Max is on Frontline Spot On . Kind of pricey . Is there anything cheap and effective  ? How about one of those collars ?
*
As far as I remember, the tick collars are mostly meant for bigger dogs...the vet near my place never did sell collars for smaller dogs. The smallest dog weight for their collar was at least 10-15kg, so Min. Schnauzers definitely don't fall in that category. I have yet to try the collars, so if you see collars for small dogs, maybe you can give it a try...smile.gif One thing to note is that, they will smell really bad after being put on. A friend of mine has a bigger dog, and she puts the tick collar on her. Apparently, it's quite effective (but she also uses bayticol to shower the dogs whenever they have a big infestation), but it really stinks of the medication >.<

Guys, does anyone here has experience where your miniature schnauzer have some dried pimples around the neck area? A vet recommended me tea tree oil, but after 3 days, it is still the same.

Heard from a friend that it is the effect of aftermaths of ticks infection. My vet has treated him with ticks and fleas treatment. There are no ticks and fleas on him now.

Other than that, can anyone me recommend me a durable clipper? Is Wahl a good brand? I am thinking of getting this set.
Wahl Clipper

Thanks!

Yeah, Scottie has those things on his neck too...on a bad day, he would have bumps all over the body sad.gif I still haven't found out what is causing the bumps though. Tried elimination diet, but it wasn't the food. I think it COULD be ticks coz he only gets those bumps after we've caught quite a bit amount of ticks on him and did the bayticol 'treatment' on him. The only thing that I tried which helped was a cream called K9 Klear Up. After using it for a week or so, the bumps will subside smile.gif But on and off, it will come back...sad.gif I'm not too worried though coz he's still active and eating good and all that...he doesn't really scratch that much too, just that I don't like the look of the bumps on him. So, I keep the cream handy. biggrin.gif

My MS have those bumps too. Someone recommended me to apply some apple cider vinegar on the bumps before bathing him. Found it quite effective. Now left 1 more bump to clear, which is on his head.

Anyone encounter dry paw pads? These are driving me crazy as it hurts when he tried to scratch or stand on my laps.

Yeah, I tried eliminating the diet factor too. Bought a few dog friendly sprays to clear the bacterias in my place too. I first started around the neck area, backside, now it goes to the chest part, and some on the legs too. He doesn't seem unhealthy. Just that I am not comfortable with those pimples staying on him.

I tried to look for pictures on the internet, but all the pictures are too severe to be compared to him. His are actually, like our human pimples. He did scratch sometimes.

By the way, where did you buy the Cream? I am currently using Johnson's Tea Tree Skin Calm. Just started. Hopefully it will help.

I am not 100% sure if it is because of the ticks, as we never find any ticks, nor fleas. Because he had a tick treatment last 3 weeks, and before that, I was not with him, so I am not sure if there were ticks on him. Other than what my friend had told me, I could not find any information from the internet, regarding after ticks treatment, there will be pimples like these.

Another possibility is we had not groom him for 2 months now. We are planning to groom him once we received our clippers. Should have received the clippers yesterday, but did not because of the delivering company.

Mine does not seems to have any blood, but there are white substances, like human pimples. Tried to remove them, but it seems like dry skins. Wanted to send him to the vet, but there are no nearby vet around me.

i bring Tom for his 3rd jab on last saturday. i did consult the doc regarding the small bump on his neck...he have two around his neck area...the doc said its scab and its not a big deal if its only small amount...i did ask him why will it appear and he said might be a lot of thing...food, allergy...but no need to worry unless have a lot...he said can apply some antiseptic cream on it too...im applying aloe vera cream on it now...so if its not much...i think nothing to worry about...

The cream I got was from Canada if I'm not mistaken, so have to order online...can't buy it in Malaysia. The website is here for placing order: K9 Klear Up

Here's a story for you guys to laugh about...
I usually let go my pup (Tashi) in the house during the evening... but there was one occasion when i didn't know that she poop in the hall until the next day, coz when i let her go again the following day... i saw her pick up something (with her mouth) and went to her wee wee pad, then she drop the poop there = =" I didn't know if i should scold her or not... so i pretend i never see it lol...

How much are you feeding him? Did you increase the food amount in the last few days?
Maybe the amount is just too much for him to take in at once, especially if he's a puppy.
If you soak the kibbles, his beard is going to get dirty... i tried it before, not a very pleasant experience

My miniature schnauzer had seizure/epilepsy few weeks ago. It was during last week that the vet told my family that it was epilepsy, when they told the vet about his condition. I was so shocked when I knew it just now because I've never thought that epilepsy can happen in dogs as well. The worst is the vet said he can't do anything. No medication or prevention. If epilepsy happens again, we can only pray that my dog himself recover. Whether he can survive, it depends on my dog himself. And epilepsy might cause death. This really make me worried so much now. It will be so horrible that we can only see my dog suffering while we can't do anything, if epilepsy happens again. He is still very young. I'm not prepared to lose him.

If anyone has more information or advice about this kind of disease, please do tell me. Your help will be much appreciated.

I do really like House of Groomers very very much. Never have any problems with them. You can also look for Jason, he is one of our members here.
