Sorry to hear that you have such an inconsiderate neighbor, Raymond...but what to do? Some people are naturally like that. The only thing you can do is maybe teach Max not to make noise when he wants to pee / poo by providing him with a toilet tray? I do that with Scottie...I leave a tray at his playpen so that whenever I cannot let him out to do his business, he does it on the tray without any fuss.

A lot of people have the misconception that obedience classes will teach us how to house break a puppy and all that. They don't actually. Obedience classes are just classes to teach us how to train our dogs to behave properly while outside (heeling, sit, stand, down, stay, recall) Another side course to beginner's obedience is called Canine Good Citizen (CGC) which is the same thing...if you go to higher levels of obedience classes, they are called competition levels. Basically about the same exercises but with different degrees of difficulty. House breaking has to be all on our own.

I sort of know that . Well my toilet training is not exactly successful.

Max is being trained to pee and poop on a tray. Please advise me if I am doing it correctly. At regular intervals and after meals, he will be brought to a confined area where the tray is placed to pee and poop. Eventually I hope he will know to go there on his own, without the need for the "fencing" to confine him to the tray. I have tried removing the "fencing" but there have been accidents !! Maybe I will try again in a few weeks ' time !!

Anyway, on Friday night (after complaint), I sort of built a "bungalow" in front of my house. It consisted of 5 pcs of play pen . Within the perimeter , I placed a dog crate (with door removed) and the pee/poo tray. My wife and I peeped a few times throughout the night and saw Max going in and out of the crate. He ended up sleeping in the open. He also "kicked" his koala bear and toys out of the crate. He made a bit of noise that night (just soem sounds every few hours) as he was not used to it. Damn stressful man as I was worried that it will disturb teh neighbours

Anyway, we put him back into his 3 foot cage to sleep the next night and he slept thru the night. I dare not let loose in the hse as yet as he will chew my stuff and is also not fully toilet trained.

I guess I will have to delay getting another dog for the time being . Phobia already !! smile.gif

Yeah, maybe you could let your neighbor know that you're in the midst of training Max now, so they would have to put up with his 'crying' for a while.

I think what you're doing is fine...when he has consistently done his business on the tray in a confined area, you could slowly open it and keep an eye on him. Whenever he starts showing signs that he wants to go, just point him to the correct place to pee/poo. That's what I did with Scottie...laugh.gif When I see that he wants to pee, I tell him to 'Wait' (and he does wait! LOL!) and bring him to the tray and encourage him to do it there. When he does, I praise him madly and sometimes he gets a treat smile.gif

Oh, Max's play pen is outside the house? Maybe that's why he's crying, coz he's more used to being inside? Or you could also give him an old shirt of yours that has your scent, so that he doesn't feel so alone. Give him time...he will get used to sleeping by himself. Scottie doesn't like to sleep on beds too..he prefers to sleep on the marble floor, even though I've bought a nice bed for him doh.gif

Neighbor wont be able to hear max now as she stays at the back. I never actually had the chance to see her as she comes back very late every day. She so happened to be around the past few weeks. mom in law told me tat max was so cute this afternoon. He went str8 to the back after peein without knowing it is out of bounds now. I counted about 15 dogs along my row n the row opposite.

Hello....You all really active in this forum... thumbup.gif

I need to admit I'm really in-active user here.

My two kids only like to sleep on my bed. They will not go down to their place once they come to my bed doh.gif

If i force them to go back sleep at their place downstair. They will automatically show their angry face.... doh.gif

Just wonder where can I get Canidae Pet food in KL? My gal, WaWa always dun want eat and rather to be hungry. Bring her to body check also say no problem and her pee poo also no problem also. I really give up liao actuually what's going wrong with her? We give her and pamper her what she want, but she still stubborn.

Any suggestion ler... icon_question.gif

The reason I find Canidae is I gave her try before this brand for few days and she love to eat....

But I think becoz of her, I already change few brand already.

Not sure if it's normal for dogs to lick their paws...Scottie usually does it when he's bored. Or if there's something irritating the paws. So everytime he does that, I would take a look at it and see if there is anything stuck there...if not, I just distract him with toys and play.

Min. Schnauzers don't really shed that much...if they are, it's not normal. Maybe he's having some infection on the fur? I remember Kenji (a Chihuahua) got it before...he had sort of a fungal infection on his fur that caused him to shed so much. The vet asked us to bathe him and Scottie with Malaseb every 2 weeks until the shedding stops (Scottie and Kenji share the same play pen, so the vet recommended that just in case Scottie got infected). Try giving some coat supplements for your pup and see. If he's still shedding you might want to visit the vet.

Yesterday after back home, when I want to hug WaWa, she screaming because of her ear pain. I get shocked when I saw her ear having some unknown fluid just like blood. I really get shock and quickily rush her to clinic as i afraid she is bleeding or any others problem.

After checking, doctor said that is not blodd but is a kind of unknown fluid and there is a lot of muccus in her ears. But, that is not ear mite also. Dr said is mostly virus infection. So, now WaWa have to take medicine and taking some external medicine for her ears.

But anyway, I just wonder why how come the Dr said she actually still cant find the root cause of this problem.

Sall I get another Dr advice?

The vet actually injected anti fungal medicine and given tablets as well. But seems like there's no effect.

Any good shampoo to recommend which I can buy online?

Infections on the fur takes a while to recover...if I remember correctly, the vet told me it will take Kenji about 1-2 months to recover, so patience is a virtue smile.gif Meanwhile, keep giving the coat supplements. I give Scottie and Kenji salmon oil capsules for their coat (human grade). Since they don't take the capsules, I squeeze the oil out on their food.

Not sure what kind of shampoo to use...I just use back the normal shampoo that was used to bathe Scottie and Kenji, plus the Malaseb shampoo every now and then. You could ask your groomer for recommendations. I think they have a better idea, since their profession is mostly bathing and grooming the dogs smile.gif

Sorry to hear about WaWa. Hope she'll get better soon!

If you feel like you need a second opinion, I say go for it...no harm in knowing a bit more about the problem so that we can prevent it in the future.

how often do you feed fish oil and for how long? We don't have private vet clinic nor groomer here ...so basically we groom ourself....

Is the scent of the shampoo that you are using long lasting? I bath him with Head & Shoulder (recommended by friend)

There's no limit to how long to feed fish oil...it's just a supplement anyways, so if you feel like your pup's coat is good and you want to stop, you can just stop feeding it. I feed Scottie everyday, but the thing to remember is to get fish body oil / salmon oil..NOT cod liver oil. Also, note that the dosage of the EPA + DHA should be around 300mg combined per capsule of 1000mg (you can find this on the bottle label). Feed this amount for every 15kg of your dog's weight.

Scottie is about 6-7kg, so 300mg of EPA + DHA is about all that I feed. The capsules I have are only 200mg EPA + DHA, so I give him and Kenji 2 capsules everyday.

Alternatively, if you find this very troublesome, you could get the MyBeau supplement from the pet stores. I've tried it with Scottie & Kenji and they do quite well on that too...just follow the instructions on how much to give per meal smile.gif

Oh, I didn't know you used human shampoo to bathe your pup...I think you should get a good dog shampoo instead of using human shampoo. Our skin and the dog's skin are quite different, so they might not take too well with human shampoo. Currently, I use the Pet Esthe Charcoal shampoo for Scottie...it's quite good, but a bit pricey (about RM60 per bottle - but this lasts Scottie for almost a year already). We've also tried the Spa brand...the smell is VERY nice, but it doesn't last so long as I wanted to. Still, Scottie didn't have any adverse reaction to it, so it's good enough smile.gif

Thanks for sharing. My fat Vodka is about 8-9kg...dunno why is he so heavy....I should start to hunt for fish body/salmon oil. Noted it shouldn't be cod liver oil....

I have limited access to pet shop here...limited choice. So my only option to shop online.

I bought tulipspet and another one which I've forgot the name. Trying to find good and suitable shampoo for him, and of coz, nice smell and long lasting.

Oic...where are you at now? You're not staying in KL?

I don't really have that much experience with shampoos and all. I've only tried the two brands I've mentioned so far, because one bottle usually lasts me about 1 year or so. Probably the only thing you could do is just try it out? A bit 'risky', but it's about the only way to know if it suits your dog, coz even though it might work for mine, it might not work for yours. Just a thought.
