Nah this isn't a real ghillie. It has a tongue. Quite fun to mix and match with and it also has some sort of dainite like sole.

Wow! At least your brown is a bit more 'normal' than the green in the link. It does look like a fun shoe. Takes some guts to wear something like this. More power to you I guess.

Actually they ARE the same green as the one in the link but in reality they are more of an olive green which looks a little brown in warm light. I wouldn't have bought them if they were brown! Hahahha...

Thanks. Those pants Uniqlo only hehe...

When did C&J officially cut off Plal? Probably around the past decade. Not sure exactly when. But definitely before the brand became the official shoes for James Bond!

The green shoes? Well I would normally pair them with jeans or with chinos. Sometimes if the occasion calls for it, along with a sports jacket. I have quite a few green bits and pieces to go along if I am in the mood to match.

Wow, awesome collection, pair well with your rollie hulk tongue.gif I also wonder how you polished shoes with this color, especially those already with great hand-painted patina.

Thank you

My 3 year old Cheaney Balmoral just came back from the cobbler. New topy and heels. Topy not topy brand, but heels Topy brand tongue.gif

[attachmentid=9740323]
[attachmentid=9740324]
[attachmentid=9740325]

Work done was just about decent. Some leftover glue on the heelstack. Different color on the welt just after the topy where he sanded it, needs some creme/dye.

I say decent work as all of these 'issues' I can fix myself. I'm using this pair today, everything feels ok, so no harm done...I hope.

Those might be the nicest looking cemented shoes I have ever seen. Some great classic designs there.

Still won't buy them though. Durability will be about the same as your average Bata or Hush Puppies.

The shoes in my rotation may cost 2-6 times that, but they will still be looking good and going strong after 5 years, with each pair being worn at least once a week.

To quote the late Terry Pratchett,
“The reason that the rich were so rich, Vimes reasoned, was because they managed to spend less money.

Take boots, for example. He earned thirty-eight dollars a month plus allowances. A really good pair of leather boots cost fifty dollars. But an affordable pair of boots, which were sort of OK for a season or two and then leaked like hell when the cardboard gave out, cost about ten dollars. Those were the kind of boots Vimes always bought, and wore until the soles were so thin that he could tell where he was in Ankh-Morpork on a foggy night by the feel of the cobbles.

But the thing was that good boots lasted for years and years. A man who could afford fifty dollars had a pair of boots that'd still be keeping his feet dry in ten years' time, while the poor man who could only afford cheap boots would have spent a hundred dollars on boots in the same time and would still have wet feet.

This was the Captain Samuel Vimes 'Boots' theory of socioeconomic unfairness.”

I have one of the whole cut brogues. Pros d leather are better than hush puppies or even clarks.
No issues with cemented construction for me. Easier to find cobbler. With a few shoes in rotation it should still last a few years.
Problem if you have wide or big feet. Largest size is EU 45.
There is no option to return if the shoes don't fit. If you can risk it, buy it during clearance or sales.
