So you reckon Mr Minit hand stitches the gemming to the welt?

My interest in piqued! Someone go buy a GYW shoe at a bundle shop and send for resoling. We disect it afterwards. Lol.

I am not too sure about Mr Mint, however i agree that we do the experiment. I nominate you. lol

Hi there,

I'm really new to this world. Recently I've bought a pair of used Allen Edmonds and I think it needs to be resoled. Can I have any suggestion for a place that can provide a goodyear welted kind of resole?

A few pages back, a forumer mentioned Mr Minit. Else I believe Ed Et Al in Singapore offers resoling. Or you might want to check if you can send back to AE.

dainite/vibram sole with good year welted stitching will be very durable. Personally I think English shoes are more durable in construction compared to italian.
The best is to buy 2 pair of shoes and wear them in rotation. Never wear them twice or more in a row, that would prolong the life of the shoes/leather. Get shoetrees as well.
Even the most expensive brand will get worn out quickly if not looked after properly. Pricing is immaterial to durability.

Yep they've been topyed a few years back. This is my oldest pair of English shoes and I am always impressed with their quality. This and my Lowndes double monks are the ones that I use the most often and travel with the most.

These Mantellasis are around 6 years old...

do reporting only, not asking you to commit, if can even better, can share the experience. Ask them whether bespoke is possible also?

My 3 year old Cheaney Balmoral just came back from the cobbler. New topy and heels. Topy not topy brand, but heels Topy brand tongue.gif

Work done was just about decent. Some leftover glue on the heelstack. Different color on the welt just after the topy where he sanded it, needs some creme/dye.

I say decent work as all of these 'issues' I can fix myself. I'm using this pair today, everything feels ok, so no harm done...I hope.

Nah this isn't a real ghillie. It has a tongue. Quite fun to mix and match with and it also has some sort of dainite like sole.
