Haha I nearly landed a RM1,100 Barker @ Plal but decided nah. Went to WJ&Co the carmina's are beautiful !

In the end I bought a Loake L1 Oxford. The material is quite stiff though. Any way to soften it faster ?

Where do you guys shop for all those fancy colors socks

In KL PJ no more such shops ah?

Should get the Carminas. They are well made shoes for the price.

I find Loake's leather quite stiff, more so with a pair of boots particularly around the ankle. You could probably try using some mink oil to make it more supple or use Saphir renovateur.

Conditioning will soften it somewhat if the leather is dry. I recommend Saphir Renovateur or Bick 4 if you have it.

I get my coloured socks from Uniqlo. Cheap and cheerful.

I don't know, I kinda like Loake's stiffer leather. My Cheaney is very obviously much more supple when handling it, but I feel it flexes too much at the facings/tongue when I walk, being forcefully held back by the shoelaces only.

Nice pair! tried one in HK and I have to say it's one of the nicest shoes I've put on.
Did you have to wait to order? I was told it would take about 3 months for MTO.

@niakulah don't mind stiffer leather but for my boots, it's killing my ankle. Maybe it's a bit too stiff without much room for flexibility.

I got my reno on eBay, bick4 from Amazon.

WJ & Co also carries reno but I'm told they are expensive there.

Need advice here guys.

I want to buy my first real men shoes as I just started working as intern. I want a shoes that is either black or dark brown. I am still in dilemma which color to choose. Black seems like it is more formal and easier to match with clothes, but I personally love dark brown as it stands out from the color of pants/shirt so people will notice it immediately. And also with black If I were to buy a black suit I can match it easily and with dark brown it is harder to match. And also brogue or wholecut oxford or cap toe is better as my first shoe? Few years back then, brogue was my favourite, but after doing research online lately I am okay with any of the three as long as it looks good. If money isn't an issue I would choose Crockett and Jones, but I would like to keep my budget below Rm1k for a pair of shoes. I am going to P.Lal and WJ and Co to check it out next weekend.

So black or dark brown, and what type(brogue etc..) do you guys recommend along with the brand.

1. P Lal has very very limited stock of C&J in odd sizes. WJ and Co does not carry it at all.

2. Brand new C&J would definitely cost more than your 1k budget.

3. Your colour problem can be solved by not getting a black suit. Dark blue or grey, and to a lesser degree(IMO), charcoal, goes well with brown. OR go with a very dark brown(espresso?) shoe colour although that does not have the stand out factor that we love.

Just bought this Steptronic black captoe shoe. It is made of sheep skin with rubber sole in it. Quite comfortable for me.
