Amazing.. sincerely appreciate bro input  notworthy.gif
Hence i got a better understanding for the last. Well,Hvnt really order myself a pair of Meermin. Was browsing their website. clicking here & there. They charge USD for outside of Europe and their shipping cost are vy steep of USD35 for a pair of shoe. Compared to Pediwear they charge GBP18 for international shipping.

Guess,I'll dropping Meermin for the time being and keep Carmina & Loake in my radar. I'm wearing 8 / 8.5.
Saw Plai pricelist for a pair of loake 1880 double monk for Rm930. Not sure is the price updated?? But still is just purely the shoe itself. Without any shoe care,Shoe Tree.
Thinking to order from Pediwear with all the accessories i need  laugh.gif
*
Yeah Meermin's classic line is €160 with VAT. I think the VAT is 21%, so without VAT it is €126.

BUT, during the Euro free fall last year or the year before they decided to peg the price to the USD for non-EU countries, and to fix it at USD175 without VAT. Obviously this is a higher price (€126 is about USD140 only).

So really those non-EU countries are being charged higher. And for us Malaysians who are seeing the MYR free fall as well, we are doubly impacted.

So yeah, no more Meermins for me.

Can't really recall the actual amount that I paid for but it should be around RM1.5k after VAT deduction.

Need some help here with my squeaky Meermins. Which cobbler/shoe repair shop is my best bet?

I tried Mister Mint at mid valley, the boss wasn't there but there were two workers who didn't know what the problem was and suggested I change the insole to a Woly insole to see if it fixed the problem. Should I?

Is the shoe repair shop at Ikano generally regarded as the best and most reputable? I don't mind spending up to RM 200 (or heck, even more than that) so salvage the pair which costs about RM 900 after factoring GST and shipping...

Massdrop is open a drop for British Belt Co. Bridle Belt.
Premium range of leather category (Bridle) at USD59.99 + USD4.17 shipped to Malaysia. After the conversion to Ringgit should be at : RM256.58.

While the same item,Which i browse few week before at Pediwear was at GBP62.50 + GBP9.00 shipped to Malaysia. After the blah blah blah at Ringgit : Rm407.19

Which i found is a grab.. Well,For those who like a nice pairing of belt with ur fine shoe.Might opt one from massdrop wink.gif

Snagged a pair of Carmina snuff suede double monks from WJ. The best size was 7 but it was the display unit and had a small blemish on the leather, so I tried 6.5 and although it was quite tight I took that instead. The leather should soften and loosen up after a few wears. List price is RM 1,880 but they have not implemented GST this month yet so I got the pre-GST price of RM 1,770. Can't find this model anywhere on the net... My guess is he got it from Epaulet in NY previously or something.

Anyway, I think the shoe range is priced quite decently. But the Carmina belts are overpriced IMO - online price is €75 so that's about RM 350. It sells for RM 680 in WJ. The Saphir range feels overpriced too, the Renovateur is RM 120. Is there anywhere else to get Saphir products from online?

Congratulation on your new haul bro QuickFire,
I think u need some times to break in the shoe.. Think suede easily to break in compared to leather and hope it fits you well.
Can see Carmina price range is abt the range (Below Rm2k, Rm1.5k ~ Rm1.8k Range ).
I'm still hunting ard for a pair of Double monk strap.. Pretty sure that,I'll keep it btw Loake 1880 Canon or Carmina Nicolas dropping Meermin.

As for the massdrop belt,I misss the opportunity to join purchase, Sold out pretty fast for the standard waist size of 32". Shall wait and see any nice drop coming on.

For Saphir shoe care,Can try compare these site,As they offer diff currency.
As usual,I got it from my last haul pediwear.

The Hanger Project site feels expensive. Pediwear seems OK but shipping wouldn't be worth it unless I also buy a pair of shoes... Anyway thanks, I'll continue searching.

Bro where i can get this...sick of kiwi

QUOTE(CHiNO730 @ Jun 2 2011, 04:36 PM)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/chin...-polish-kit.jpg
Here's my shoe care kit I put together last month.  I've had a chance to try out some of these products, and wow...I am impressed.
I've been using Kiwi Wax Polish and Meltonian Shoe Creams for years - they're not quite as good as the stuff I've got here.
Kit contents:

4 x Saphir Pate de Luxe Médaille d'Or 1925 Paris Smooth Leather Shoe Polish
1 x Saphir Médaille d'Or 1925 Paris Renovateur Leather Conditioner
1 x Saphir Super Gommadin Suede/Nubuck Rubber Eraser
3 x Saphir 52x30cm Chamois Polishing Cloth
2 x Saphir 100% Boars Hair Hand Waxed Exotic Wood Large Spatula Brush
1 x Avel Regenerating Leather Cleaner Soap
2 x Bally Fine Leather Lotion
2 x Cole Haan Leather and Suede Protector
1 x Kiwi Rubber Suede Brush
2 x Allen Edmonds 100% Horsehair Shine Brush
4 x Allen Edmonds 100% Horsehair Dauber
2 x Allen Edmonds Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth
Saphir is apparently the OE manufacturer of John Lobb creams and waxes - no wonder it is considered some of the best stuff on Earth!

Verdict:  Definitely more luster and shine than Kiwi or Meltonian, looks more like an oily shine than the waxy shine you get from Kiwi - but it is not oily at all.
The wax is very thick (not hard like Kiwi though), so a little bit goes a long way.  It's also considerably more difficult to buff out, especially on coated or patent leathers.
I am not sure I am sold on the price, considering the wax is 6x the price of Kiwi, but so far there isn't anything quite as good, so it's still the best I've tried.
The Saphir Chamois Polishing cloths have a lot of loose lint and need to be washed first before use, but they are quite soft.  I prefer the Allen Edmonds cloth.  In fact, the Allen Edmonds shoe care brushes are very good.  I am quite impressed with the quality (all made in USA) for the price.

What is everyone else here using?
Alright, now it's time to go polish some Aldo shoes?  blink.gif

I used to be a sneakerhead but recently started to appreciate formal shoes like oxfords and what not.

Never knew there was such a thing in Malaysia for all these shoes. Price range is way above my budget now.. Just recently picked up a Timberland Oxford

Just wondering what socks go well with shoes like this ? Attire would be Dockers Khakis and a simple polo.

As for shoe trees where can I find them in KL/PJ?

hi folks slightly off topic but felt compelled to inquire anyway.

Can I use dubbins and obenauf for leather bags, specifically laptop bags? Do I run the risk of ruining it?

Also read online that mink does more damage than good? Is this even remotely true?

Did some snooping around Nu Sentral yesterday and saw dubbins sold for RM35 and conditioner (german made) for RM 50 for 100ml(my estimate), are these reasonable or can I get cheaper at say campbell complex?

One of the traditional 'rules' is that socks should match your pants or your shoes. Different people will have different versions of this rule so YMMV.

I used to do this, but now I like to add a bit of colour to my outfits. When I'm wearing black dress shoes with my dress pants(most of them are shades of grey), I go for green or blue socks.

Uniqlo has a nice selection of these socks in about 30+ colours, although some people might frown upon them as being too thick for dress shoes.

Here's a thread that I love to browse through for inspiration:
http://www.styleforum.net/t/72565/rock-you...hoe-pant-combos

This one is mine:

Shoe trees you can get Loake cedar trees for RM169(before GST) at P Lal in Jalan Gasing.

Cheaper plastic spring ones you can get at Daiso and Ikea.

In between, check out cobblers in malls and departmental stores.
