Need all sifu advise.
Is it worth to get a pair of meermin MTO for USD267.50? Was hunting a pair of Double Monk Strap shoe.. Consider Loake 1880 Canon , Barker. Browse thru meermin site and saw one of their MTO and straight kena seduce by their Gold Museum Calf. Never own a pair of those brand ( Meermin,Loake,& Barker ) Can someone give some value info and advise pls. Currently own a pair of Grenson Dylan. Sincerely appreciate all sifu input. |

Someone should just change the thread title to SQUEAKY SHOES now.
I dropped by WJ and co at BSC earlier today. They carry Carmina, G&G, and John Lobb. My budget only allows my eyes to wander in the Carmina section... G&G and Lobb costs RM 4,800+ for a pair, and RM 6,000+ for the prestige range for Lobb. There was a particularly nice pair of brown museum calfs by Lobb... Anyway for Carmina they had about 6 or 7 models (owner said he plans on bringing in more). 2 loafers, 1 longwing Derby in suede, 2 oxfords, and 1 double monk. There may be one other pair but can't quite remember. I had my eyes on the longwing Derby and double monks... Both looked so good. One weird thing I found out is that I wear size 7.5UK for my Meermins in the Hiro last, and yet for the Uetam, Inca, and Detroit lasts I tried the 7 fits me better. Most people on the internet have said they usually take the same size for Meermin and Carmina (unless its a sleek last like Simpson). I forgot to try the Simpson last while I was there. Didn't see any with the Rain last. Back to the topic of squeaky shoes... I told the owner that my Meermins squeak, and he said it also happened to his pair of Meermins! Sounds like the exact same problem - squeaks when you flex/bend your feet. He had no solution for me. He said he's never experienced squeaks with Carminas. It appears Meermins have a real problem with this... |

QUOTE(marver @ Feb 12 2016, 11:37 AM) Was looking for a small shoe horn, saw the site bro recommend. I used this site but got the product delivered pretty late and they do have lots of hidden fees, I think viabox.com is more relieable, cheap and fast to use.Is it legit? Nv purchase from the webstore before. |

QUOTE(niakulah @ Mar 27 2016, 12:03 AM) I have to admit I have little experience dealing with proper men's shoes - so far I only own a pair of Loake 1880 and a pair of Meermins. In terms of finishing, Carmina > Loake 1880 > Meermin. The welt finish looks more professional than on my Loakes. For suede, Carmina's have a shorter nap and is buttery soft and smooth, whereas Meermin's nap is longer and doesn't feel as soft. The suede on Carmina feels more premium, that's all I can say. This is just based on my single pair of Meermins, mind. Overall I would say the finishing is noticeably better than both my Loake and Meermin. The lasts are also a lot sleeker than Loake's offerings, although Meermin's Hiro last that I have is pretty sleek too. Whether Carmina is worth almost double the price of a Loake is a matter of personal preference though. I think it's almost double based on Plal's price, which is probably based on the old exchange rate. If you factor in the current exchange rate the difference is probably a lot smaller. |

I did notice meermin MTO shoe price tag reflect a lot for their Hiro last compare to other last ; Elton, Olfe etc... Can i ask bro QuickFire,Is the Hiro last consider Meermin premium last and in terms of comfort is way better compared to other last they offer? |

QUOTE(marver @ Mar 27 2016, 12:39 PM) Thanks bro for sharing your experience.. Search online and you'll see most people will agree that Loake is better than Meermin in almost every way except maybe the aesthetics of the lasts. Loake is classic British so most of their lasts can't really be termed as 'sleek'. Meermin on the other hand offer some pretty modern lasts. Hiro is probably their most popular last, its not a premium last and it is probably the most common in their shoes. I also don't think MTO will have an increase in quality. For that you have to go for the hand welted Linea Maestro line which costs a lot more. And even then I've heard a fair bit of bad press about the LM line in terms of finishing. I won't recommend Meermin to anyone given my experience with them. For the same price (Meermin charges USD35 for shipping) you're probably better off going to Plal and getting a pair of Loake, unless you really hate the Loake lasts. Was also thinking in terms of quality which fare better ; Meermin MTO, Loake 1880 & Carmina. QUOTE(cielBleu @ Mar 27 2016, 01:00 PM) What size are you? Don't say 7 or 7.5 otherwise you may take the pair I want... Haha. Not sure how many pairs they bring in for each size... |

Amazing.. sincerely appreciate bro input Here's a comparison of Meermins lasts. What size are you? Don't say 7 or 7.5 otherwise you may take the pair I want... Haha. Not sure how many pairs they bring in for each size... Hence i got a better understanding for the last. Well,Hvnt really order myself a pair of Meermin. Was browsing their website. clicking here & there. They charge USD for outside of Europe and their shipping cost are vy steep of USD35 for a pair of shoe. Compared to Pediwear they charge GBP18 for international shipping. Guess,I'll dropping Meermin for the time being and keep Carmina & Loake in my radar. I'm wearing 8 / 8.5. Saw Plai pricelist for a pair of loake 1880 double monk for Rm930. Not sure is the price updated?? But still is just purely the shoe itself. Without any shoe care,Shoe Tree. Thinking to order from Pediwear with all the accessories i need |
