Looking good bro.
The Burgundy colour looks really attractive in real life. I might start to do some research and keep in my book for future use.

Can see from the pic the shoe last pretty slim. Is it 7.5uk on your foot?
*
You're referring to the burgundy Carmina above? That's on the Inca last. It may look slim but it's actually quite roomy (for me, YMMV). I can fit into a 6.5 or 7UK in Inca. 7.5 would be too big.

Dear All,

A few threads before someone suggested to simply buy bata for daily usage and not to expect it lasting long.

Let me try and maybe refine the requirement while we are on that subject;

1) I walk a fair bit (ampang park to KLCC) and I use the public transportation so a fair amount above the average lunch walkers
2) I'm using my current leather brogues which I fear is losing its colour due to the lack of care and dusty environments
3) am planning to get a daily walker and perhaps save the more expensive one for special occasions.

On that note, was hoping the enthusiasts here to provide some feedback on the following item i'm inclined to purchase, low on cost and if I can squeeze out at least 1-2 years of usage would be considered a sound buy

Brogues

Feedbacks as always are more than welcome, especially since this will be my first shoe purchased online.

Most people here discuss Goodyear welted shoes though, so you'll be hard pressed to find anyone here recommending a sub-RM 600 pair of shoes.

If you have that budget, you can look for rubber Dainite shoes (as opposed to leather soles) lthat should last longer on Malaysian pavements. Try Loake at Plal. The prices range from RM 700-900+ I think.

But for your budget, I have no idea. Just get something with a sole that looks thick and sturdy I guess.

Yeah, I love the Inca and Simpson lasts. Haven't seen the Rain last (one of their most common) in the flesh yet, but they look good in pictures too. But the real sleek one is Simpson. Inca is deceptively sleek but quite roomy.

For some reason, all shoes on the Inca last on the Carmina site are a bit pricier (EUR 355 vs EUR 318 for other lasts). Not sure why...

Sorry I have no pics of my J. Fitzpatrick, but you can have a look at some pics from others below. Generally JFP's shoes are more of an acquired taste, with the Magnolia being their most conservative pair. Many of the rest have funky color/leather combinations that I have no love for, but some of their range can look really good.

Yeah been noticing that for a while now. But atm I'm hard pressed to spend 600+ due to budget constraints hence the initial thoughts about sourcing for something cheaper.

Besides plal, where else can one source for shoes that are under 400?

Thanks in advance

I have no idea. I used to wear Hush Puppies and Obermain but they wear out quickly too. Maybe try Clarks? They're probably a bit better than the typical work shos brands... Someone else will probably have a better idea of what to suggest.

Carmina double monks on the Inca last today.

Found a seller on eBay that sells Saphir stuff with decent price... shipping is $5 + $1-3 for each additional item. Anyone knows if there are better alternatives out there?

Loake cheaper range made in India but a little higher than your budget. A lot of brands does GWY in India, China.

Shop online try wolverine 1883 they mostly made in Portugal but also moving to china. not many brands out source there, Portugal work not bad
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00UAXC6C2/r...R5JWX1VX90NNMZF

If u hunt on eBay maybe can find Allen Edmond factory seconds that's in your budget. If u don't mind little defects and made in USA

Prices like that are really too much for me. I've never paid more than 15 usd for cedar trees, though Chinese made ones.

Definitely not the good price. But not too bad if compared to retail or our local cobbler shop. Wj&co or Ikano cobbler for instance selling way higher.
Gotta source for more great and awesome deal. I think once i browse thru tao-bao (Chinese marketplace) they seems to have better deal.
Nv order before and not sure about the quality and the material thou. smile.gif

Yeah I need some cheap shoe trees too. I hate navigating taobao because my Chinese isn't too good. Any other sources?

Btw, have W&J received their stock of shoe trees already? How much is it? Last they told me was that they hope to keep it belwo RM 200 (customs taxes permitting).

Then bro can try EBAY,me too not good in Chinese.
Not sure for shoe tree at wj&co,but pretty much higher compared with the one I mention.

Try this :
Think this really pretty good deal, since not made in Prc.

Location of seller is the US. Two scenarios highly likely:

1. He doesn't ship to Malaysia

2. He ships but the costs will be really high

Need to find one that has cheap shipping...
