most shoe departments in departmental stores, cobblers etc. plastic ones are cheaper. wood ones go for ard RM30-100+

Or the local cobbler cum locksmith stores. IKEA has a plastic shoetree (in either black or white) as well going for around RM10 but they break quite easily - I saw a lot of broken ones on their shelf.

Pardon me for not elaborating properly - the part of the IKEA last which breaks easily is the plastic stub that connects the body to the spring piece. Plastic shoetrees do last if you buy a properly designed one and I do not really recommend getting IKEA's. Still, it is still ideal to get a proper wooden shoetree if you have money to spare.

hmmm, i'll listen to your advice and not go for the plastic
did get one with spring, it kinda flimsy, and the spring seems does not hold tight enough...
so far all i can ask for cheapest is running at RM75 (wood)
the cash converter has 2nd hand which selling at RM12 only for wood!? but sold off...
since its a shoe tree, i don expect to spend much on it...
lanatir did mentioned the range is from 30-100, may i know where to get the 30bucks instead?

Why would you want plastic shoetrees anyway? They don't absorb moisture or keep the shoes scented.

Just like how there is Lamborghini Reventon for the ultra rich people and Potong Saga for the middle to low income group. Some people just aren't willing to spend too much on a higher quality shoetree and to them, a plastic one is sufficient for reducing creases on their shoes.

not sure how much ur shoes cost but RM800 is more than what most of the population would spend on a pair of shoes.

I would forget about shoe trees when wearing cheaper shoes. Newspaper stuffing would work the same.

I bought a few pairs similar to this off taobao.com (I work in China), they only cost me RMB15 (around RM7) for a pair. Don't think they are made out of cedar though...

Please explain this theory of yours, I use a plastic shoe tree for a my C&J in case you are wondering what is C&J its Crockett & jones.

Plastic shoe tree works fine if you get a proper one of course I would not argue that a wood shoe tree is better. It all balls down to how much you want to spend on a piece of accessory.
