Is earning in Rm3k in KL very common? or it is just rare case? Especially for those who had been working more than 1 to 2 years?

and as for those who earning less than Rm2k below, can they survive?
*
I believe its quite common to be earning RM3k and above in KL expecially for those who have more than a 1 to 2 years experience. Most of my peers started working 2 years ago. Most of them are earning more than RM 3k , the rest are earning some where between RM2.6 to RM3k.

Earning 3k in KL is not really very common. It'll be too general to say so. Would you perhaps mean fresh grads who perhaps got their first job in KL begin their salary with 3k, is that normal?

It's really a 50 50.

Those with somewhat minimal exp of 1 - 2 years, usually less than half stay in KL.

Not everyone can tolerate the fast pace life.

And I can vouch for jitshiong - it all boils down to what sorta person you are, what sorta lifestyle you lead.

You a geek? Bookworm? Or a party person?

Terteriary education is NOT necessary the way out of the financial race.

Heck I've got a close buddy who haven't even finished SPM but with his determination and hard work, he even earns triple to what I earn. sad.gif

Yet you can see the mentality or the maturity of someone who has education and someone who doesn't.

Everything has a pro and con to it.

Its no surprise for a hard working foreigner earning RM3k. There are a lot of demand for unskilled labour in Malaysia. They come in as a labourer, if they are hard working they normally get promoted quite fast and earn quite a bit.

Unskilled ? ah beng? Please do not disrespect these people otherwise do it yourself. Those people are commonly known as tradies in Australia and they are extremely skilled at what they do and rightly remunerated so. They are paid so highly because tertiary education rarely present students with the chance to learn these skills at the level they can perform it at. I could only wish I'm as hardworking as them haha. Sorry for taking a standard moral high ground guys, I feel I need to fix these things when I see them ><

Tertiary Education isn't a means to the end because many graduates stumble upon graduation but if one pays enough attention, it does provide you with a lot of lessons to build your character and personality.

I think I may caused a misunderstanding, sorry for that. What I was trying to say was :
In certain areas, they are a big shortage of workers. Especially unskilled workers (like working in a palm oil estate). Many employers are unable find locals to fill these positions as such they turn to places like Indonesia or Bangladesh. Hence I not surprise if some of them are earning RM3k or more. They worked really hard to get to that level and they TRULY DESERVE it.

Hope I clear the air a bit.

yeah, you're right. those Kongsi Kong (Construction skilled workers) earn up to 3k per month. I was so shock when I look at the figures for the 1st time in my working company which was 2 years ago. That time, I felt so sad that even labours are earning much more than me. cry.gif I'm really unbalance during that period as I always think that how much my parents spent for my tertiary study. As a profesional I even earn less than RM3k today. This is really cruel. (Malaysia just no concern about talented this is true. this main reason why we have so much of Malaysia working oversea.)

For my example, I'm overseas graduates my 1st job, basic is RM2.1k working in one of the biggest listed construction company as Quantity Surveyor. This is really sad, cry.gif BTW, Learning experience is most important as a fresh graduated.

guys, I have been told about my benefits and some salary related issues when I signed the offer letter today. Starting pay 2.6k + 250 fixed gas allowance....however...the bonus and increment sounds terrible...please advise:

Quarter bonus...15%-18% if its making profit, heard it was 30% before..
Year end bonus depends on performance..Avrg - 1 month, Good -2 months...so so =nth

1 time yearly increment 4-7%...assume 6% of 2600 once every year...ZZZZ

BTW Equipment Engineer at a MNC fresh grad
