''first lets go through the basics:

1. When you have activated WIFI, are you connected to any WIFI access point/router?
2. If you are connected to any of them, how sure are you that the access point/router is connected to the internet?
3. If the WIFI access point/router belongs to you and you're sure that you have internet service, then are you able to surf the internet?
4. So the only problem is streaming videos on Youtube app? OK, then do you have other PCs connected to the same WIFI access point/router? Are those PC able to stream from Youtube? If the answer is no, then you may need to checkout your router firewall settings. If yes, then you have an issue with the iPhone OS's connectivity.

Guess you need to do a network setting reset? For your information, I always had problem with streaming Youtube over my home WIFI which is connected to Streamyx. I googled and found issues from iPhone OS's connectivity all the way to the WIFI chipset which is sucky. My youtube videos will always timeout or slow to a crawl. Watching from PC however is ok even though it is slow.

Then one fine day, I switched to Digi Broadband and is using the same router. No settings touched. And voila! I can stream at super fast speeds. ISP related or not? I don't know. But Digi Broadband works for me.''

Okay. i dn really know about the wifi settings so i asked my friend who was using his n97 to check out the youtube webpage using the college's wifi. it turns out he cant go in that webpage either...

However, when i used my 3g network, i could access everything... so how now?? is the wifi the source of my problems?

hi sifu,

i dont know if its just me or not, but ever since i updated my software to the newer version 3.0/3.1 ... my google maps on the phone is damn inaccurate already.

last time i could totally rely on my google map to get me to places, like as u move, it also shows u are moving on the map...

now, it doesn't show movement, just a stagnant blue dot, then suddenly fly to another spot...

how do i resolve this?

Hello everyone smile.gif This is my quest to find out how I can replace my 1 month old iPhone USB cable. Already, my USB cable is tearing at both ends (Picture).

Went to the Apple Authorized Reseller store here in Sandakan. Told me they can't replace it. The seller's iPhone cable is also torn. It's not under warranty. I told them to call someone to help with the problem. First, called the shops distributor (I think). Said it wasn't under warranty. Can't/won't replace it. Next, we called the Apple customer line. Told about the torn cable. They'll help find a place to replace the cable. For iPhones bought in Malaysia, he told me to contact the company who brought the phone here, Maxis. They're the ones to go to when asking for a replacement, he said. As a last resort, I was told to file a complaint with Apple customer line if I don't get the replacement.

The shop assistant went to Maxis' site and printed out the phone number/address of the company who stocks the phones to Maxis. They didn't pick up the phone. So have to try tomorrow and see when they're able to contact the Maxis distributor people.

Who else is already having problems with their iPhone 3GS USB sync cable? smile.gif Also, is the iPhone 3GS cable under warranty or not? Or do people get replacement only if Maxis/whoever sells it, feels like replacing it?

So what you're saying is that you're connected to your college's WIFI? The fact that your phone and your friend's phone cannot access Youtube suggests that it could have been 'blocked'. Are you able to access Youtube from a laptop that is connected to the same WIFI? If your laptop cannot access it, then your college could have banned Youtube. Simple as that.

The fact that your phone can access everything via 3G means there's nothing wrong with your phone. You can test this hypothesis further by connecting to another WIFI which you're sure is connected to the internet with full administrator access (meaning not blocked). If it works, then it should validate the hypothesis.

I've faced this prob in both my iPod touch and iPhone 3G cable as well but I don't really think this is covered under the apple care bcoz it's more like normal wear and tear so it's unlikely covered by the warranty. Anyway, the cable is still usable rite even it's torn so don't really bother about it. I don't think you can find original USB cable outside but you can buy those 3rd party cable outside, prob costs around Rm20 only.

Yeah, I think those 3rd party compatible ones will do. Just get a good quality one. Of course if the price is near the original one, then it makes no difference.

According to Ad Mob's mobile metrics, Apple’s iPhone OS has finally overtaken the Symbian OS as the most used mobile web traffic operating system. The combined Apple share has jumped from 33% earlier this year, to 40% in August. Symbian, however, has almost nearly traded positions with Apple, falling from 43% from earlier this year, to 34% in August.

The Blackberry OS, Windows Mobile, and Palm OS also fell. Blackberry went from 10% to 8%. Windows mobile fell from 7% to 4%, and the now-discontinued Palm OS went from 3% to a measly 1%. The only Mobile OSs that gained share besides the iPhone OS were fairly new systems like Android and Palm’s webOS, which went to 7 and 4 percent respectively.

As always, Apple still has its largest advantage in North America and Western Europe. Surprisingly, the iPhone also dominates the mobile traffic in the South Pacific with an amazing 79%.

Hi guys,

My iPhone 3Gs fails to ring when there is an incoming call. It only vibrates. However if I use the earphone, I can hear the ringtone. Same goes with my games. But when I play songs, it works and it shows that it's nothing wrong with the speaker. Anyone knows why?

Thanks.
