but when i presss shift
i didnt see "check for update"
it only show "update" for fw 3.1
but i dont wish to
how?

I am using the iphone 3gs 32gb official unlocked by singtel with os3.01. i cant seem to get thru youtube. i am using wifi. each time i tap the youtube icon, it loads then it says unable to connect to youtube.why cannot ah? i cant seem to see videos on9. what do i need to do??? btw i did not jailbreak anything!

AFAIK, 64k sim is using 2G technology whilst 128k is using USIM (3G) tech?

I had that problem before, I just renew the dhcp and everything goes back to normal.

i have an iphone sync with my stolen macbook. now i borrow my friend macbook to sync but problem came out with i have to format my phone b4 i really can connect it to itunes. so, how can i sync with another mac without delate all my pic, song, apps inside my iphone?

There's no way as I recall. iTunes will store a local file to identify each synced device.
Not even mobile me does the remote backup.

Thats why we always say BACKUP YOUR DATA.

You can do the manual way by sending out your data manually (email, bluetooth, whatever apps) or if you know about SFTP to your iPhone. Its a lot of work, but thats all I can suggest.

Try to check whether you can surf using Safari? If yes, meaning there is something problem with youtube app. If not, try to renew your IP Address and check what kind of IP you get. Usually for LAN IP will be 192.168.X.X or 10.0.X.X.

When a WiFi device couldn't get any DHCP from WiFi modem/router, the device itself will auto assign "self-ip" and usually the ip starts with 169.X.X.X.

Say I am using my iPhone and I have Linksys wifi router with DHCP enable at home. When I turn on iphone wifi and connect to linksys but linksys refuse to give ip. Usually when a wifi router failed to give ip because of "hang" etc.

So because of my iPhone waiting so long to get the IP, then my iPhone itself will assign its own ip and that is 169.X.X.X

I think I found my own solution to my own problem. Previously I mention that I JB right I got my iPhone right.
Then I started to install SBSetting as well to disable EDGE/3G because I saw some of our forummer here got lotsa bill for data usage and I'm afraid I will be like that too.

Just now, I try to troubleshoot by enable both EDGE and 3G and surprisingly, no drop call. Disable 3G only also no drop call, but will drop if both disable.
You might wanna give a try. So the conclusion of this, maybe the voice layer needs either edge or 3g?

I think most areas are now EDGE at least. GPRS or 2G GSM are far and between. If you move into an area where the base towers are at least EDGE or 3G, you will get disconnected if you disable both. Maybe this is the case?

I think so. Because everywhere I tried, will get disconnected if I disable both EDGE and 3G.
So as for now, the connection is superb, either both on or just EDGE on.

I'm talking this if you're using Celcom by the way. Other forumer using Maxis while both settings off, seems OK.

ErM I can surf the net with safari. Prob I am facing now is that I can't go to YouTube on safari and I can't go using the YouTube icon either. When I tried with my 3g network, I managed to go went in the YouTube. But I don't think the wifi has a prob bcoZ my blackberry managed to went in using the browser. Can anyone tell me what's the prob?

Anyone here is having intermittent network signal loss?

It's been three days I'm using this new iPhone 3gs and the problem occurs from time to time, now I'm irritated.

Erm guys. I just found out that I can't use the YouTube icon the application store and iTunes icon either. I am using official unlocked singtel iPhone 3gs 32gb. With apples 3.01 firmware. I Use my college's wifi. What's wrong? What do I need to do? And recently, my prepaids credit really menjunam from the sky to the floor... Any suggestions how to stop it from menjunam?

Must be your YouTube app problem? As for iTunes, I can't use it either cause it is not support in Malaysia, some sort of that.
On prepaid, I think you have to disable EDGE/3G. Got thread about this.

in my case, it wont help. Just ported to Maxis. Everything is working fine now.

First lets go through the basics:

1. When you have activated WIFI, are you connected to any WIFI access point/router?
2. If you are connected to any of them, how sure are you that the access point/router is connected to the internet?
3. If the WIFI access point/router belongs to you and you're sure that you have internet service, then are you able to surf the internet?
4. So the only problem is streaming videos on Youtube app? OK, then do you have other PCs connected to the same WIFI access point/router? Are those PC able to stream from Youtube? If the answer is no, then you may need to checkout your router firewall settings. If yes, then you have an issue with the iPhone OS's connectivity.

Guess you need to do a network setting reset? For your information, I always had problem with streaming Youtube over my home WIFI which is connected to Streamyx. I googled and found issues from iPhone OS's connectivity all the way to the WIFI chipset which is sucky. My youtube videos will always timeout or slow to a crawl. Watching from PC however is ok even though it is slow.

Then one fine day, I switched to Digi Broadband and is using the same router. No settings touched. And voila! I can stream at super fast speeds. ISP related or not? I don't know. But Digi Broadband works for me.

Probably Maxis has a different network than Celcom's. Maxis still has a lot of areas that are only 2G only. Thats the only thing I can think of.

resolved, it turn out to be that the sale lady didnt activate my 3g (the *136# or something). Tq.
