I bought A810 in Nov'11 for rm2.8k in Penang.

thats in penang : ( I rarely see yamaha avr for sale online. Really leaning torwards yamaha right now, if only can find good price

Hi to all the shifu here, i recently got a yamaha rx-v671 amp for my living room, but as this is my first home theater set, was wondering what would be a speaker set to hook up to the amp, budget around RM5k +- like a 5.1 set, been doing quite abit of research but got so many choices haha.

During my hunting for a speaker and amplifier i did it by test at A & L audio station at sg wang. I love the sound of ELAC with yamaha avr

Yamaha just announced launching of the new models from A720 - A3020 with 4k upscalling, airplay and new YPAO features and 3D as well.

Now every brands new models have 4k upscale feature. 4k display is no where to be seen. Furthermore, I don't think the current 1.4 HDMI spec have enough bandwidth to carry 4k display content. More of a marketing gimmicks I would say.

Unless you need airplay, else better get the current models which should be cheaper once the new models are in the market. More value for money if you can get some decent discount.

Onkyo NR-616 already reached our shore. By July and August, we shall be seeing more new models from these giants.

Like otnuus mentioned, the current generation avr are good enough for the software available. I doubt that the studios will be employing new audio format so soon. The 7ch will be here for some time. A 9 ch system will not be so popular as it will consume more real estate for speaker placement.

my friend was place order the rx-v673, suppose right now enjoying the setup, unfortunately got feedback form the supplier, the shipment delay until end of this month only able to get it ~~~~!

Just wondering since i dont have a media player, can i just connect my laptop via hdmi into the amp and play the movie so as i could enjoy the 1080p movie? What slot is suitable?

last time my normal listening level was -20db when using yamaha amp...
suddenly it needs -10db to reach the same listening level as last time...
im using dali speakers and psb sub...
all speakers sound reduce....
the amp can detect sub but the sub volume setting in amp shows min volume...
also i always get warning error w-3 when doing YPAO auto setup...
could any bro or sifu here help me out please?

Yes, you can. What slot do you mean?

Size matters? You may consider something like the KEF KHT3005SE which is around that price range OR if you're into big speakers, at this price, they're quite square and boxy. There're many decent brands for i would recommend you B&W 600 series and KEF Q series, as always

Look and shop around, there're some other brands you may also consider as B&W/KEF might not be your type of sound but they're generally very good. For your Yammy, i'll recommend KEF as B&Ws are more difficult to push.

How long did you use your setup before this happened?

Subwoofer gain setting showing minimum sounds like you set your sub too high. That or your room is echoing. Try backing off the sub.

How long have you been running the system previously? Seems rather odd that the sound levels dropped that much so suddenly. Playing the same media?
