How long have you been running the system previously? Seems rather odd that the sound levels dropped that much so suddenly. Playing the same media?

Glad to help. Now that you mentioned it, I did have a similar experience when I moved my sub the last time.

Maybe some protection circuit in your Yamaha is causing the auto switch off? Have you try to disconnect all the connection to your receiver and just power up it alone?

Try checking your speaker wires. One time my speaker wires were loose and rcvr kept shutting down by itself. Was a bit panicky at the time too.

hmm you may want to disconnect and reconnect the speaker cables all the same. I had audio coming out of mine before it tripped as well.

Remember to check your connection at both receiver and speakers end.

Dont waste your $ on changing the power cord. If it has been functioning for the past one year, likely your power supplies isnt the issue.

I suspected the protection circuitry is the cause. One of the sensors must have sent the wrong signal back to the CPU triggering the shut down to protect the system itself. Another possible cause is the voltage fluctuation, however, if your 5 mins shut down can be repeatedly achieved without given soundtrack, volume gain or time, then the voltage fluctuation shouldnt be the main problem.

As well, did you changed your speakers, speakers cables lately before the Yammie went into shut down mode? Some speakers are very hard to drive which can cause the amplifier to oscillate and shut down. Loose speaker cables or shorting of them will trigger immediate shut down of the amplifier so i doubt it'll be the case.

Do check them all but i think your amp needs a service sweat.gif

I afraid you need to recheck your speaker connections once more to confirm they're well secured.

If you're sure of it, then there's a chance that the loose speaker cables connection has caused damage to your amp. There shouldnt be a power supplies issue so dont waste $ changing the power cord.

Do a quick test. Take all your speaker cables off from the receiver and run it with the same volume gain for the 5 mins and see if it shuts down. If it does, then it's internal problem of the amp already else then it has got to do with the speakers/speakers cable as well but can still come back to your amp when there's the load then it got shut down.

What kind of connection from your amp to tv?
If RCA is being input from Astro to amp, then amp to tv must also be RCA.

Dynasty88: you are welcome! Your first method will work if it is a higher model with 'up conversion'.

Poadster: woi! What are you doing here? Me no expert..just sharing only.
