Okay, i have another question about this amp.

I normally turn the volume at around -22dB when watching BD movies, and turn to around -10 dB when watching Astro B.yond . May i know how to properly set the volume level, as i know Yamaha 467 does not come with proper pre set at 0dB out of the box right ?

haha...i dunno...each speaker have their own 'Ohm' measurements...i am not sure if pairing a  powerful AVR to those cheap small speakers are wise. I believe in the AVR manual got mentioned what is the 'Ohm' recommend for the specific speakers.

it's like fitting a single 747 jet engine into your car with 14 inch rims, right? tongue.gif

hmm.. I usually watch my movies in different 'dB'... and mute it (or dial things down till it's mute) before I turn off the amp.
I think that there really isn't any set volume level, especially so for different sources (BD, DVD, TV channels, etc).

I wouldn't advise that...those small satellite speakers...later explode got too much juice from the Yammy AVR. Save ur money until u can buy a complete set. After all, ur HTIB can work now. Spend so much just to 'get rid of optical' cable, IMO, is not very wise...

The woofer seems to be dying already plus the receiver on my current HTiB has gone a bit haywire, sometimes it automatically shuts off the left side speakers and I have to off and on it again for the sound to be back.

If that's the case, maybe should get an affordable HTiB set for the time being first? By the way, how to find out if a HTiB receiver can decode DTS or Dolby Digital sound. Don't seem to see it anywhere in specs sheet. hmm.gif

Yep, better buy a HTIB if budget is low....i think most should be able to decode DTS and DD...but check the spec sheet just to be safe...since some people mentioned certain Pioneer model cannot do that...sweat.gif..Which model r u looking at?

I believe it was the Panasonic HTIB that can't do that...

Currently looking at the Sony BDV-E370. That one for below RM2,000 is one of the factor. laugh.gif

That is a Blu-Ray player HT....if you don't need a BluRay player, i suggest something like this...

http://www.sony.com.my/product/ht-sf470

More connectivities (for future...PS3/XBOX/whatever), a few HDMI in, more power and also stands included.

I don't have a large living room therefore the stands will not be preferred for my case. laugh.gif

I always noticed amplifiers and component systems stating their decoding abilities, but what about those HTiB? hmm.gif

By the way, a BD player is needed if possible. I think the component system seems nice but because of the stands, I'm afraid I don't have much space to put those.

Hi all,
appreciate if anyone here can share or confirm my question.

I found in the Manual setup there is I/O assignment option. Can our AVR accept multiple audio input simultaneous and project out?
example, via HDMI input, RCD input and optical input. or AVR only able to playback 1 audio input?

from RX-V663 user.

Not sure where to ask this so thought of asking it in here.

Just purchased a cable which the shop claimed to be a coaxial cable (they were doing a stock clearance). However when I reached home and read the manual, it seems that there is a cable to only carries only video signals and also another that carries only audio signals.

So I checked the box and it says Video, doesn't mention Audio anywhere. Thing is I have not bought a new amp or receiver so I can't test this cable out yet.

But is it true that some cables only carries video signals? I'm looking forward to sending audio signals from my Astro decoder to the home theater so what I need is an audio one right? Sorry for my newbie question. blush.gif

So it means that the one I purchased most likely only sends video signals right?

Any specification written on the box or on the skin of the cable?

coaxial cable doesn't care about what you stuff thing to the cable, it just carry the digital data across, you can even use the nomal composite video+audio cable, the one with red-white-black colour coded RCA plugs

however some coaxial cables are more suitable for carrying digital, such attribute as better shielding, thicker central wire

Nope, the box didn't write anything except stating it's for video. It's quite a cheap cable, the shop claimed that it is from Taiwan.

So wait, does this mean even if it is written that the cable is for video, it will carry audio signals across too? I need to know this so that I know whether I need to go back to the shop to exchange or not. Thing is I don't have new amp or receiver yet, that will probably come after new year so can't test the cable now. sweat.gif

if u plug in to a video port --> it carry video signal
if u plug in to an audio port --> it carry audio signal

75ohm cable can do both, when I was young & broke last time, I use the Red/White/yellow cable as my RGB component cable and another Red/white as audio and the yellow one as my sub woofer cable....works fine sweat.gif whistling.gif tongue.gif
