QUOTE(minimize @ Jan 22 2010, 01:51 AM) How much a price RX-V465 u can get? I see this model at Harvey Norman with price around RM24XX. Its spec is quiet good for me to get DD 5.1 sound from HTPC & Byond. BTW I still searching good AVR below RM2k. RM24XX at Harvey Norman? Receiver alone or with speakers? I saw it at Harvey Norman for RM3k+ with speakers.. think at RM900 for sub.. On a side note, I was considering gettin this as its the basic unit and most affordable one that meets my requirements. Anyone here using this? Compared this with the Pioneer 819, how does it fare?

listening to it is one thing... one's ear (and eyes) needs to be in-tune with it... unless you're born with it.
i.e. If a person is listening to HD audio constantly, he/she should be able to tell the difference right away, compared to someone who has not listen or probably listened once or twice because they wouldn't know what to look or hear for. It's not like we can remember and memorise every sound and frequency in a song, right?
and of course, there's the sound equipment and I believe there's some tuning as well, right? besides the speakers...
I recently went to SenQ to hear the difference between a RM3K+ Full Pioneer system and a RM10k Onkyo system with Jamo speakers. Was there a difference? I thought that the RM10K Onkyo system sounded just slightly better. Then of course, he was playing some Kenny G CD (which was prolly bootleg) and the sytems were prolly just plugged in and left there, without proper tuning.
I'm currently waiting to test out the Yamaha 465 to see if how the sound goes. Problem is I want a system for multi-purpose - Movies (with a bit of music) while the other half only wants the system for Music. As I mention before, I thought that there are 2 different kind of system out there... one mainly configured and picked for Music where the sound is full and warm and there's those for Movies (wham bam!).

QUOTE(enemyofgod @ Jan 27 2010, 12:26 AM) I hope you guys dont mind if i paste this link: http://www.mudah.my/Yamaha-RXV-1500-THX-7....ver-4863734.htm , but its tempting.. not really attractive in this age where HD audio is a must, especially when one is getting a AVR

QUOTE(nocar @ Jul 8 2010, 11:17 AM) I'm thinking of connecting the DVD component video to the receiver and then connect the receiver HDMI to the LCD tv HDMI input for video. This is better... should get 5.1 sound with this setup. QUOTE(nocar @ Jul 8 2010, 11:17 AM) At the moment, I'm connecting the DVD component video output to the LCD tv and the DVD stereo audio output (Red-White) to the RXV465. IINM, you get only Stereo if you do this

QUOTE(dariofoo @ Oct 1 2010, 11:27 PM) Check this out: http://www.trustedreviews.com/home-cinema/...maha-RX-V467/p1Yamaha RX-V467 AV Receiver. It's 3D ready as well. Sold at Harvey Norman as a package together with Yamaha NS-P380 5.1 speakers. I cancelled my earlier order of the YHT-S400 soundbar and got this instead as I found out the soundbar couldn't decode HD audio. Anyone owners of the above AVR here? how much?

QUOTE(dariofoo @ Oct 3 2010, 12:31 AM) RM2190 Do you reckon it was a good deal? RM2190 for the AVR and 5.1 speakers? (no sub right?) Based on the posts below, I reckon should be a good deal! QUOTE(minimize @ Jul 27 2010, 08:07 PM) I buy RX-V465 bundle with NS-P380 just for RM2400. So I think it price just around RM1000-1200 QUOTE(+Mie+ @ Aug 5 2010, 03:32 PM) At the recent Yamaha sales in KJ, the RX-V465 were going at RM1592. That's after a 20% discount from RRP. I think most retail shops can match that easily. Nonetheless, as reported here, the model was a sold out at the sale.

QUOTE(artman @ Oct 21 2010, 05:32 PM) Exactly, btw me no TrueHD & DTS HD source in the meantime. Just using PS3 or Sammy USB for movies. The PS3 would be your bridge for True HD and DTS HD audio... just need to buy Blu Rays
