I could be wrong, from what I understand, your Yammy 2040 need a firmware update to play atmos... So my question to you is have you check your firmware and see if you have the latest firmware?

Generally speaking Yamaha is more neutral and pioneer is more bass heavy

I don't think we got 379 over here already, but you can try seek it out, 377 is in the range of 1.3k - 1.5k, it was cheaper before gst but nothing you can do about that now

Go to electronic shops, they usually have selling. Go to hi-fi shops you need to prepare extra money, like in electronic shops you can get for rm30, in hi-fi shop for the same thing, rm100-300.

Usually I won't bother to get the "latest" model since series the same, end number not same only change in software while hardware majority are still the same.
Even 1 series up also the same sometimes.
For an AVR, what important is the transformer, not the output power as most AVR are sharing the power. When it states 100W, does not means all the channel will be at 100W, it is lesser in real life.

The 377 and 477 basically are using the same power supply and main circuit board(DSP and output), so if I were going for 477, I'll go for 577 instead.

Never use Yamaha before(as that time torned between Marantz and Yamaha but Marantz giving good discount, so Marantz for me) but for Pioneer lower end series, completely waste of money laugh.gif

Musical side also not that good for Pioneer.
Again, before I get flamed, I want to point out that only the lower end series of Pioneer is like that, higher end(LX) are better, but again with that price, I can get other brand that can do the saem icon_rolleyes.gif
