The only significant different among the 2 is power. So do you need the extra power ?

I won't really take A3040 as looks like A3040 is just like A2040 being software adjusted to give 11.2. Also, both of them are same power consumption of 490W.
Looking at speaker output's spec, it only state doing 140/150W at 2 channel driven, so if were to drive all the channels, the actual output could be lower.

Bro, your source is original Blu-Ray or ripped movies? I can't really say for sure, as i don't have a lot of DTS-MA source...only have 1 DD TrueHD, which is very good compared to normal DTS. Most of my source DTS only...tongue.gif

Original on Panasonic BD player, ISO on Media player. Both same DTS-MA problem on 475. True-HD and DD no problem.

for those receiver that cannot bit stream dts master, better change the player output become multi channel linear pcm.

still a lossless codec instead of lossy one

You don't understand. It can bitstream, but whether it's decoding the DTS-MA and downmixing the extra 2 channels is the question.

Even if you let the BD player decode to 7.1 LPCM, the extra 2 channels doesn't sound like it's downmixed in the Yamaha 475. More like the extra channels are just discarded.

That's just my personal observation on my system, although all the experts will say that it's not the case biggrin.gif

as i know rxv475 is a 5.1 channel receiver. i gurantee it will downmix any 7.1 contents.

the difference between dts hd master audio and the traditional dts is high bit rate (7mbps lossless) vs low bitrate (640kbps compressed), not the number of channels.

if u send out lpcm, the high bit rate is maintained.

out of 30 ori bd i have, less than 10 movies are encoded with truehd, only 1 got both truehd and dts master.

Say, how do I know my PC is decoding and send as LPCM? If I see PCM on my RX475, means its LPCM? I am using Media Classic player...how do I let the PC software decode instead of sending to the receiver to decode? I wanted to test the DTS-MA as mentioned by NgTo and see if there is difference with DTSMA and LPCM.

Haha,

IMO, there is very slight difference between 7.1 or 5.1 ; lossy or lossless.. de rear channels are not on all de time - mostly for effects.. n tat oso for a more aggresive mix in an action movie - maybe.. if for a normal movie, I d hazard its more for ambience in its music score..
Just enjoy de movie for wat it is n forget abt wat format its audio is..

To be honest even with 4k TV I really doubt will see any significant improvement. Most likely too little to see
