QUOTE(bluhound @ Oct 1 2009, 10:42 AM) If you mean by threaded SMS then you check this one out, SMS-Chat. yeah,it useful for me http://vitotechnology.com/threaded-sms-messaging.html In the Modaco forum, there is a thread mentioning that Windows Mobile has threaded messaging but Samsung disabled it by default. There is a way to re-enable it but you will lose MMS support. |

QUOTE(devil94 @ Oct 1 2009, 10:15 PM) That is a firmware upgrade. Omnia II is already on Windows Mobile which justifies what I have just explained previously. You can't flash a non-windows mobile phone to a windows mobile phone. Firmware upgrades are only recommended if you are having serious problems and the newer versions fixes them. If you are daring enough, you can update it yourself. However, one small wrong move will render your phone dead and will require professional service = money money... To be safe, might as well wait for Windows Mobile 6.5 for Omnia II to be officially released by Samsung so that free service upgrades at service centres are available. Hope this clarifies it... |

Added on October 2, 2009, 2:25 am QUOTE(thinakaran @ Oct 1 2009, 09:34 PM) ayo...u guys make it so misleading.jz wanna clarify thgs up. When u buy an SG phone from a lyn seller.one thg that is important is after sale service ma.. u can flash the phone with official firmware yourself at home. worst come to worst u bricked your phone(unlikely if u r doing official flash),u'll have to send back to SG for wrt claiming.(best if seller will be able to help on that,so check b4 u buy, transportation charges may applied) most importantly u followed the step by step guide provided and the firmware upgrade is official..they(Samsung SG) will be more than willing to help u to fix the phone. Of course FMG will not help to flash SG phones, otherwise no one will buy FMG phones d. same theory applies, when u buy FMG phones,Samsung SG will charge u for any repairs done in Samsung SG service center. Crystal clear now? This post has been edited by lhongwuh: Oct 2 2009, 02:27 AM |

Anyway, IMO, it's an upgrade, new tech should be applied with backward compatibility. Can't deny that its best backward compatibility is the best way to go. However, the changes between version 1 and 2 have been so great that its just either not possible or not worth it. It kinda reminds me back in the days when GeForce 3 was released with programmable shaders and had problems with older GeForce 2 which has fixed shaders. |
Hey guys,
I am currently aiming for Omnia II and would like to know your honest opinions on the phone. Do you guys recommend the phone to others? Or would you guys suggest a better phone in the same price range? What are the main issues that are plaguing this Omnia II? I'm sorry that I posted here but I am doing my research on the phone before getting my own. Though I'd expect biased answers, I am hoping for someone to point out the cons of the phone. Thanks a lot.
pros: well i dun wanna repeat wats the good stuff on Omnia II when official website and newspaper ady got them all.. so below r my honest opinions: iphone can do a lot with its app store, so why not it be on omnia 2? we may not have such great app store and cooked apps, but we still got a significant flexibility to mod our phone to install apps tat we want. for instance, u can put other phones UI into yr Omnia 2.. 2nd one, i seriously need a GPS for me to go outstation, and a little gadget for me to show off..hehe.in tis case, Omnia 2 has become the perfect device for me! with rm2100 device, i save money to buy nuvi 255, having better gadget than a HTC worth 2500, and a screen tat beats iphone 3GS! if u wan me to suggest better phone in same price range...i seriously cant giv u any. i've been waiting for tis phone since tis year feb Barcelona mobile phone show case..and the reason is? wat u get is VERY WORTH wat u get...and YES i will recommend this to u. main issues..hmm..like wat andrew said before, when starting to compose message it is laggy. (u gotta wait for a second or 2 for virtual keyboard to appear) and, u will ned to surf tis forum frequently and aware of new firmware upgrade..mine nvr upgrade cz lazy.but i heard tat after upgrade it will be smoother.. so far..my phone nvr have any problem..so far so good..excluding SMS laggy, nothing bad =) Added on October 2, 2009, 6:11 pm
Yup, there is still no 3D hardware support for Omnia II yet. Everything you see on screen is software accelerated.
Without that, what's the difference with v3.0.1? Can't even customize with mskip's widgets like these: ![]() ![]() ![]()
how do u change the background pic? This post has been edited by jianjie: Oct 2 2009, 06:11 PM |

First Windows Mobile 6.5 for OMNIA II Review
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I8000UZNII1 is the 1st firmware base on Windows Mobile 6.5 release by Samsung that currently available download from internet. (Not official from Samsung website) This firmware actually is specific make for China market, but no issue when using at any OMNIA II phone. The only drawback is it only support Simplified Chinese Interface, which means not possible to switch to English or others languages interface. Pros of I8000UZNII1: * Windows Mobile 6.5 (not the latest build 6.5.1) * Stable (I never face any issue yet like 6.1 which you may face need to restart the phone after a period of time due to some application may not run properly) * New nice of WM default Start Menu and Today Screen * Redesign of Samsung Main Menu * No issue displaying Chinese language everywhere (Include chinese ID-tag in touch player) * Better preloaded keypad with support of English & Chinese Language * More finger friendly Interface (at Default Windows Mobile interface) * Overall speed is good, I believe future firmware will be much more smoother * A lot of new application preloaded by Microsoft * New Internet Explorer 6 Interface * Brightness auto control is working finally, it won't rapidly changing like last time on WM 6.1 * GPS is signal is must more better and faster. (I can locate the signal at 1st use without on the XTRA) * WiFi standard for China WAPI is support (By default is WAPI, which means you need to disable it before can use in others country include Malaysia as WAPI standard only support in China, but now if I at China, I can use it because WAPI support is included) Cons of I8000UZNII1: * Only Simplified Chinese Menu * ROM size too big * Start-up screen has change to one of the China operator logo rather than the default Samsung logo * Got few Junk China operator program (can't uninstall but can delete manually) * Samsung Main Menu interface got some bugs which prevent you remove the 1st 5 icons. (Solutions is manually remove all icon from start menu to others location, then add in back one icon, with such step the bugs is solved) * New Samsung Main Menu speed is slowest than Samsung Main Menu at Windows Mobile 6.1 * Smart Search is Remove * Overall I still love this version, will keep it until English firmware is release. QUOTE(whann @ Oct 3 2009, 09:45 AM) Nope, I using Resco Contact Manager for threaded sms if needed. But I think Samsung has fix up SMS issue even at not threaded version as now it show correctly contact name and number when you open the sms at Inbox and Send. Last time it show back my own number. |
