It is quite sluggish and laggy , always get into some problem with device and I have to restart the whole thing which takes a long time , like last time I try to get into my sms through the widget than it wouldn't go , so I tried restarting the device than it is fixed, so i run into little things like that all the time.

I love the screen and the camera it is the best i have tried so far , but the phone operation is not smooth at all , it is getting quite annoying for me... thinking of selling it getting a simpler phone....I guess i just hate windows mobile 6.5, and I expected the device to be much faster before I buy i did research on the internet everyone was saying oh it is very fast phone got 800 mhz processor , honestly i don't feel it being very powerful ,

I think the hardware is great but the software is ruining the experience for me, if only there was a way to put another OS like android or something else like we do with laptops it would have been great , but it is not possible at the moment.. , we got such a beautiful screen but the windows mobile os cannot doesn't have wide color range which means the AMOLED screen is not efficient with this OS? Samsung shouldn't have used windows mobile for this device,.

what do you all think ?

The laggy is mostly due to Samsung widgets. IMO, it is best use SPB Shell 3.5 instead of Samsung's UI, to truly maximise the speed of this phone. All your lag will be gone and it's a hell lot more customisable. My wife prefer to stick to the Samsung's UI though... blink.gif

I don't find the 65K color an issue, since i don't watch videos on mobiles anyway. It still looks better than my Nokia 5800 with 16 million colors.

Hi all,

Anyone has issues with the Core Player or TCPMP (in fact all media players) that saying AC-3 format not supported?

Any other ways to get the codec?

Please enlighten me.

@JasonMania

I guess that we just expect it too much and compare it with our desktop speed with the mobile speed...

OmniaII is my first Winmo phone which i change from K810i...
i actually expect it to be worst but somehow makes me addicted to it now.
i got threaded sms, capable install funny funny games and i like the Samsung touchwiz interface tongue.gif
I know some part of it is slow but what is the rush anyway...
battery life is great and AMOLED is great... I am actually a HAPPY user now biggrin.gif

ok that makes sense. and from what i read, omnia2 cpu is fastest ever. plus camera is also the strong point.

Hi people,

After much rummaging around on the Internet, I managed to get the Octan's downloader and the ROM (I8000XXIJ6) to flash it with.

It was all ok until it reached the Language Setup screen (where there was a warning not to turn it off, as it takes about 10 minutes). However, the screen seems to be stuck at this stage even way after 10 mins.

I really don't know what to do next. cry.gif I can't even turn off the phone to retry flashing the firmware again. Do I take the battery out to turn it off and reflash the ROM?

Please advise. icon_question.gif

I'm a Omnia 2 user for around a month, when get the phone, running Winmo 6.1, all running well & smooth....after 3 weeks of using it, update to Winmo6.5 using samsung software, than it keep giving problem like slow response, hang & have to restart the phone alt of time.....

1 days 3-4 times, finally found out that, it usually happen when batter left 50%.....

So i change the Performance setting to High rather than auto, final the problem solve, phone runing fast & stable.....I think is due to the phone had set to save battery & run @ low performance, that it cause the phone hang. Anyway, your can try it out, my phone now run smooth & fast lol..........

I managed to fix the problem. After much waiting, I just did a soft reset by using the stylus on the back of the phone and reflashed the same ROM, but this time, I unchecked the box that says 'Do not erase "My Storage" content'. Luckilly, this worked and restored my phone's functions.

Just wanted to share with any of the newer users who might be confused as I was blush.gif

Same here , Samsung needs to fix many issues with the new upgrade , last upgrade really did effect he performance of the phone in negative way , and it reduced the amount of free RAM , and the auto closing it is so annoying,

why so much ram is reserved ?? reserved for what?? anybody any clue?

Just updated my wife's phone to WinMo 6.5 this morning at Samsung's SC after repeated failed attempt to do it via NPS.

I found it to be much faster than Win 6.1, especially the widgets. In Winmo 6.1, the widgets are the main reason the phone lags. Now the widgets startup time is much faster! Dunno what u guys are complaining about.....can't wait to install back SPB and other stuff into it. Flipping the homescreen left/right is also faster and more responsive!

WinMo 6.5 FTW!

In 6.1 the lag is mainly in the homescreen, whenever u flip next page, widgets reload again. Frankly, the only lag part is the main homescreen. If u use SPB, no such issue. Very fast, even the 3D spinning carousel(whatever u call that).

In 6.5, the homescreen has improved very much, but still not as speedy as SPB 3.5 in WinMo 6.1. Haven't try SPB 3.5 in WInMo 6.5, but i expect it to be just as speedy.

Right now, i'm very jealous of wife's phone....makes my Nokia 5800 looks so uncool.... laugh.gif But my 5800 auto-rotate is still better than Omnia II though. I still wonder why the Omnia II doesn't auto rotate everywhere...doh.gif
