better take it off, as the extra thickness of that protector will actually touch the UV filter and once it touches, the lens will just return to the camera and gives u an error msg.

Just got my panasonic lx3 on thursday> will be testing it out this weekend for a family outing at sungai lembing. Hope to get great shots from it!

Btw, is the panda adapter fits 52mm filters? thinking of getting polarizer filter since it helps alot with removing reflection (esspecially offshore)

For someone who already got 5D MKII sure la no need tongue.gif. Those who are stuck with only LX3 definitely want to try Wide angle / telephoto (since the default zoom is unbearable) / macro lens (couple up with raynox gets satisfied results) . Yeah my lx3 all stripped to the bare (no adapters and such since already got dslr to do the heavy jobs laugh.gif

I bought the LX3 and DL4 when I oredi had SLRs. It's purpose is for super wide angle n super fast aperture in a small compact cam. Not for zoom. If want zoom then shud buy Canon G10 or G11 lor.

The LX3 n DLux 4 at 24mm is truly 24mm wide man. I've tested shots with my 5D at 24mm and the LX3 n DL4 at 24mm n it is true 24mm wide on the LX3/DL4. 24mm wide is already super wide. Anyway, those adapters that claim to do Ultra Wide on the LX3/DL4 r pretty much fake. It is much wider but it has the vignetting n by the time u crop out the vignetting, the true picture comes back to only about 24mm wide. laugh.gif

There's also a reason y Leica doesn't offer any lens adapters coz they will heavily degrade the fantastic quality of that Leica lens. Only Panasonic saw fit to come out with the adapter kits. If u look in Leica website for optional parts for the DL4, there r no lens adapters available coz of that reason. Havent seen pics from the Panasonic ultra wide kit though, I guess it's gonna be true ultra wide with the panasonic kit but the price is like................

Not sure about the wide / vignetting problem for me the only time the lens vignettes is when using the telephoto lens. Yea its all about utilizing the camera. If theres any need to try something new and the fund is limited (but still want to try it) go for the adapters and lens. I've enjoyed using it but when it seems that you have hit the ceiling (10k shutter count later) and the opportunity to upgrade (money falls down from the sky) go ahead and update laugh.gif

actually, a lot of SLR owners buy LX3/DL4 as spare camera. not the other way round coz DL4 oredi costs as much as a mid level SLR n LX3 costs nearly as much as entry level SLR.

Like my case, I have SLRs that do just about everythin I can dream of but I still use the lil pocket rockets a whole lot. thumbup.gif

Lowepro AW = All Weather - it is true "Weatherproof". Anyway, I doubt the Nat Geo can fit too, but no chance to try out. Better buy a bigger bag like Crumpler 1 or 2 mil.

Ya I agree! Pls try b4 u buy.

I got a lot of the accessories: Pandabase Adapter, Tele, Wide, CPL filter, ND filter, UV filter, flash, tripod (Benro 250EX), extra battery and SD...

Frankly, 99% of the time when I carry the LX3 out, those accessories sleeps at home.

IMO, better invest in a real DSLR if u r willing to carry those loads, Or u expect those things can help u to take photo "like a DSLR". Even LX-3 + Adaptor + few filters are very inconvenience to carry around! Furthermore, those accessories can't take very good qaulity photos like DSLR due to the limitation of small sensor & quality of the extra Lens. Bare in mind too, converter affects the aperture too.

BUT!! If it is just for "fun" ( like Ianho taiko who has both Leica & LX-3) go for them!! fun to play with and to "wow" friends (but at a cost lar..)

Measured all the possible dimension. Camera + Adapter+ Lens cap is 6.1 x 9 x 11 cm and looking at all the dimension.. the bag can fit unless they are dishonest at the dimension...

I also still carry the LX3 without the adapter if I'm doing an outing on my own.. But the Adapter+UV filter is very helpful when you have more than one person handling the camera... smudges on the Leica lens is a mood killer... mad.gif Thus the need for a proper bag with the said size. Both can fit by theory and Apex 60 AW can fit snugly as claimed by a user in Flickr.

but is it really a good idea to get a UV sticker to stick on the lens? last time there is a debate in lowyat forum on this..some find it, ridiculous as you are sticking a UV on a few hundred lens that might/will affect the quality image taken...

just like what ianho mention about the lx3 adaptors..

IMO, just leave the lens naked, and get a lenspen. if someone touch the lens, can use the lenspen to wipe it off in seconds!

beats using your clothes/cloth risking scratching the lens.
