I'm still thinking to buy or not. I hate the kind of feeling when i burn $50-$60 USD in retail games or MMO subscription, and only to become "DAMN I HATE THAT GAME" later on.

So if anyone will be so kind to answer a few of rather important questions below. I never played GW1 so I have no idea what's the "style" of this game going to be.

QUOTE
the player will have the ultimate choice in whether or not to engage in PvP, and won’t be forced to participate if he or she isn’t a fan1of that type of game play.

1, the No.1 most important thing- I dislike AION. I hate to get raped when I just mind my own business. The quote above sounds Ok to me. But before getting a full understanding of GW2's PvP system I still feels very skeptic. I read that there are two modes- W2W and duel. Anything you can add?

2, what is the leveling, quest systems involved? I getting tired of - "playing because need to reach X levels to unlock X things". The game should provide plenty of USEFUL contents instead of just grinding quests, talking to NPC whole day and then stare on the exp bar hopefully it fills out quick. The more MMO I play, the more I hate to read those damned quests articles because they are pointless and didn't entertain me.

3, equipment enchantment, modifications? What kind of system in GW2? NOOOOOOOOOO MOREEEEEEEEEEE +10 please.

4, another important factor- is there enough contents to SOLO? Including solo instance. Usually when I start a MMO I will mostly be a loner for a few months, or maybe forever if there is a choice. I hate to look at the list of dungeons and solo content is like only 5% of the list... Do GW2's content difficulty scales according to player and amount of players involved? That will be nice.

5, in game currency system? I hope there no "bound" thing or at least don't enforce it too strictly -.-

To get a game that can really last me over a year (or even over a few months) is not going to be easy. Call me too picky but yeah, after playing many titles and seeing what is good and what is bad the game have to offer... It will be nice if GW2 also offer a tryout period with limited contents.

The whole game is solo with dynamic grouping. Means that whenever you are taking part in the same dynamic event with others, you will be temporary grouped with them.

There are no quests.

Also, it is PVE, and thus you won't be ganked when playing the storyline. However, RVR and PVP are active pvp events and it would serve you well to stick to a group and not mind your own business there.

1. There is no ganking in GW2 meaning player can't just shoot a fireball at you from far away while you are minding you own business, there is only duel, and to duel both party have to accept...

most of the question you ask already answered somewhere on this thread or in the interwebs...maybe try google?

Anyone here knows how to get the CE version ? Aside from US it seems to be more expensive at other countries which doesn't seems quite worth it. Still wondering if I should just settle for the digital Deluxe Version instead ? hmm.gif

There're tons of commentary videos from the selected press people who actually play beforehand. You can search for yogscast, total biscuit etc youtube channel for their guild wars 2 video. Or go to this link http://www.guildwars2live.com/library.php
From there, you can decide whether to pre-purchase the game or wait until the official launch.

1. Here's a video regarding pvp system http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4VKhrCDWfg
Or you can read through the explanation from http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_2

2. No. They make different approach for pve http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9A6CEKDYr8 One of the example video.

For more information, better if you use link above and watch or read through it. That way, you might fully understand the concept and system in guild wars 2 imo. d^^b
Sorry if its not well explain ;p

First off, I don't play GW1. Second, I don't play in Beta, so take everything with a grain of salt.

Thirdly, my MMO experience is mostly WoW. I tried a bit of Rappelz (F2P, but B2W) but got sick of the endless grind and exponential levelling. That being said, I watched plenty of videos about this on youtube and read plenty of articles and following all the hype around it. I like what I see so far.

Actually, there are no dueling, iirc. Not sure if they want to implement duel, but all of the videos I see have no world PvP. There are no factions in GW2 to warrant a World PvP. Just 5 races banding together trying to save the World (...of Warcraft).

For PvP junkies however, there's structured PvP (comparable to WoW Battlegrounds?) and World vs World vs World. The former is a team-based event, the latter is an all out siege battle between servers

It is something called Dynamic Events. In a sense, when you approached an area, you will be notified that there's something happening in that area and you got a quest for it. Your objective is to fill up the bar by doing whatever that is needed. It can be "Repel the invaders", "Milk the cows", "Gather a bit of this", "Gather a bit of that", "Escort me!". What makes it interesting, however, are the following:

1) The quest can ask you to do a combination of above. It is up to you, what you want to do. It can be "Help the farmer by milking the cows and putting out the fires from his hay while defending his farm from centaurs". You can do any of the things needed (milk the cows? put out fires? defend against the zerg?) and still contribute to filling out that bar.

2) World moves without you. You don't wanna help? That farmer doesn't really care, but his farm is going to be taken over by the centaurs. The next time you pass through, the event can be "Hey, help me retake my farm!!"

Try youtube some of the latest Yogscast (uploaded by BlueXephos) and/or Totalbiscuit videos. They usually are funny, but very informative and honest with what they are commenting about.

No idea. Not enough information.

Dungeons needs 5 man, but you can solo through most events. However, GW2 main selling point is how suddenly a bunch of players work together without forming a formal group and try to complete an event. Taking the above example: You are fighting for your live to defend against a zerg when suddenly another guy pops up and help you clear out the zerg, while another passing soul starts milking the cow and putting out fires. You are working together, without shouting "INVITE!!", and when it is finished, everyone is credited according to their contribution, and everyone just go off to pursue their adventures. There is no Killsteal, no tagging, everyone can whack a mob and still got exp/loot.

No idea. There's gold, gems, karma, glory... too much to get my head around until I played it.

I like to immersed in my game. While WoW have plenty of lore, it's the endgame that counts (basically, where the story really climaxes) in that one. Being in a raiding guild, we need to get to max level ASAP (unless you are a social member), hit the (heroic) dungeons and gear up for the first tier of raiding.

So far, from the videos and articles I read, I like what GW2 is offering. You can take your time in this, without much pressure, and with no real endgame (well, the fight against Zhaitan is the climax in the story). The lore seems nice, dynamic events are very interesting, gameplay can be hectic, and the "No holy trinity!" system put a bit more emphasis on teamwork and skill, rather than your role.

Like I say above, watch some youtube videos. Particularly, the latest from Yogscast and Totalbiscuit (I like their commentary style)

Still having such experience curve concept? They said that they wants players to enjoy the game, not to punish the players.

For unknown reason, although i actually already look through GW2 official site, and some demo video on YouTube (those recorded in some whatever tech event)- I still hard to get myself convinced "this IS a good game". Maybe once you play a really good game that appeal to you, and the next 20 games you played are ALL CRAPS... well...

Very nice and informative channel, didn't noticed these press conference stuff before. nod.gif Will look into those.

Hmm, the dynamic event system replacing traditional quests looks interesting. Played RIFT for a while with their rifts popping out randomly (dynamic grouping too, reward based on contribution, BUT broken on higher level abuse low level rifts problem), unfortunately the rift-contents were not really random but fixed stages every time.

Actually I never liked random-placed PvP with no actual sort of a ranking. Structured PvP with equal gear and level? That makes me think about Atlantica's Colosseum League system which is something similiar. Well yeah I can accept that sort of PvP better which is organised.

Not going to know until we play the game itself. Though I hate the idea of pumping up the mob in specific location until there no way to solo even if you're super overpower. Hope this not happens in GW2.

There is a system call the side-kick system in GW2 basically the system will kick your level and skills down to the level of that content you are participating in so that you won't be overpowered and still have fun in lower level area after you have reach high level, so there won't be a level 50 player killing all the mobs or 1 shot-ing the dynamic event boss in a lvl 10 area....

Structured PvP is with equal gears and level, even from lvl 1 you can Q in Structured PvP, once you enter all your class skill will be made available to you...I'm not too sure about the gear tho...

i believe that guild wars should be solo-able if you want to.
more party members means more powerful mobs like in diablo 3.

For those of you still wondering if 60 USD is worth it. Think of all the shit you buy nowadays for 60 bucks. You get 6-7 hours playtime at best. With this, you might play it over the weekend for abit but it's worth is MUCH more than that seeing as content is rife, definitely more so than other 60 dollar titles on the market today. For me it was a simple decision as to paying a one time fee for a triple A mmo.
