right, first time poster here. I am stoked to play Guild Wars 2 (mostly because I need a new MMO, and restarting WoW+all expansions on a different region is very expensive). I was thinking of playing the GW but reckon' it was more PvP-centric, whereas I am more PvE-guy.

Guild Wars 2 seems to cater for both.

Question though: the one offered is the digital edition for US version?

We can join multiple guilds anyway, just make a guild called <lowyat> for any interested forumers.

Ye, I think this is true as well. So you can join whatever guild you want and a LYN guild at the same time

So, when you think GW2 will be released? I dont think they will release so close to D3 (May 15th) , nor will they do it in April, so ... June ?
*
June maybe... April is too short notice with all the Preorder and Beta-Events that they are planning. They do want to release it in the summer holidays as well, so emaybe May-July window.

Number of things about the chart, it is assumed that players will put points in increments of 5, because you only unlock traits every 5 points. Also, You have 916 base in ALL stats. With pvp gear you get 813/580/580 to primary/secondary/tertiary stat from your amulet and +60 per piece for slotting your armor/weapons. Another ~200 from set bonuses. So the 700 from traits isnt a huge deal. Your choice of amulet matters more.
*
I would like to disagree... If you put the full 30 points in one trait line, you will gain either 300 points in one stats and 30% increased duration/pool/pet attribute (depend on the profession specific stat), or 300 points in TWO stat

If you say you will gain 800 stat point from your amulet, by fully investing 30 points in one trait line, you will get 37.5% worth of that amulet. If you are boosting your secondary stat, by fully investing 30 points, you are gaining more than 50% worth.

If you pump everything in toughness/vitality, you'll be hard to kill. unfortunately, you are also hard-pressed to kill someone/something. The vice-versa is also correct (like in PvE standpoint, you'll be dishing out major damage, but you'll die from two or three hits from the mob)

From /vg/ GW2 general thread

NEXT BETA:

Friday, March 23 to Sunday, March 25
Press will play one day more than everyone else
Embargo lift Monday, March 26, 6:00AM PDT

Didn't find any information about this when I try to cross-check, other than "late March for first Beta Event"

does this means i need to pay like around RM180 for this game.
Then i will need real money to buy shop items unless i farm for it....

and i will be paying USD rate with RM salary?
Is this game that good?  Just wondering.
*
Wouldn't say this is going to be pay2win. But then again, I played Rappelz...

I guess this would just a matter on how grindy things going to be. If ArenaNet kept it's word that levelling going to be linear instead of exponential (i.e 1 1/2 hour to level one level), then you can pass on EXP boosters. Dyes and cosmetics are that, cosmetics.

DE = dynamic events.

that's the problem with skills, it devolves into pressing the button when it's off cooldown instead of waiting for the right time to use it.
*
Think I read that one, /vg/ linked it to the reddit thread, but I think I lost the link.

The opponents to this statement state that:
1) If you are fighting one mob of the same level, then you are going to survive it.
2) If you are fighting one mob one or two levels above you, you are going to have a bit of a problem.
3) If you are fighting multiple mobs, then time to position and dodge.

I am not sure, but from my skimming, that's the gist of it. The guy who said that skid around the question "What level are you?", finally says "below 30".

EDIT: think I found it

Reddit and /vg/ seems ok for information, though Guru did a link compendium for the first press Beta. I am not sure if they are doing the same for the second Beta.

Also, TB blasted those who say PvE is mindless as "bullshit". I need to hear his podcast/watch the video later to be honest.

i heard that the release date gonna be early - mid 2013, is that true?
*
The source of that is from an interview Colin gave to the GW2 wiki staff.

Also includes that Zhaitan going to be controlled by ANet's employees.

And it was published on April 1st, 2012.

can someone enlighten me how thisĀ  pre-purchase works? rclxub.gif
*
Preorder = RESERVE a copy and get it when it is released. Prepurchase = BUY the game and get it when it is released.

IF I am not mistaken, that is.

yeah i guess so, digital edition would be waaay simpler than buying the standard edition/CE. hopefully i can buy from the website directly

on a side note, i heard there will be oceanic servers, fingers crossed =x
*
The one from the GW2 website is for the digital edition, I believe.

And it is way simpler, all you need to have is a 25GB space (according to the website) and an Internet connection to download that 25GB =P.

=D. Well, with the access to the beta events, I believe you can predownload the game, and then just patch it all the way to the real game tongue.gif

Q: Will Guild Wars 2 have Dedicated Oceanic servers for customers in Australia & New Zealand?

A: Get Excited. Yes. ANZ players will connect to game servers running in the US, but they will get their patch data from local cache servers (that is, actually hosted locally in ANZ). The game should run well from the US, and having local patch servers means that patches should be as quick as they are anywhere else in the world.
