I'm still thinking to buy or not. I hate the kind of feeling when i burn $50-$60 USD in retail games or MMO subscription, and only to become "DAMN I HATE THAT GAME" later on.

So if anyone will be so kind to answer a few of rather important questions below. I never played GW1 so I have no idea what's the "style" of this game going to be.

QUOTE
the player will have the ultimate choice in whether or not to engage in PvP, and won’t be forced to participate if he or she isn’t a fan1of that type of game play.

1, the No.1 most important thing- I dislike AION. I hate to get raped when I just mind my own business. The quote above sounds Ok to me. But before getting a full understanding of GW2's PvP system I still feels very skeptic. I read that there are two modes- W2W and duel. Anything you can add?

2, what is the leveling, quest systems involved? I getting tired of - "playing because need to reach X levels to unlock X things". The game should provide plenty of USEFUL contents instead of just grinding quests, talking to NPC whole day and then stare on the exp bar hopefully it fills out quick. The more MMO I play, the more I hate to read those damned quests articles because they are pointless and didn't entertain me.

3, equipment enchantment, modifications? What kind of system in GW2? NOOOOOOOOOO MOREEEEEEEEEEE +10 please.

4, another important factor- is there enough contents to SOLO? Including solo instance. Usually when I start a MMO I will mostly be a loner for a few months, or maybe forever if there is a choice. I hate to look at the list of dungeons and solo content is like only 5% of the list... Do GW2's content difficulty scales according to player and amount of players involved? That will be nice.

5, in game currency system? I hope there no "bound" thing or at least don't enforce it too strictly -.-

To get a game that can really last me over a year (or even over a few months) is not going to be easy. Call me too picky but yeah, after playing many titles and seeing what is good and what is bad the game have to offer... It will be nice if GW2 also offer a tryout period with limited contents.

For unknown reason, although i actually already look through GW2 official site, and some demo video on YouTube (those recorded in some whatever tech event)- I still hard to get myself convinced "this IS a good game". Maybe once you play a really good game that appeal to you, and the next 20 games you played are ALL CRAPS... well...

QUOTE
2. No. They make different approach for pve http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9A6CEKDYr8 One of the example video.
Very nice and informative channel, didn't noticed these press conference stuff before. nod.gif Will look into those.

Hmm, the dynamic event system replacing traditional quests looks interesting. Played RIFT for a while with their rifts popping out randomly (dynamic grouping too, reward based on contribution, BUT broken on higher level abuse low level rifts problem), unfortunately the rift-contents were not really random but fixed stages every time.

Actually I never liked random-placed PvP with no actual sort of a ranking. Structured PvP with equal gear and level? That makes me think about Atlantica's Colosseum League system which is something similiar. Well yeah I can accept that sort of PvP better which is organised.

Dungeons needs 5 man

Not going to know until we play the game itself. Though I hate the idea of pumping up the mob in specific location until there no way to solo even if you're super overpower. Hope this not happens in GW2.

The whole Europe/US thing kinda very confusing... Dev say they are datacenter, and have solution for *whatever that problem is*... And whoever not in those region default in US...

Seriously US ping better than Europe is it -.- I play game hosted in US not much ping problem but AION EU is quite bad, double...

anyway, folks can join and represent many guilds so there is a certain amount of flexibility there i believe.

hmm right, that function... but I guess it is better to stay contribution in one guild to earn points for guild items hmm.gif unless the point is too easy to earn or those item are too useless... maybe they make different guild different item, random? hmm.gif hmm.gif interesting.

To tell the truth I'm quite worried for what I paid. Will the art-style suit my liking? Will there be extensive character appearance functionality? Market other than broker/auction? Rare items/gears? Awarding events throughout the year? Extra contents for free or need to wait for expansion pack <- OMGGG? Cash shop (actually I wish there is one)?

Not even know where to start. I played range (bow) for years, tired. Recently love to play 2-hand sword (greatsword), maybe I should try something new in GW2 hmm... Not really the kind that like magic and assassino. Too bad that elementalist conjure weapon is limited in charge usage... or I'll go elementalist + greatsword for sure............................. something that out of conventional... whistling.gif

Thanks for the info.

Yeah it's sort of normal I guess, after you play so many MMOs out there you will certainly take the best bit from every one of them, and hopefully they come together into one great game. So the expectation for this "new generation" MMO is rather high. sweat.gif

Art-style is actually something hard to describe, but with what NCSoft have under their flag it's actually quite good in term of design, idea, animation, etc. AION is very good in world design especially with the updated graphic engine, it's gorgeous. But it's equipment design kinda a little bit too "over-fantasy" to suit my liking (so I choose to skin them into costume). And yes I do want to see those skin/remodel/dye function appear in GW2.... These little functions can make players glues to the game for a long period. The biggest thing I will avoid in MMO is.... "cartoonish" visual style. This is why I am a little bit worried after watching those YouTube videos. But oh well the game is not finalize yet... Well if this game uses CryEngine (v2 on AION) or UnrealEngine3 (like NCSoft's Blade&Soul) I'll totally buy it. But this is suppose to be an upgraded GW1 engine is it?

QUOTE
We also like the tradability of gems and gold because it makes the rest of the game’s economy more compelling. We’ll have a player-to-player Trading Post in the game—it’s like an auction house but better—which we’ll discuss in an upcoming blog post.

Can't wait to get that detail. One distinctive feature a MMO that I spent over 2 years in it is the market system. Full player-to-player trading on everything available in the game. The most important bit is the automated price regulation (reduce price over time if players undercut you to keep items selling). I hate auction house, it is clumsy in navigation, inefficient in displaying large amount of data, limited time for item posting (like 24 hours up to 7 days), cannot buy in amount we wanted, no automated price regulation... If anyone played Atlantica you'll know what I mean, I think DragonNest have that function too but I never played it.

I usually love direct-damage-dealing sort of class... Once the beta weekend here I gonna play 24-hours non stop whistling.gif whistling.gif

@M1X, yeah it maybe in french, but this is an idea view of the microtransaction shop in GW2.

That's what I'm talking about, player-to-player trading, quick-and-simple item listing, buy in any amount. Though I hope there is a price regulation system or otherwise item will never sell as players keep on undercuting each other hmm.gif There seems to be also an order system to order item in price we wanted hmm.gif The panel seems can be accessed anywhere but item pickup need to talk to NPC hmm.gif

Seriously anyone here that played in whatever beta before, what is your system spec (CPU, GC), resolution, quality settings, and framerate you got?

Well 5 more days to try it myself... I bet I need a new graphic card. I really don't want to drop below 45fps on max possible settings + 2xAA 8xAF...

I read somewhere saying the new client is 15GB+ around. And dammit today my net busted. WTF SO SLOW!!user posted image

Oh the other hand... I don't ever think HD6850 going to run this game smoothly on 1080. What I have in mind is, instead of changing to 7870 or something... I want to go cross fire to get rid of the hassle trying to sell the extra card. Crossfire 6850 sounds OK, read most tech forum and pretty recommended... Forgot how much is my PSU but I think it is Sigmatek 600W (it wont have enough 6-pin socket!!!!)... user posted image I thoguht most 6850 just need ONE 6-pin power port? Why Asus version need two...
