hmmm.. so how exactly should i deal with him these 2 weeks? I actually can already handfeed him, he's quite an eater for a small fella, it's just that without food, even when my hand doesn't smell of anything, he will just bite me, sometimes running across the cage to bite me when he sees my hand in the cage... should i still handfeed him or leave him completely untouched for now? i never had this problem with syrians...
*
Those Syrian is for beginner, sure u dont face the same with WW.
u can just offer some treat from out of the cage, between the bar,try to give a "kuaci" @ mealworm.
make sure if u want to handle a hams, dont pick up from up,try just scoop ur hams.
between this period, hamster will stress 4sure and they tend to be aggressive and active.

remember,patient is the key. icon_rolleyes.gif

Actually dwarf and syrian r the same if i'm not wrong, just syrian is better for beginner bcos they r bigger and easy to hold them as they wont escape dat easily.Temperament i dun think there is any different, juz they hav their own personalities

Dwarf or syrian is the same. As hyourin said, syrian is more suitable for beginner/kids becoz they are easier to hold and catch since their size bigger.. Dwarf is much smaller and more fragile, they run faster and harder to catch...

Their temperament largely dpend on the seller/breeder. If they are very used to be handle by human, they can easily adapt to new owner.

So far, i haven encounter any big prob with Hermes. Jus once he bite me because he is kinda nervous when entered my room that fulled of different animals. After that, he is doin extremely fine with me. biggrin.gif

@Lawrence, i noticed u adopted a few animals. But pls study and research, is good you can ask opinion from experienced owner here, but there are alot basic thing u can easily read from the net.

Some questions are jus keep on repeat and repeat, although it's already stated on the first page.

Food are well eaten , but then just intend to pour it all out cause of the light bowl , well im buying exo-terra dish for them = )

Water bottle , i didt really see them drinking much , and i saw someone asking the same question as me but some experienced guy said they might even consume few drops of water a day but more water is consumed by the pregnent's one

you better separate the syrians. It is already stated that syrians are solitary, why still keep together?

In case you don't know what solitary means. Here is the meaning from dictionary.com.

QUOTE
Solitary

solâ‹…iâ‹…tarâ‹…y
/ˈsɒlɪˌtɛri/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [sol-i-ter-ee] Show IPA adjective, noun, plural -tar⋅ies.
–adjective
1.  alone; without companions; unattended: a solitary passer-by.
2.  living alone; avoiding the society of others: a solitary existence.
3.  by itself; alone: one solitary house.
4.  characterized by the absence of companions: a solitary journey.
5.  done without assistance or accompaniment; done in solitude: solitary chores.
6.  being the only one: a solitary exception.
7.  characterized by solitude, as a place; unfrequented, secluded, or lonely: a solitary cabin in the woods.
8.  Zoology. living habitually alone or in pairs, as certain wasps. Compare social (def. 10).
–noun

10.  a person who lives in solitude from religious motives.

So please do the correct and humane thing and separate the syrians into individual tanks.

Are you couple who bought the WW today in PS? hmm.gif

Just leave the WW alone for 2 days before handling him, this is to let him get use to the new environment. I don't think he is aggressive and wanna attack you as he is tame enough for you to hand feed. Maybe he is too curious to have human touch. WW are very curious hamster wheres Syrians are a bit lazy and slow. That's why WW look like very aggressive and wanna attack. You'll be fine. We also just bought a female WW in PS today. biggrin.gif

From my past experiences, yes mama hamsters do drink super alot of water due to breastfeeding babies. Moreover, they need alot of nutrient foods to gain back more energy.

Regarding the pee issue, I suggest u just leave it as it is and minimal the disturbance to the mama and the babies. Just move the cage to other places will do. The mama hamster will handle the other problems inside the cage herself. So basically just need to provide sufficient food and water to her for the 1st 2 weeks.

U know wat Eric,
The pee place looks very watery if didnt clean em.
Looks like a small pond edi..& her butt bcome very Dirty...
Hai... doh.gif

Ok here's a solution for the hole at your cage there. Get a marble white stone and place it at corner there. Make sure the stone is heavy enough so that the hamsters cannot move it by anyhow. The stone can act as a cooling place for the hamsters to sleep on as well. Every of my hamsters have their own sleeping stone lol... just like us human having our own boaster or pillow biggrin.gif

Hope that helps ^^
