hamsters face(esp the chin part) appear to be wet as if they're sweating if the cage or the weather is hot/stuffy or also due to poor ventilation. is there enough water for him in the cage? is the cage big enough and airy?

she'll definately drink if she's thirsty... maybe she hasn't notice where the bottle is or she is not used to the new place of the bottle. but i think she'll be fine. maybe every few hours you can hand-feed water to Min if you're afraid that she's not drinking at all.( by holding the bottle in front of Min.)

QUOTE(HyourinMaru @ Aug 20 2009, 02:29 PM) yes, that it something you have to consider...if its far and the weather is hot and if he/she is not used to travelling then i would suggest better not to take your hamster along...it is not ok to stress your hammie even for once in awhile....Added on August 20, 2009, 4:57 pm QUOTE(yana_adell @ Aug 20 2009, 04:04 PM) I am NOISY, hehehehehe.. some hamsters perform well in pairs...except for syrians..they can live in pair until three weeks of age..but after that they must be separated. i've had dwarfs before and i kept them in small groups and i did not have any problemo. if you wish to keep in pair it is fine...make make sure you keep an eye on them and watch out if they're fighting. But ya, I agree with you about separating the hamster lo, but still, I would advice to monitor them first, since no physical started yet, if symptoms of fighting comes, seperation is the only way. And they won't feel lonely that was what I thought few years back, must buy in pairs, but thats just something sellers say to make more sale, if I'm not mistaken, hamsters love being alone. I think la. Wa, you take public r, hmmm, dangerous la. Suddenly got 20stray cats chase you how? Usually petshop just wanna make more profit, ask us to buy pairs.. Actually hammies lurve to stay alone, coz they get more attention.. Example, (if not mistaken larh) ..Eric138 have his ONLY HERCULES.. & he is so CHUBBY.. Getting more ROUND everyday.. NoiZy, u buy which hams from LALABUBBLES??Wat sex? This post has been edited by sharkie28: Aug 20 2009, 04:57 PM |

QUOTE(Lawrence93 @ Aug 22 2009, 01:09 PM) guys , im planning to buy a pair of Syrians , im just wondering will they fight ? i use to be a 7 years hamster owner , when i was young i dunno what pair of hammies im raring so i am not sure yes, if you keep two syrian hamsters together they will fight, they're solitary and best kept 1 in a cage, the cage must be minimum 2 feet.guys if syrians is not a gud choice ? anyone can recommend me to a Bigger and Chubbier kind of hamster ? i prefer bigger hamster haha yes, syrians are perfect for beginners. i would suggest you to go do research before purchasing them, it is both good for you and your future pet. btw, syrians are the bigger ones. dwarfs are, well, u know dwarfs Added on August 22, 2009, 2:06 pmSmokey's debut on V13! he's disturbing me when i'm studying ![]() before he shifted to a mansion This post has been edited by sharkie28: Aug 22 2009, 02:06 PM |

QUOTE(yana_adell @ Aug 29 2009, 11:43 AM) Guys, if i'm, not mistaken i remember reading in another forum years ago that when a hamster drinks too much of water it could be that he/she is having diabetes(or wet-tail). either one. i'm not sure. i could be wrong.is it normal the new gave birth mama pee Too Much??? 1 day edi sweat larh the Pee place, the toilet sand become wet & sticky coz too much pee on it. I seen my gal drink much water, maybe becoz she's need to breastfeed babies, but cant stand to clean the pee place evry single day.. Any recommended?? |

QUOTE(DtG4207 @ Aug 30 2009, 10:17 PM) hi ppl, i've bought this new WW, 1st time keeping a dwarf after many syrians n while i did anticipate the differences, i didnt expect this naughty fella to be so damn aggressive... there are hardly any signs of fear or stress but everytime i put my hands in the cage it seriously tries to attack me... any ideas on how to deal with this? yeah,as said above they need at least 2 weeks(or more) to get used to their new environment. then slowly you can handfeed treats to them. make this a habit and they will know that your hand=fun. take them out often. getting bitten is something most hamster owners have to go through. you can never escape from it |

um...silent wheel doesn't come in 8 inch. perfect sized wheel for a syrian is 8 inch. you can get comfort wheel(8.5) or a wodent wheel(8).
and what bedding are you using? pine bedding are really bad for hamsters. some would recommend Chipsi pine bedding( but i'll try to avoid anything that has pine in it). or you can use Breeder's Celect with shredded toilet rolls. This post has been edited by sharkie28: Sep 5 2009, 11:24 AM |

QUOTE(DtG4207 @ Sep 5 2009, 05:33 PM) hi ppl, if some of u remember, i posted something about my new WW that is incredibly hyperactive, territorial and very very bitey. it's been a week and while he seems a little more settled, it is still quite evident that he does not want anyone to lay hands on anything in his cage, he would literally run n bite me if i tried to do so obviously. the only times i get to touch him is when he's eating something he really likes and even so he does try to turn around for a bite once in awhile... i seriously doubt this is normal and am close to conceding that it is his personality with not much there is to do about it as he was the little bit extra active one in the cage when i bought him... i have kept syrians before and if their behaviour can be used as reference, i'm pretty sure my WW is not scared or stressed as he does seem rather settled, just very territorial... but before i give up on ever being able to handle him, what are your thoughts or suggestions on this situation? how often do you handfeed him??? try placing your hand in the cage with his fav treat...and try taking him out often...you can use gloves(this is what my friend did)...take him out every night and let him run about you room for at least 10 minutes( and trust me hamsters love large spaces to run about)...and do not forget to supervise him. and while he runs around, sit on the floor with him and he'll come to sniff you, he can get used to your smell.i used these ways to tame smokey. and he'such a darling now! the idea is you must make these a habit. |
