Yick! Seems like we have the same HTiB- isn't that Sony DW Z777k or something like tat?
As i recall- it din have any optical input wo. I really got no clue on hope to optimize the sound. Any guide?

Btw- becareful, the TV could easily topple over. Do consider wall mount.

if not mistaken, use HDMI input>output component audio from TV>decoder for 5.1 or 7.1
u don't need to have a direct optical input to the ps3, but optical does makes things simpler to do.

PS3 >HDMI Cable> Sony Set >HDMI Cable> TV

Cannot also - Sony HTiB has not HDMI input.

Cannot for me. Dunno why? Tried before and it went mute.
But u tested and success, funny
I read the manual - in which it says the "TV" function audio input on the HTiB is via stereo jack.

Ie PS3 HMDI>TV. TV Stereo out>HTiB stereo input.
so the final HTiB output is merely steroe, in which no point as the TV's stereo already annoying loud.

If I am not wrong if your Sony Set has a HDMI output then:

It should be PS3 > HDMI Cable > Sony Set > HDMI Cable > TV HDMI1

Your DVD is a separate player? HDMI compatible as well?

Refer to the FAQ on post #1 - It is playable but not recommended as the quality of the pirated disc might damage your lens.

if i'm not mistaken, district 9 is a dvd movie right? you will get surround sound if you are playing dvd/vdc/cd directly inside your sony set or dvd player.. but not while you are playing games if you are connecting your ps3 sound output with to the dvd player or sony set with composite cable or the multicable which comes with the ps3..

ps3 > hdmi > tv
ps3 > composite > sony set
sony set > hdmi > TV

if you want surround sound from your games, your dvd player (which comes with the sony set) MUST have HDMI input or optical input. without these two input.. your games will only get stereo sound.

for surround to work on you ps3:
ps3->hdmi/optical cable->dvd player(which comes with you sony set)

ps3 > hdmi > tv ==> this will only give you stereo sound which output from your tv speaker
ps3 > composite > sony set ==> stereo sound from your sony set
sony set > hdmi > TV ==> surround sound for your dvd playback only
