For studio shooting (if you use your studio lights), just hook up one light to your a700 via sync cable. the rest will trigger via built-in slave cell.

flash trigger, if you're working within a short range like in a small studio space, just use sync cable is enough. no need to buy flash trigger.

If you have big hands, and would like a more solid feel camera, get a200.

The electronics are the same, just that a230 has been shrunk and several buttons have been removed. It's pretty much a cost reduction product, like the golf mk6 to the golf mk5.

btw, read back several pages, we've already discussed this in detail regarding the choice.

bottom line, i would not recommend the new a230 unless you're the sort of person who must have the latest in everything.. Sometimes being new doesn't mean it's any good.

Somehow, although I found that A200 has better ergonomics, the A230 is actually feel more solid in terms of build.

agree...anyway..both are ok for me...just which u prefer when u hold it.

btw i do like the 230 for the higher pop-up flash, but i like the easy access in A200 (the button and menu)

not really. the 2 sets which i managed to play about feels flimsy, especially the incorporation of the on off switch with the shutter, most of the time, i'll unintentionally turn the camera off instead of taking the shot. The on off switch is too easy to turn without any resistance.

The grip too has a tendency to be slippery after several minutes of use. Granted it could be my palm's sweaty but this doesn't happen at all with a200. All in all, the newer bodies feels like a downgrade from the a200. Granted it's target are for new photographers but it's stretching the limit on the alpha brand. We fall in love with a200, 300 and 350 due to the way it's build and its user friendiness. I can't recommend the a230 to my friends knowing that they'll not have the same experience as i had with my a200. My main gripe is how i cannot change the focus point of the fly with a230... By the time you go into the menus to change the focus point, your subject is already gone.

a200 uses cf & ms.

a230 uses sd & ms.

CF cards are know to be faster than sd.
