So fast selling your MBP already...?

My friend's offered to let me use his educational discount (he's a university lecturer) to buy one of the new MBPs, but I noticed during the checkout process that there doesn't seem to be any sort of verification of eligibility. I'm holding off on confirming the order because I'm a little wary of what issues this might bring up later on--any thoughts?

There would be no problems as there won't be any verification whether you're a student or not. But just don't take advantage on the student discounted price, man. Unless you're A student yourself. Take point on the present tense I am using.

i hardly even use my 9600gt plus 330M doesnt have much to do with target battery life, that's what the intel HD is for

anyway dun take me wrong, it's not like im complaining or anything if the GT330M is midrange then good lah. really eager to see how they switch GPU, wont have screen flicker or anything?

So what, I should pay several hundred extra even though I'm trying to do this fairly legitimately? Good Lord.

yeap, feel like tha gap from current to latest it too big. decided to change at last. going to purchase the highest end 15" with edu pricing(7399->6499) if i successfully to sell my current mac.

Added on April 15, 2010, 7:17 amhaha, i understand that! but that is still depends on you. if you can purchase it thru edu pricing legally, i really see no point to wasting the saved up for rm400-700. But for those who have no friends/children tat study in U but faking it, this is not encouraged to do so. I think its all about ethics.

I ordered the stock one. Everything stock. I plan to upgrade it myself.
@ginolo: I agree with you. You think what is fair. You are still studying or have relatives studying or buying for someone(student) then you are entitled

Status showing mine is at Subang airport already .. but arghh, probably missed morning delivery due to delay in transportation as in the shipment status. Do they do afternoon delivery??? or DHL only do one round a day?

I spoke to an Apple rep and he said they apparently randomly performs checks to verify your status as a student..which will require you to send them a letter from the uni of your status or a scanned copy of your student ID. So i guess you should at least get one ready, just in case

In UK, to be eligible, you need to buy either at university's stores or through unversities network. They seem to keep track of the ip addresses In Malaysia, I believe Sapura has stores in MMU Cyberjaya and Malacca campuses.. no where else.

On the Subang thingy, guess your mouse and case caused the delay .. arghh... .... heheh ..

Added on April 15, 2010, 9:12 amOh BTW, for those of you who're getting the 15" & 17" MBP anytime soon .. please be aware that Apple has just push out an update for the display driver .. so, do a software update once you receive yours ..

Cistoms better not mess around with our stuff!

how u check the status? i logged in tru apple store and didn't see any status.. btw.. i ordered a custom spec yesterday.. u order the non-custom set?

You can only track once your unit gets shipped out..Apple will send you an email about it...custom configs will take a little longer

If you've customised yours, it probably need to wait for a while until you get the shipping notification from Apple. When you've got this, you could track where it is. Stock standard comes from Singapore, customised one comes from Shanghai I believe.

okok.. thanks for the reply.. i cant wait to have a first touch on first Mac i checked just now.. in apple store shows "NOT YET SHIPPED" i only customise the LCD.. hope they can fix it faster

I know EXACTLY how you feel! The wait is killing me!! Anyone getting AppleCare for their new MBPs? Thinking of getting it..maybe later in the year
