Hi everyone,

I've just sent my Nokia N97 back to the shop for a firmware flash because I was having a few battery issues with my phone. The battery sort of shorted itself out from 4 bars to 1 bar the other day and it turned off my phone. The battery life is pretty bad nowadays and I have to charge it everyday or risk it running out of battery on the next day. Also, my contacts which I mark as "favourite" no longer appear as names in my SMS'es when I receive. I see their number, +60123456789 instead.

He claims that this is because I installed Garmin unofficially through the instructions provided here on LYN.(I went one step further and installed the 5.00.50 version) Is this possible?

Not too sure about the battery problem if you're not on Dual mode which drains the battery faster compared to GSM mode but I believe the reason only numbers are being shown in your Inbox is due to duplicated contacts which you probably have the same person in both your Sim card and phone memory.

The claim about Garmin is BS. Some people just have to put the blame on something else so they get to avoid their responsibility for the products sold.

Yes, It happened only when you plug your data cable into PC and do transfer, and then you just plug the cable out. Best bet is, remove the hardware safely till you heard/see the white LED charging gone off. Then try unplug it. See if the matter still persist or not?

ok, i got click the "remove drive" thingy b4 i unplug, but din notice the LED charging part... will try it and see how, thanks bro...

Try reset everything back to factory setting or download the Nokia Energy Profiler to see what consuming your battery that bad. Google yourself to find out the problem. I suspect there's Widget consuming them. Reset phone might solve some or all of your problem above.

OVI Files Now are free and 10GB complimentary are given. Now you can remote access your computer's files anytime and anywhere.

Mean you will have a super big size of storage with loaded of photos, musics, videos and all that you want.

My share of the OVI Files

Found out some interesting stuff.

I'm not responsible for this. Test at your own risk. Do tell us the result though.

Hard Reset :
For Nokia N97: Press both Shift keys + space bar and BackShift, hold, turn on the phone.

hey, is the format supported by ovi suite? What converter are you using? It only works if the format is avi and most of my files are rmvb. I have tried to convert to mp4 from rmvb but it can't be opened using the phone. sighh

Simple.

First, download "Any Video Converter".

Convert your files to the preset "MPEG-4 Mobile Phone" format. Note: for Blu-Ray movies, you have to convert the video files one by one (usually 8 of them for one movie).

After the conversion, download "Free Video Joiner".

Import all your converted MPEG-4 videos into Free Video Joiner and just click on the JOIN button.

Ta-dah!
