one thing i found out about Jet is that it has no more than 32mb of ram. possibly even less (16mb or 8mb).

why?

Jet cant open more than 3 heavy applications. LBS, java game, and music player was not possible.

Jet lag when browsing photos, media and videos.

heavy transition effect causes severe lag, thats why Samsung removes it. i mean, the different kind of transition effect which only found on ancient jet firmware.

same thing happens to LG arena which has 8mb of ram.
*
i don't have any lagging after i flashed to XEII2 and heavy applications are okay.. BUT sometimes when i try to preview pics from the camera screen, it says memory full. hmm hmm.gif

Is Samsung Jet still available ?? And is there any big different between Omnia II and Jet ? Since I know that Omnia II is 3.7 inch screen while Jet is only 3.1 and Omnia II is using Window Mobile 6.1 but what about Jet ?

of course Samsung Jet is still available.. it is relatively new in Malaysia.

Jet is run on Samsung's proprietary OS called Touchwiz 2.0. it is exclusive to Samsung phones.

another difference is that Jet has a fast processor, which makes the touchscreen impressively responsive. typing an SMS is like typing on a normal keypad.. for me!

other than that, i do not know the difference between Omnia apart from the screen size, OS, speed. i have not played nor have bothered to read into details about Omnia.. biggrin.gif

I see because I found out that both are the same except the screen and the OS I guess ? The others seem identical and yet its a huge bargain between Omnia II and Jet since the price for Jet is much more cheaper than Omnia II. I just watched some review in Youtube about the Omnia II and found out that its kinda lag

Can anyone recommend a good case for the Jet? I'm planning on getting one as the provided pouch is more annoying than useful. It's either that or maybe a Invisible Shield....

Thats about the same price they are offering in Lowyat. Just the basic stuff, no memory card.

Got mine at 1580, with 4gb mem card and a in-car charger.

Flashed it to XEII2 on the 2nd day and Been using it for a week now.

looking for a good case or a flip case now.

hmm, no lag if u open the music player? i mean when browsing through musics in the album there(with all the album pics also)? worst is in the horizontal mode in music player, that function cant be used at all, so lag.

I watched a 15 minutes video clip on the phone with no overheating issues. Will try watching a longer video and test

For the pouch, i have to slide the phone out to use or answer call. Quite troublesome for me actually.

u can email samsung malaysia abt the latest fw they have. i watched "surrogates",which is abt 1hr 20 mins and it did not heat up...that dude from gsm arena must be running a lot of app at the same time that causes heat up.
so far used one month no hardware issue, hopefully this phone can last more than a year:D

if u follow the news about touchwiz, widget..u'll knwo more why there's ver limited right now..its a new OS by samsung, so dont expect something like iphone app store or symbian apps.. if u update to latest firmware, theres an addition widget for facebook, twitter etc. real widget, not just shortcut..

i do think thats only a myth about samsung phone biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

samsung hardware is one of the best out there.. FYI, iphone using samsung processor, some of SE model(like C905) use samsung camera hardware..

and samsung is one of the largest electronics manufacturer..

samsung phone dies etc depends on how people use it.. how people take care of their things etc.

JET heated after 20 mins of watching videos?? i'm having no problem watching videos for hours..

off topic: i'm quite impressed that this thread is quite active n popular..for specific discussion about phone, have about 500 replies rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

1) i think.. all phone manufacturers don't like ppl flashing their own phones because it voids the warranty. it's best to flash with the service center.

2) no excessive heat when watching vids for a long time. not always true..

3) the pouch, yes, it covers the whole phone except the speaker at the back and the top part. the trick is to pinch the bottom end of the pouch to make the phone come out for quick access to see who's calling. but those who prefer to see who's calling right away won't like the pouch.. but i personally like it as it protects the phone nicely and hides it from evil prying eyes. flex.gif

4) i have been using the Jet for 1 month+ and no hardware issues at all up til now. Dropped the phone only once.

5) i don't think it's fair to say samsung phone dies after 1 year++. as far as i know, samsung basic phones are really good and they last for quite some time (my dad has been using his Samsung flip phone for almost 5 years). if u take good care of it, i believe any mobile phone can last longer than expected. however, if there is something wrong with ur phone, make sure u have the warranty. (the least for Samsung phone is 1 year warranty)

6) i agree that the support from Samsung for Jet is lacking, but about the widgets- like dauf87 said, it is not an iphone or a symbian or a windows mobile phone.. don't expect to add apps as you like! Samsung Jet is run on Touchwiz 2.0, which also means widgets will come along as Samsung updates the Touchwiz.

I agree with the credibility of Samsung hardwares as said by dauf87. biggrin.gif

Sounds like BADASSS.....

Really, i don't see how they're gonna pull it off. So many established competitor and with the Rise of the Android, and the Return of Microsoft(WM 7 next year), IPhone, and trusty Symbian. Samsung is just a small fish in software development....they're big in hardware, not software.
