@blstz,
Hmm.. perhaps U can check and see if anyone received the RM500 rebate post card from Maxis; that way you don't need to sign on a 24 month plan. Personally, I think the 24 month plan is a bit too long; considering I'm expecting Apple to announce a new iPhone by mid 2010.

hmm how can i miss dat, maybe because the first ivalue plan(pre-revised) wasnt so flexible (at that time, no sms bundled, n 333 minutes call time only for maxis to maxis) so i totally ignored ivalue plans. BTW to those that are using ivalue, how does ur previous bill went? Many extra charges?

@groggysquirrel,
It's not the same because if you sign up for iValue 1 for a period of 24 months, your i3GS 32GB costs only RM1990 as opposed to paying RM2990 with this UOB promotion.  Also, if U don't make much calls, Y go with topping up RM100 p/month?  And yes, 500MB should be suffice provided you don't use it to download stuff.
*
so lets just focus on rm100/month, if i don't make much call, personally i think its not worth it to go for either plan from maxis or uob. however, if i make alot calls n sms which cost within rm100, isnt it better for choosing uob's? since theres rm100 air time i pay every month and i get 500mb free data as well

@btr999,
The difference then would be the call rates + the price of the actual i3GS. Like I said, the i3GS on the UOB plan is priced at full price.

I am on a Value Plan 80 but my bill is about RM150 - RM200 every month. I want a 16gb iPhone 3G[S], what is a good plan for me?

For a 12 month interest free installment, the phone goes for RM1990. Does that mean I take RM1990 / 12 mths = RM165.84 on a monthly basis on top of the iValue 100 commitment?

Additionally I would like to ask about the free benefit data, SMS, MMS - will they be available on the 2nd month if unfinished on the first month or is it free monthly? E.g. When I only used 200MB on the first month, will the balance 300MB be forwarded to the next month? Do I get 500MB data free every month?

Lastly, I saw at the disclaimer "Value 1 at RM400 for 24 months and RM200 for 12 months" What does it mean?

1. the same question has raised over and over again in this thread. and again, it all boils down to your usage. if your spend mostly on calls, opt for iValue then. iData is for those who would like keep their current plan (VP50, 80 etc.), subscribe to data usage and obtain the iPhone at a subsidized price.

2. yes. installment plans are only available for credit card holders for selected banks. do check out the first page.

3. no. it will not be brought forward.

4. read the fine prints. it's the prepayment fees aka advance payment.

Hi teikwing,
Thank you so much for replying. iData means we can use iPhone for surfing the web and also A-GPS with faster lock on is it?

Not sure if this is the calculation but appreciate anyone who can correct me:

Value Plan = RM80
iData Value Plan 2 = RM50 (for 500MB)
32GB iPhone 3GS = RM2590 / 12 mths = RM215.84

Meaning, my monthly Maxis bill will be RM80 + RM50 + RM215.84 for 12 mths, total = RM345.84? And that is minimal considering I do stop at Value Plan RM80 which is rarely the case. Correct?

@Pennywise,
Yes that is right only if the 0% interest installment applies for the iData plans.

tinkerbel,
Thanks for the confirmation. I most probably will just go with this package as it enables me to surf the net.

teikwing,
Thank you too!

Hey guys, i just placed an order for my iPhone 3GS 16GB today. Actually there is a way to switch over to Maxis with MNP and still get the 24 month contract. I was told that they (MEP) can register my number as a company line (although the bill will still be sent to my address and the line under my name) and then i can sign up for 24 month. And apparently if you sign up as a company line, you get your iPhone faster (2-3 weeks). But i still chose the iData plan because it was more suitable for me.

Anyway, i have a question. I asked the MEP about using credit card flexi payment, they said they charge 4% for all credit cards. But according to this thread's first page, Citibank and HSBC cardholders wont be charged interest. Can someone clarify this because i cant find any detailed information on Maxis website.

Thanks! smile.gif

edited: I just noticed Maxis stated the 0% Flexi plan on the iValue plan site but not on the iData, but my Maxis agent told me can do flexi payment with interest? rclxub.gif

there's no thread about using maxis iphone plan at overseas so i guess i will just post my question here.
i've just informed that my iphone 3gs has arrived and now i need to make decision which plan to choose. at first i wanted to choose ivalue 2 24 months contract, but i just informed that i will be working at singapore and uk for 6 months(going to sg in november). so i need to know can i still use maxis plan at these two countries? (i dont feel like going for 12 months contract coz i will come back malaysia in 1 yr)

yes, you can if you opt for roaming. however, call/sms rates are based on roaming rates which can be quite expensive.

@groggysquirrel,
Yes roaming charges applies to data services as well and it can sometimes be costlier than voice calls.

My suggestion is for you to perhaps give up this set [or sell it to a friend of urs who's interested in getting one!] or go with the cheapest available plan; maybe if you can, sign it on with iData 1 plan (that way you can cancel it anytime and u won't need to worry about being stuck on a contract)
