I wonder if we are all taken for a ride by Maxis.

Seriously Malaysians would consider a law suit for the delay especially for those who waited for > 30 days. I remember an ad in the papers 2 weeks ago promoting the iPhone 3GS and telling people to book it in time for Raya.

It is a bit of b*ll as we all know that the waiting time is long.

If only some ingenious guy among us would consider some legal suit...I wonder if the truth will be unmask.

QUOTE(blacktrix @ Sep 17 2009, 09:34 AM)
Probably Cempaka school students will have to submit their offer letter (which they haven't gotten yet in the first place.... probably) to a Maxis rep at the school. Then they have to wait in a long line, because other students also doing the same thing. Once they get to the rep, they have to fill up another form of their details, and then ask them to queue up again to submit to ANOTHER Maxis Rep. Then once they get to that rep, they will give them a number and ask them to return to the counter in another 30 days time before they can receive their phones.
Once the 30 days come by, they find out that their phones still hasn't come in yet. When asked why? The rep just answers "I'm just a rep here. I got no control over things. You should call Maxis and ask them."

So the student calls up Maxis, put on hold, and then asks to enter their booking number. The student then gives the number, only to find out that their booking number is not a regular booking number, and therefor, can't be checked over the phone. They will have to visit their Maxis Rep in cempaka for more details.

The student then goes back to Cempaka, and tells the rep their problem, and they said, come back in a weeks time, that's when our stock is about to arrive.
So they go back in a weeks time, only to find out that the color they want (regardless of Black or White) is out of stock and will have to wait. The students then asks if they can just take whatever color is available, and the Maxis Rep says they can't, because it's booked under that color. The student asks if they can collect it at a Maxis store, and they said can't, because it's a special promotion and only authorize Maxis Reps at cempaka can distribute the iPhones.

So they wait, and wait, and then they get a call from the Maxis rep that they can collect their phones, and when they arrive there to collect, they have to wait another hour or so because all the other students also want to collect their phones. When they finally receive the phone in their hands to download class assignments and whatnot, they realize that they haven't been given a data plan, thus have to pay the full amount, which given the size of assignments these days, could cost as much as the phones themselves.

At the end of the day, they STILL have to pay and their semester almost over
Are you REAALLLLLYYYYYYY sure Cempaka students have it made??????
*
Dude... they ALREADY got their iPhones 3GS a few days ago!

Hmm...can I ask you guys most of you take one year or two year contract? I'm still deciding between one or two years contract..
*
I took the 24 mths contract cause it makes no difference to me since I've already been a Maxis user for more than a decade! I did ask them if they had a 48 mths contract hoping to get the iPhone much much cheaper tongue.gif

I took the two year contract because most of my calls now are made to Maxis. Even if I require to made calls to other telecommunication provider networks, I have a second phone. smile.gif

three points to observe here:

1. "up to" - hence chances are, you will be getting a better deal selling the previous iPhone over here in LYN

2. "RM1200" - is only applicable for this round and it may be different the subsequent generation.

3. maxis and other networks are not obliged to offer anything more i.e. offer you a deal to "upgrade" at a special price because you have signed a contract afterall. the contract is serving its sole purpose in the first place. you are at complete mercy/discretion of maxis. AT & T was an example when 3G S was launched.

Got my phone today...
but, the experience of getting it today wasn't a good one.
1) i called maxis #123 lunch today, was told supply shortage bla bla bla. Demanded i do not want such excuses, just check with branch immediately. CSR said Maxis is giving out some mystery gift to compensate waiting customers.
2) #123 CSR called me back shortly, telling me that branch already got my phone and already sent notification to me.  hmm.gif  hmm.gif i retorted i did not get any notification, no calls no sms. Ok, never mind, i'll go to pyramid to collect it
3) shortly after work, 6.30pm went off to pyramid, massive jam due to rain. nevermind, i'm getting my i3gs.
4) reached maxis branch at 8pm. no one at reception, i stood there like an idiot, now my blood started boiling.
5) a guy approached me moments later, i told him i'm here for i3gs collection. Shown him my receipt. First response was, sorry sir, we are out of stock for 16GB.  shocking.gif

at this particular point, the anger went top of my head. i demanded to see manager immediately and did not want to speak to this fella (yes, i was rude, but should the staff be rude to a customer?)

6) manager came out, was a nice guy. Still, i was damn angry, and made a scene there. I complaint the attitude of the staff, about the whole booking experience, and the sh*t with notifications. The manager listened and went into check.
7) came out shortly and said, yea, your phone is here, the guy earlier did not check properly.
8) manager gave me a priority service and got my phone in less than 20 minutes time. i forgot about the mystery gift in the midst of it...  doh.gif

so, i booked on 16th Aug, got my phone on 16th Sept after so many words and "pleasantries" exchanged. Totally an unwanted experience.
Maxis, if you are reading this, pls clean up the whole BS... customers really appreciate it.

my situation exactly the same like yours!! i make few round complaints (if you want to read the story check on my post on saturday 12/9/09) the CSR called me back and say my phone ready to collect on 12/9 itself!!

1) told them i m here to collect the phone
2) they go and check and come back after 20mins say my phone is not ready
3) i told them i just received call and say my phone is ready to pickup ANYTIME. the lady went in to check again...another 15mins only come out and give me ticket to queue up to get the phone :s
4) my no. was 881, currently serving 880, i was quite happy as only need to wait for 1 person only.
5) 25mins passed...i fall asleep, they are still serving 880..the lady saw me fall asleep and pass me another number to wait
6) wait for another 15mins then only my turn. the guy serving me went in to DUNNO WHERE to get the stock which take hima another 15mins
7) finally the iphone box in front of me, open up and check..there alot of scratches on the phone, requested to change a new phone
8) the bloody guy go in for another 15mins to get new phone, by the time made payment everything it already 6pm

I want to ask you guys something, cause even i dont know this.
Firstly, i already received my iphone on the 20 something of last month, my 3gs 16 gig black.
Now this is the thing, my friend has a corporate account, and he has all the signatures to change his plan to iValue2 for a year.
Now this is what maxis is telling him and indirectly they are lying right out!
The iValue 2 for a year is 1790 wiyh the rm 200 deposit.
They are asking my friend to pay the rm 200 deposit and when he collects his phone he has to pay 1990 meaning he needs to pay an additional 200 as well!
-The additional 200 will not be deducted.
-This is the best part of the whole experience and its a good thing he recorded this call, the maxis Klcc manager also told him that I paid 1990 when i collected the phone meaning, 200 deposit and an additional 200 when i collected it.
-Thats a blatant lie, is this a new rule or something? I have no idea about this as when i collected my phone for 1 year , iValue 2, i paid 1790 at Maxis Klcc.
-Sigh if anyone of you guys have heard of this let me know.
-My friend is a Maxis corporate user.

Just to reclarify, I paid a deposit of 200 and paid 1790 .

They are asking my friend to pay 200 deposit and 1990 for the phone when he collects it. The additional 200 they he paid when he collects his phone will not be deducted in his phone bill.

Just ordered my iPhone today, here are the details:

Booked: 17 September
Model: iPhone 3GS 16GB Black
Outlet: Melaka Maxis Center, Mahkota Parade

The lady there told me the waiting time is 45 days now >.< new call from HQ telling them about it recently. So I guess i'll be waiting a long time haha.

Btw I was told if there was any changes to the iValue plans, we wont get affected. Meaning those using iPhone 3G iValue plans without the free SMS and MMS now wont have those free? and if next year they add more freebies we wont get it too? o.O

Oh yeah... you went to be a Hero? Hahaha! Congratulations man! I was considering too but I wasn't happy with the camera and such. Multimedia is important for me. I thought about HTC Touch Pro 2 but I am not a fan of rusty Windows Mobile interface (of course the Touch Flo 3D v2 is nice). Omnia HD didn't make it because of Symbian interface. So back at iPhone. Hehehe!
