Booked mine on 15th Aug at Gardens MV and like everyone else was told to wait 30days and I asked the manager is 30days he mentioned guaranteed and he politely said no.

So since the moment I left the Maxis center... I've already conditioned my mind, heart and soul to expect to get it mid of Sep at the earliest.

PS. They also didn't mentioned anything about a confirmation... just say wait for them to call me and thats it.

I just got off the phone with Maxis hotline... I called to check whether my booking was received and confirmed on their side. Apparently those who didn't purchase it via the website do not need a confirmation.

Also he said that stock has been coming in pretty smooth these past few days and mentioned I might get mine earlier than expected.

Well... lets take that as it is and not get too excited tongue.gif

I bought the 3G one and a half month before they launch 3GS.  I was so pissed off with their arrangement of launching!! I feel like i've been ripe off, cause the 3G version price drop drastically. Since maxis planned to launch 3GS, they shouldn't have launch 3G in the first place!!
*
Likewise... I also very nearly booked the 3G about the same time as madcatz but found out while reading various reviews online that the is a new version coming out with much better features. Hence I decided to wait.

But I do blame myself for not being decisive enough to buy it during launch and instead waited till 2 weeks ago.. LOL!

good news everyone..

i just came back from maxis centre the gardens.. at first, my purpose to maxis centre is to check my collection date.. when i reached there, like usual, press for numbers and wait until you get serve.. i bring along my receipt and tell the staff that im here to collect my iphone (booked mine on 1st of Aug and never receive any sms from them).. the staff took my receipt and look for my phone.. waited for 5 mins and the staff came out with a list of names.. surprisingly my name is not in the list!! however the staff double check the list to confirm my booking and he couldn't found my name neither.. he asked me to wait for 20mins and then another staff came out with my iphone.. woahh.. i can tell you that i was damn relieve at that moment !! after that, the staff proceed with the usual procedure.. i heard 1 of the staff ask who issue the phone to me since my name is not in the 4th batch list.. but luckily the senior staff told them he's the 1 who issue.. thumbs up to the senior staff for 1st come 1st serve basis.. after all the agreements and procedures, i went home happily with my new baby.. haha..

last but not least.. when i look at their 4th batch list, i saw those who made their bookings before 10th Aug is already available for collection.. for those who haven receive any sms or emails or calls from maxis gardens, i think you guys can just go to the maxis centre the gardens to collect your baby..
*
Congratz!! Well I booked mine there too but 2 weeks later (15th Aug) so hopefully I can get mine by early next month. The funny thing today upon reaching home, I saw my iPhone accessories I purchased from US arrived in the mail.

I've been admiring the casings and other stuff I bought for the past few hours tongue.gif

guys can someone help me,i got a question.
If someone has booked for 3gs from maxis white colour with ivalue plan and wanna transfer the booking to me...is that possible?what is the procedure?

another tricky part is i only want prepaid hotlink and black colour?

can someone advice how to go about this?
*
What I know from the Maxis centre at Gardens, once the booking has been made (means paid RM 200), you can ONLY change the plan and contract period. They specifically mentioned that the iPhone memory size, color, maxis account cannot be changed unless it is another family plan number.

But that is Gardens... who knows you might get lucky if you are persuasive enough. tongue.gif

Well guys.. .just home from Gardens MV... and guess what?

I GOT MY BLACK 32GB BEAUTY!!!!

So darn happy. Now updating the software which takes 3 blinking hours and sync all my 80 previously purchased apps and games.

The steps I took to get it are:

1] Called 123 (Maxis) and told them I am traveling overseas next week and would like to check on the availability of the iPhone.
2] CS on the line said he can't give me the phone no. to Gardens but instead he will contact them and ask on my behalf.
3] 3hrs later he called back to inform me that Gardens are now processing pre-booked orders up till 8th Aug but adviced me to walk in to confirm and tell them about my situation (traveling overseas)
4] Walked in to Gardens.. took the waiting number and when my turn arrived, I passed the CS my receipt (obtained from booking day after paying deposit).
5] She checked on their system and walked to the store room without saying a word.
6] She then walked out with some documents and the most beautiful black box which says iPhone 3GS on the side!

Hope this helped some of you in your quest to obtain your precious iPhone earlier.

PS. Make sure after getting your iPhone... take the 'Mobile Data' ticket and let them configure your iPhone for you. They already have everything setup on their laptop and it took only 10mins.

Cheers!

@vectorian,
what do u mean by 'Mobile Data' ticket?
*
When you go to Maxis Gardens (not sure about other branches), you need to take tickets to wait your turn. So 'Mobile Data' is one of the services they provide which you need to take a number / ticket for.

Hope that helps.

When did u book your iphone? I did my booking and paid deposit on 15 august and i went to gardens maxis center yesterday (29 August), i did mention to them that i wil be going overseas on the 7th but they said that i still have to wait for a month..no way they can help to accelerate. I ask them whether i can come n collect by the 6 sept but they said as long as u dont receive any sms or call from us, pls dont come. Damn frustrating. Anyway i will still give a try next saturday b4 i take off on sunday.

Same day as you mate... I believe it was a Saturday I think.

I'd advice calling 123. Inform them of your travel plans and ask for their help to see if you can pick up your iPhone earlier.

Cheers!

PS. posting via my new iPhone.. so darn cool!

When u were at maxis to collect the phone, did they ask you about receiving any sms from them to collect? Did you mention about your travel plan? or they just look at your receipt and process it immediately without asking any questions? Im trying to call 123..now to try my luck...
*
This one: they just look at your receipt and process it immediately without asking any questions

The only explanation I guess is that the CS (from 123 Maxis) noted down in the system that I am traveling. Either that or the staff at Gardens yesterday were just too obliging tongue.gif

Hi all,

Just wanted to share that when I picked up my iPhone last Sat at Gardens MV, they told me that using Maybank & HSBC c.card will not get surcharge for the 0% interest free instalment plan. So pls ensure you are not duped into paying any kind of surcharges which actually isn't allowed by Bank Negara anyways.

For those who pmed me, yes I got my iPhone in exactly 14days of booking and I've shared how I did it in an earlier post but it doesn't seem to work anymore.

My strong advice to those thinking of buying one to get it directly from Maxis for a speedier delivery and ease of setup process. Once again make sure you get the Maxis centre to configure your iPhone when you go pick it up.

Last but not least, if you are just a casual user, buy the 16gb is enough cause I've only managed to use 5gb so far with 82apps, 352 mp3s, 8 music vids, 5 full lengh movies and about 120 photos.

Cheers!

PS. Damn it was hard typing all this on my iPhone... LOL!

Yea it is very possible since stocks have been arriving by the busloads according to a friend working in Maxis.

So for those who have booked late last month, time to go visit your Maxis center whenever you are free.

"Those who ordered during 12th Aug 09 - 18th Aug 09 for Iphone 3GS 16GB will have a delay for 2 week on the stock."

I think the shortage is only for the 16GB cos I got my 32GB 2 weeks ago and I booked during the dates mentioned above.

MAXIS NEWS
Two thousand students from the Cempaka Schools in Kuala Lumpur will be able to enjoy education on the go with iPhone 3GS from Maxis Communications Berhad ('Maxis'). In a partnership that was launched today by Fitri Abdullah, Vice President and Head of Enterprise and Carrier Business Division of Maxis Communications Berhad, and Dr. Iskandar Rizal Hamzah, Vice-Chairman of Cempaka Schools, close to 100 units of iPhone 3GS will be introduced to Cempaka Schools as part of their Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) programme. Cempaka Schools has created the VLE programme on platforms which are suitable for the internet and also optimised for the iPhone. In addition, the school will introduce a series of iPhone applications that will be used in its everyday curriculum.

Fitri Abdullah said, "Since we launched the revolutionary iPhone 3GS in Malaysia on 31 July 2009, the response has been overwhelming. iPhone 3GS's popularity is a worldwide phenomena. We are extremely pleased today to be announcing a partnership with Cempaka Schools which will enable their students to enjoy education on the go with the iPhone 3GS from Maxis. iPhone 3GS is a powerful tool for work and play. It will be exciting to see it being deployed as a tool for enhanced learning and for access to education functions outside the classroom. We are pleased to introduce special promotions for students, parents and staff who wish to purchase iPhone 3GS from Maxis."

No wonder there is a shortage... 2,000 blinking iPhone 3Gs which I presume are 16gb version.

/run to enrol in Cempaka school

QUOTE(blacktrix @ Sep 17 2009, 09:34 AM)
Probably Cempaka school students will have to submit their offer letter (which they haven't gotten yet in the first place.... probably) to a Maxis rep at the school. Then they have to wait in a long line, because other students also doing the same thing. Once they get to the rep, they have to fill up another form of their details, and then ask them to queue up again to submit to ANOTHER Maxis Rep. Then once they get to that rep, they will give them a number and ask them to return to the counter in another 30 days time before they can receive their phones.
Once the 30 days come by, they find out that their phones still hasn't come in yet. When asked why? The rep just answers "I'm just a rep here. I got no control over things. You should call Maxis and ask them."

So the student calls up Maxis, put on hold, and then asks to enter their booking number. The student then gives the number, only to find out that their booking number is not a regular booking number, and therefor, can't be checked over the phone. They will have to visit their Maxis Rep in cempaka for more details.

The student then goes back to Cempaka, and tells the rep their problem, and they said, come back in a weeks time, that's when our stock is about to arrive.
So they go back in a weeks time, only to find out that the color they want (regardless of Black or White) is out of stock and will have to wait. The students then asks if they can just take whatever color is available, and the Maxis Rep says they can't, because it's booked under that color. The student asks if they can collect it at a Maxis store, and they said can't, because it's a special promotion and only authorize Maxis Reps at cempaka can distribute the iPhones.

So they wait, and wait, and then they get a call from the Maxis rep that they can collect their phones, and when they arrive there to collect, they have to wait another hour or so because all the other students also want to collect their phones. When they finally receive the phone in their hands to download class assignments and whatnot, they realize that they haven't been given a data plan, thus have to pay the full amount, which given the size of assignments these days, could cost as much as the phones themselves.

At the end of the day, they STILL have to pay and their semester almost over
Are you REAALLLLLYYYYYYY sure Cempaka students have it made??????
*
Dude... they ALREADY got their iPhones 3GS a few days ago!

Hmm...can I ask you guys most of you take one year or two year contract? I'm still deciding between one or two years contract..

I took the 24 mths contract cause it makes no difference to me since I've already been a Maxis user for more than a decade! I did ask them if they had a 48 mths contract hoping to get the iPhone much much cheaper tongue.gif
