QUOTE(Shock @ Oct 7 2010, 07:01 PM) For your extreme usage as you wrote, 15 hours for me to think is quite standard. Anyway, when you turn on 3G, you are using 3G radio signal, which is totally different than normal GSM. Celular Data is only to control the internet. So conclusion, when 3G is on, you are using more power than GSM although is just for call and SMS, which appox half of the time in GSM radio signal Interesting feedback, thanks. So more power used but just for calls and sms? You mean the phone uses more watt/dbm for cellular transmission? I always thought that 3G switch is just the switch for enabling 3G standard for mobile broadband, therefore if you leave the switch on but leave cellular data off, it will automatically disable the mobile broadband radio. I'll look around and see what I find. But for real world test, has anyone tried leaving 3G on but cellular data off and see what happens to the battery?

Shall repost some of tips for battery-saving on the iPhone (based on my previous experience with iPhone 3G and now the 4):
1. Turn off 3G if you don't need it 2. Turn Location Services off if not required 3. Screen brightness at minimum (as long as your eyes are comfortable with it) 4. Push notifications off 5. If you have any email accounts, set fetch to Manual 6. Close any apps running in the background

LOL. my record is 4 days with everything off and just normal 1 hour call person + some SMS.
For me, i do not turn on things i dun need to use. i will only turn it on when i need to use..
@slickz, HSPDA and GSM is 2 total different tech, of course it uses more watt/power to transmit and receive. i wondering how much power last for CDMA now lol if we ever getting 4G

Well this is with these settings 3G off location service - ON ( this will not drain your battery if you don't use the apps ) notification - ON ( its just a beep to remind you it doesn't constant drain batt too) Mail - Fetch - Manual Facebook Push - OFF ( but manual checking > 20 times for updates and viewing alerts ) MSN - not sign in been surfing and chcking for mail ( 3 accounts ) rather frequently >10 times some gaming. completed all levels of angry bird lite. light surfing . calls .. ~ talk time ~ 1 hour or so. I do not play games and apps all night long..I only play them at night before going to bed I guess your battery usage is normal too since you play game and apps all night long and it lasts for 2 days... You enabled your 3G all the time and it lasted for 5 days? Added on October 10, 2010, 6:46 pmQUOTE(bizness @ Oct 9 2010, 12:37 PM) This is my usage :-

Thanks Yours is pretty normal since your usage is low. Did you enable 3G all the time or you enabled it only when you wanted to use it? This post has been edited by fuiyo: Oct 10 2010, 06:46 PM
