I have no problem with the  battery. I can last 5 days b4 it totaly drain off.

Why not You try 2 suggestion i give?

1) Backup all the contact etc manually (can find the method in pinned topic) and restore the phone. afterthat START the iphone as new phone (DO NOT restore from backup). and close all the push mail notice.

2)check the push mail notice and set all to manually and OFF

5 days is impossible on my 3G S.

Seriously,
your phone won't even last for a day, if you

- make calls
- SMS
- email
- iPod (1 hour)
- Safari (1 hour)
- read news (NY times, AP mobile, ESPN, Eurosport)
- play games for a while (Bejeweled, Pinball, TTR 2)
- Facebook, Twitter, FML
- Dictionary

I end up with my phone having around 20% every evening.
The same thing happens on my friend's 3GS as well.

He probably doesn't use his phone as heavily as us which explains the long standby time versus usage time.

Anyhow, I wonder why would ppl always wait till their battery is flat before charging? It wastes a cycle of the battery life.
*
Because I don't bring my charger out? Hmm...

Anyway I heard that there's a charger-like mini-device for iPhone/iTouch
where you can use its battery when you connect it to your iPhone

it's never a waste of cycle. if say u r a heavy user, and u have used ur phone till its battery shows 50% and u charge it till 100% and again u use it till it shows 50% and u charge another time to 100%. this is equivalent to using the phone till it goes flat and charge it till 100%. both are considered as one cycle. i believe it's explained in the iphone online manual.
*
Exactly.
Assume a person uses merely 30% of his iPhone's battery everyday.
He will need to charge like thrice to complete one cycle.
That is, 3 days?

Also, the manual stated that the battery life will fall to 80% after 300/500 charge cycles (If not mistaken)
So if a person consistently uses 1 charge cycle everyday,
His battery will start deteriorating after hmm, a year or two?

Its time for an iPhone 3G SS then. LOL.

i just upgrade my iphone on FW 3.0
realise that the battery drain quickly...
so..
can i downgrade to FW 2.2.1?
*
It makes no difference on old iPhones
the reason why new 3G S are facing short battery lives are because they are new
After using for some time it will be better.

The same thing happens to my iPhone 2G.
And now its standby time is like damn long!

That can't be right. We don't hear many stories of new iPods having problems like that do we? Nor the new Macs. It can't be just because they are new.
*
It would be perfect on an iPod or a Mac.
iPhone's overhead is higher as it has the phone functionality.
I can't confirm about this.
But this is what I learnt from my previous iPhone.

When you first get your phone,
Try charging it full and using the battery completely and full charge it again
I saw this in other forums where they call this battery recalibrating
But we shouldn't repeat this method too often,
Just once in a few months.

so just leave it?
if downgrade my iphone 2G to 2.2.1 from 3.0 would it be any problem?
*
Leave it since 2.2.1 may not have some features that you need?

2.2.1 and 3.0 doesnt differ a lot in the battery consumption,
Unless push notification is enabled.

just got my iphone.... used for around 8 hours and have standy by time of 1 day 18 hours... then need to recharge le....

is that OK or not huh?
*
No one but yourself know how much have you used in this 8 hours.
If you just make a few calls and SMSs without using any other apps
And you need to recharge after 8 hours then its not okay.

so some sets hot some not hot..

maybe its the way we hold it i guess, some hands are warmer than others.
i might be wrong also..i use wifi browse not as hot as using 3G.

one thing i noticed is the new OS the battery drains faster.

My battery is much better on my iPhone 4 compared to 3GS.
As Apple had claimed, 40% better biggrin.gif

This is my usage :-

[attachmentid=1824883]

Notifications set to > ON
Location service set to > ON
Cellular Data and 3G set to > ON
Played games,Surfed the internet(using 3G),Checked email,SMS and Calls..

Is this normal or abnormal?..

Thanks smile.gif
*
Yours is pretty normal since your usage is low. Did you enable 3G all the time or you enabled it only when you wanted to use it?

Yours is quite good and reasonable.
I still doubt that the person above who enabled 3G all the time could get his phone to last for 5 days blink.gif

Those don't affect much. I have friends who did the test before. They failed to reach 5 days. Maybe he lowered the brightness like A LOT? Hmm...

With all the WiFi, notifications, locations services and Bluetooth disabled, and the brightness set to half (default), my 3G drained 6% of battery after using Facebook and Twitter for almost half an hour, and I haven't use safari nor play music yet. I wonder how users can use less than 15-20% per day by enabling 3G. Sigh, one can't really play games for long without charging it.
