i am an iphone 3GS user for 2 weeks...having iphone problem.. serching for help.. here is my iphone problem:

- the phone is hot all the time when charging..
- in the same time, the iphone battery always running low( battery are consumed fast even in power safe mode)
for example the battery is consumed 80% for just 3 hours time(with power safe mode, not playing games or music)

here is the question:
-is that normal for every iphone?
-is if not: will it be the battery problem or setting problem?

could anyone answer this ? thanks n appreciate...

but of course i will definately go back to Maxis to complaint about this..since is stil under warranty..

1. it's normal for all electronic devices to be slightly warm when it's being charged. it's abnormal when it's hot enough to burn you.
2. make sure you don't leave any background processes running.

do read up this thread for various solutions posted by forummers on how to lengthen your battery life.

iPhone Generation : 2G 8GB JB
Current Firmware : 3.0
iTunes Version : 8.2
PC/MAC : PC
Jailbreaking software : redsn0w
Problem Encountered : iPhone turns off without me knowing. To be exact every couple of hours. Then i would have to turn it back on. Sometimes, it wont turn on att all and the only way to make it alive again is to charge it. Never happened before this. It happened for 2 days already. cry.gif
Steps Taken So Far : Soft reset, deleted unnessary apps, do memory cleaning, sync with pc.

Hello again guys.

Any idea why does the phone suddenly drains up the battery so fast? As in the battery will drop from 100% to totally flat overnight. Its really bothering me.. Started happening 2 days ago. sweat.gif

All unnecessary stuff, wifi, push is turned off.

Hmm, yea, I used to face those kinda problem as well but somehow I fixed the problem already. Sorry I can't really tell how I fixed it cause I did everything mentioned in this thread and I don't really know which solution fixed my problem, so do read up this thread from page 1 and if possible, try all the solution mentioned. As for sending your iPhone back to Maxis centre, I don't think that would do much of a help. My prediction is that Maxis staff will just ask you to do all those standard battery conversing methods which you already know or just ask you to wait for updates from Apple regarding this issue. In my opinion, try fixing this yourself by following all the steps or methods mentioned in this thread for a quicker solution and it's definitely less frustrating than waiting for responds from Maxis or Apple. Good luck thumbup.gif

Well looks like I have found a balanced approach to my battery problem:

1) Always charge for more than 4 hrs.
2) I turn off all unnecessary items

Voila. standby power is still at 45% after 2 days since last charge. Usage is 2 hrs 45 minutes.

My battery has this problem as when I charged it fully to 100% and leave it to sleep during night time, when it's morning.. the battery falls to 76% ... which is super duper fast.... On average I would have to charge eveeryyday, I switch off every neccessary network and all but this is still it. Are there any other ways to help keep the battery life?? Please advice notworthy.gif thanks =)

Oh and btw how many hours should I charge the first time I use the iphone ?????? Like an avergae phone is 8 hrs? for iphone 3gs ?

Well, this is what my GF faced when she got her 3GS.
The phone battery lifespan was seriously pathetic.
It drops like 10% every hour on standby. sweat.gif sweat.gif
We searched around the net for a solution and we did this.
Restore the iPhone as new.
Disable Notification.
Now the battery life seems to be normal.
The firmware seems to be the problematic.
Camera malfunction is being reported too on apple forum.

i just found out something.. while i was using EDGE (since i turned off 3g to save battery), when my phone is near my pc speakers, i can hear the beeping sound like when u make a call and go near a speaker.. i was wondering if its because a sms or mms is coming, but i waited and nothing came. i checked all apps and everything was fine. so i tried turning off my EDGE, then no more sound. i tried turning on 3g instead, also no sound.. when i switch back to EDGE then the sound came back.

so my guess is 3g uses more power than EDGE when we're on call but when its on standby, EDGE tends to send signals out continously?

correct me if im wrong, i haven't seen any cases like this before nor any statement about this before but what explains the beeping sound then? hmm hmm.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif
