Does anyone know how I can disable the edge function totally? All my networks have been switched off I still find the E alphabet on the network bar.

QUOTE(Jon Cache @ Aug 30 2009, 11:30 PM) He probably doesn't use his phone as heavily as us which explains the long standby time versus usage time. it's never a waste of cycle. if say u r a heavy user, and u have used ur phone till its battery shows 50% and u charge it till 100% and again u use it till it shows 50% and u charge another time to 100%. this is equivalent to using the phone till it goes flat and charge it till 100%. both are considered as one cycle. i believe it's explained in the iphone online manual.Anyhow, I wonder why would ppl always wait till their battery is flat before charging? It wastes a cycle of the battery life. |

QUOTE(Blast_Cyrus @ Oct 2 2009, 12:39 PM) okay. I just got my 3Gs last week so still a noob. Forgive me if I asked stupid question. 3g is one of the main culprits in battery draining. Based on your story i'm quite sure it's 3g tat caused 20% battery decline, and it could have been worse. i'm not sure y but if you nvr use the internet, it's wise u turn it off and use Edge instead. usually with everything off and edge on, my battery will only decrease 3-5% overnite.2 days back, I charged my Iphone to 100% and go to sleep at 1.30am, woke up at 8.20 realize battery drop 20%, left 80%. The next day I charge it to 100% at night, wake up found out left 96%, sweet huh. The next day I try again, 100% full charged overnight, next day wake up left 80%. My question here is, how does set up the phone as new phone affect the battery usage? Done some reading online, some claims JB will drain battery faster especially Winterboard. I am sure that I didnt turn on wifi, bluetooth, push notification, and other stuff cz I double check using SBsettings. The only thing I enable is 3G cz i dun like to use back GSM while I am using Iphone "3G" just my own preference for this. Anybody can advice? Thanks ohya, it's advisable to also completely drain your battery once a month. this comes from the iphone manual i read some where in this forum before. QUOTE(december88 @ Oct 4 2009, 03:33 PM) Are you sure? It's also stated in Iphone manual tat 3g is one of the causes, obviously i din make it up.i have a 3GS for a week now, firmware 3.1 non-JB and all my setting are off (push, fetch, wifi,bt and etc), and my Aussie Telco only have 3G reception but will roam to non-3G telco automatically if no 3G reception. 100% charged at night, 8 hours standby 98% left in the morning. You might want to put it in airplane mode when you sleep to isolate and investigate your problem. Btw GPS really drain the battery, i went for a 20 mins walk to try out the GPS function to my supermarket, 8% gone. Really hardcore battery eater GPS+3G+Screen On+Compass orientation. i experienced b4 switching on my 3g overnite (or rather forgot to switch it off) with everything else off and still it drained about 15% off. i notice this problem is particularly obvious (after reading some other posts) when the phone is used in certain countries like msia. dun ask me y. not sure it's hardware or software problem. this is still a very vague area to discuss actually. |
