I don't like the look of superworms. They look abnormally large.
I'm sticking with normal-sized mealworms. xD |

You can feed them Dubia roaches since hedgie owners from different parts of the world said hedgies love 'em. Personally, I wouldn't buy nor feed roaches of any species to my hedgehogs. xD I hate roaches & my mum will kill me if I bring roaches home. SHe's already complaining about my mealworm farm. LOL. Shipping one from overseas costs more than that.OMG SO EXPENSIVEEEEE WHEEEEL You could be like Shukri & make the wheel if you're hardworking enough? QUOTE(olivur @ Aug 1 2011, 12:22 AM) @mav_850 - you could try rearing them, but the level of difficulty made me quit halfway when i tried it (i can't stand the dried puke stench they give off) LOL, my mealworm farm hasn't been very productive at all.if you're interested, this site has some good info @telileti - hows chubs doing ._o? I got my first beetle, which died about 1 week after it evolved. Then I got 3 larvae together with the new set of worms that I bought from a different pet shop (the worms were bigger). Then 3 larvae died last week. I'm still keeping them for some reason. xD So far, ZERO beetles, ZERO larvae, lotsa fat mealworms. It's a chore to replace their bedding every week & replace the moisture source I put in every 2-3 days. If I don't take the apple/choy sum out after a few days, moulds start growing on the oats (thus I have to throw it all out). I sift the worms every weekend. Takes me...more than 30 minutes? I bought a tiny, fine sift to sift all the frass (worm poop) out. Then I spend the next 29 minutes picking the live worms out of the sift, into the container again, ONE BY ONE. Chubster's on her 35th day today. She ate less than usual today. We'll see by tomorrow if there's any babies. If not, I'll wait till mid-August before she goes on a diet. I picked her up 2 days ago. She is ROUND & DARN HEAVY AT THAT. Her cheeks pretty much puffed out larger than ever with all that fat that's in her. |

QUOTE(ix3Rukia @ Aug 1 2011, 05:51 PM) I am using waveboard (already broken) wheel (I have one left I fix the wheel to cake container using cable tie. I made holes on the wheel, cake container and PVC pipe using Iron solderer (only RM2 at RM2 shop). I made stand using PVC pipe (3 Feet), 1 T PVC pipe joint, 2 L and joint 3 caps. Dont glue the pipe because it is tight enough. For cutting the PVC pipe. I suggest when u bought the pipe u ask them to cut it (2 pieces of 1 feet, 2 pieces of 1/5 feet) this can reduce your work.
