picked her up earlier and within half an hour of taking her down she started sniffing my fingers and frothed on her quills. she anointed my brother as well with an added bonus of biting a chunk off his finger though X:

telileti do you by any chance know the brand of the playpen that you're using?
i read around and picked up that some playpens are either too low (11" - which would be lawn shrubs for hogs to hurdle through) or too light ._x some at hedgehog central recommended this model - http://www.petguys.com/-027773005030.html but. googling. a. generic. brand. such. as. midwest. is. so. e.x.a.s.p.e.r.a.t.i.n.g >_> |

sweet mother of towering monstrosity o___o
ive been stalking lil all day from behind my desk so that she wont feel stressed by my presence and at exactly 10:45pm she finally tried running on the wheel D; let's just hope she likes to actually run on it instead of the previous things she did with it which including biting the legs, rubbing her back against it, pushing it to the other end and so forth ._o edit* after an hour plus of running she finally stopped for a drink, to which i jumped in to wipe the poop off her wheel. she took a lick at my wrist, scrambled to her blankie and pretended to be asleep. ..yeah im sure it wasnt her that encrusted the wheel >_> lol » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by olivur: Jul 15 2011, 01:04 AM |

QUOTE(TeliLeti @ Jul 15 2011, 08:15 AM) Aww, that's so cute. Is she potty-trained now? xD that would be a -ve. i placed her poop in the poop bowl for her to get the idea, but it was kinda redundant since she was on her wheel not long after.. and poop was everywhere ._x!Huffy never runs when I'm around. I caught him on the wheel once and he just FROZE. Mum found poo and pee all over the kitchen again. I'm thinking Huffy actually scaled the wall to get out. Sounds quite impossible though. It's a great mystery. btw she ate an accumulated amount of a tablespoon (+/-) within the duration of the night. should i be concerned? i'm just feeding her rc36 kibbles atm. |

shukri, where do you get your coroplast from. a hardware shop or ..? i was thinking of using acrylic but those sheets do not come cheap.
i usually get 11" x 11" x 5pcs to make display cases which would cost around rm50 in materials (chloroform included) a 2' x 2' box.. and i'd have to use thicker sheets too. |

lil would not eat her mealworms ;o
tried snapping it in half as others suggested as well. most she did to a "full" one was to take a bite, spat the worm away, licked her nose and moved on. lol ._o This post has been edited by olivur: Jul 18 2011, 07:10 AM |

QUOTE(mav_850 @ Jul 23 2011, 07:15 PM) olivur.. waaaa... very2 big cage.. she does her business in the shavings, but.. she occasionally plays in said shavings too. so yeah, lol ><is your hedgies litter trained? my hedgies poopee everywhere... maybe because all the floor using habuk kayu.. have not seen her poo or pee on the plastic or blanky in her hide box though. (apart from the occasional stains on her blanky - from her nails, when she scratches around her blanky) QUOTE(shukri77 @ Jul 23 2011, 08:34 PM) tq olivur, looking at your pic, i also have made a toilet for Cika's wheel, its size is about the size 2 pieces of toilet tissues. initially wanted to use cat litter for lili but im afraid that she wouldnt "like" it. im a little iffy about shavings too since some bits are really really small. This post has been edited by olivur: Jul 23 2011, 08:37 PM |

do you cuddle with her often? wear a top overnight and let your hog use it as her blanky so she's used to your scent :d
if that doesnt work.. i recommend you letting hibari hook up with huffy. lol :X |

QUOTE(shukri77 @ Jul 24 2011, 01:26 AM) when Cika started to escape from my box, i will upgrade like yours... wah acrylic... how much is the cost? where to buy? how to cut? there are 4 "brands" of acrylic afaik. plexiglass, perspex, lucite and acrylite. the most common is perspex over here. perspex is cheaper but once it scratches it's harder to flame polish it back (basically use a blow torch and "polish" away the scratches)plexiglass is available in malaysia but they're mainly used to construct lab instruments for either students in chem labs or precision equipments in the oil & gas sectors. my cousin is under that sector so she hooked me up. but i do know the prices, since before asking for her help i asked around on the prices. an 11" x 11" x 2mm (thickness) piece of acrylic would cost roughly 10myr. i used 15pcs to make the circumference. 15 x 10 = 150myr. (+/- 10 myr for two rolls of binding tape) it depends on shops of course, some would charge you as much as 20myr for an 11" x 11" sheet. and it's always cheaper to just buy a bigger sheet. (e.g 2m x 1m) cheat sheet - 1. you could get it from advertisement shops or plate number shops and some hardware shops. 2. to cut acrylic, you'd need an acrylic cutter that looks like this - » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « 3. to bond acrylic together you'd need chloroform. it basically melts and bonds the sheets together. but mind you it is a controlled substance. it's basically what people douche on handkerchiefs and place over people's face to render their targets unconscious. 4. but for a basic playpen, binding tape is cheaper and easier to work with. (that and the binding tape which comes into contact with the floor acts as a stopper so that the "walls" wont be easily pushed. 5. if you find a cheap source for acrylic, habaq mai na :x This post has been edited by olivur: Jul 24 2011, 10:20 AM |
