Cleaning her cage could stress her out & she might eat the babies. On the other hand, maybe she's not pregnant at all. There have been cases of false pregnancies that I've read online. We'll see. I've found an ingenious way to feed my hedgies fruits.
Huffy doesn't like fruits (but he did eat a bit of apple two days ago!). Chubster eats a bit of mashed banana and annointed on strawberry. A 5-Step Guide to Feeding Fruits to Your Hedgehog(s) 1.) Gather several mealworms in a container. 2.) Mash up a cube of your fruit (banana works like a charm!) 3.) Mix the mashed fruit and mealworms together. 4.) Sprinkle some calcium powder into the mix. 5.) Serve immediately. |

Aha, now that we're talking about human illnesses, I want to bring up something to discuss about.
Can human illnesses such as cough or flu affect hedgehogs? I had both last month and avoided going near my hedgehogs during that period. |

i mean, i guess you could still touch them if you soap up your hand prior and wear a flu mask? but i just dont wanna risk it.

Hedgehogs CAN get flu from human. Hedgehogs also CAN get flu from other pets or fellow hedgehogs.
If human have flu, try staying away as much as possible. If pets or other hedgehog have flu, wash your hands before handling other animals. If hedgie don't like mealies, you can try chopping off the mealies into two and feed it. Also, hedgehog does not have large intestine. So, try feeding them less vegetables and fruits. |

Ew, mealworm guts. I feed mealworms to my hedgies on a spoon. They now recognise it as the 'treats' spoon.
Naw, I feed them fruits and cooked chicken about once a week. Thanks for the tip! |
