i second u..hedgie is the very cutest pet in the world..
i dont like things that is very manja and all, then got attached too much..bcoz i always travel

my friend got cat, very manja..then when he left to his sister to take care, the cat dies..does not want to eat and all

Added on August 14, 2009, 9:15 pm

haha so u better prepare to get bitten, bcoz after lick lick lick then must try bite la..like when u eat KFC  biggrin.gif

if yours like to bite, try to talk to him about it..like mine, it works..
and other tips on biting, if he just lick only but did not bite, u give him treats
if he bite, dont give..

over a certain period of time he will discover that biting is not a good thing to do
*
How does talking affect to hedgie? mine bite and won't let go =[

my hedgie climbed out of his cage when i was asleep. He overturned the container of mealies and ate all of them (alive and dead). Will dead mealies affect them? ie. bring sickness or parasites.

some websites says hedgies eat them but some says dead mealies contain parasites. what should i do?

2 days later I heard my hedge's stomach rumbling. Is it Friskies or the mealies??

Where can i get royal canin in ipoh?

Also, do we need to feed oat to the meal worm everyday or just to gutload them? What is their food?

Also, I browsed though the internet and find out that mealworm bettle (darkling beetle) will give out some smell when they felt threaten. They also bite. So, is it safe for hedgehog to eat darkling beetle?

My hedgie's poop has return to it's usual state. Is it ok for you to send me a picture of a healthy poop just to compare with mine?

There is two black coloured hoglets here. 1 is salt and pepper and the other is (my assumption) silver (recesive of S&P)

As a hoglets the silver one will have lighter color compare to S&P right? one of the forum memeber said that it's a cinnamon. How can we distinguish them?? I've read the hedgehogclub website but is still confuse... blink.gif

Here are some photos... biggrin.gif enjoy!!!

first two picts are cinnamons, definitely. not sure how you mean by silver, there's no such colour in hedgehog breeding.

According to the link above, there is such color (silver). The quills are greyish but not brownish. Are you sure it's a cinnamon?

I am a new hedgies owner. I have two of them. I just wanna ask about their bedding.

The pet shop owner said just use Chipsi Plus Green Apple for the bedding, so i bought it. It's made from improved formulation with special wood shaving/ fibre mixture. They also wrote on the pack 'soft wood shavings from untreated timber'. Hygienic, highly absorbent, dust-free and dried, binds unpleasant odours. 100% natural product.

So i just wanna know if it's safe to use this as bedding. I don't want my hedgies to get sick or anything. So please help me.

Thanks.  smile.gif

You can use Chipsi but not green apple as the scent is harmful to them. You can try Chipsi Classic or those which is unscented...

I heard some of the owner said that "black wood" causes cat's poop smelly but not sure for hedgehog. I think heggie will like it as long as the cat food is CHICKEN flavor compare to FISH flavor. I had prove it when I feed my heggie with IAMS, they eat like pig, but when I switch to Whiskas tuna flavor, they only consume few kibble at one time.
*
Whiskas is not good for hedgehogs or pets in general. It's a good thing if you know how to read the label

Whiskas Kitten Food
Chicken by-product meal, Corn Gluten meal, Ground Yellow Corn, Rice, animal fat (Preserved with bha/bht), Soybean meal, Natural Chicken flavour, Wheat Flour, Vitamins (Choline Chloride, dl-alpha Tocopherol Acetate [Source of Vitamin e], l-Ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate [Source of Vitamin c], Vitamin a Acetate, Niacin, Vitamin b12 Supplement, Riboflavin supplement [Vitamin b2], Thiamine Mononitrate [Vitamin b1], d-calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin d3 supplement, Biotin, Folic acid, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride [Vitamin b6]), Caramel colour, Potassium Chloride, Taurine, Salt, Calcium Carbonate, Whitefish meal, Trace minerals (Zinc Sulphate, Copper Sulphate, Manganese Sulphate, Potassium Iodide), dl-Methionine, Marigold meal, Ethoxyquin (a preservative).

By product meal is not good. it's considered second class food. Gluten will harm the liver of hedgehogs (even humans who are gluten intolerant). Colouring is bad too.

I used revolution (selamectin) to treat mites on my hedgie.
I put 1 drop of selamectin on the neck of the hedgie. It works.
*
Isn't Revolution used to prevent and Ivermectin used to cure mites??
