Yes, they scratch when they're quilling. It's like teething in humans. It's uncomfortable. Just check fallen quills at all times for a ball at the end. If the ball is present, stop worrying. okay. thanks. oh i wanted to ask if feeding my 2 and a half month old hedgie RC 34 was alright? so hard to find RC 36.  he loves mealies though. always sniffing the container i put them in & eats them up super quickly as soon as i take one out.

young hoglets has little quills, so expect that bald spot. after the quilling process, you can see that the quills grow alot & almost covering their skins.
if you feel itchy after handling the hedgehog, just wash your hands to discard the itchiness.

i read that many breeders recommend bathing your hedgie in warm water twice a week to help soothe the discomfort. adding a non-flavored, non toxic oil such as olive oil to the last rinse may also prove helpful to soften the skin. http://www.hedgehog-care-expert.com/quilling.html

my hedgie did 'annoint' once. she go lick my hand then lick her quills xD. but only one time >_<
My hedgie loves my brothers smelly feet ._. she always licks it!!
