have u checked thru wat's causing the adapter to die??? a power surge could be culprit...

been using my laptop to fold 24/7 (aka 100% CPU load and 100% GPU load), no problem at all...

that is, there's a sudden increase of current in the power grid (ie the power socket)...

in theory, when such things happen, the fuse in the plug should be burnt so that the electrical device is cut off from power immediately... however, in some cases, the surge can be so high, that it affects the device as well...

experienced first hand before... lightning at my home area before, probably struck the building, burnt 2 TV in my home...

there's no way u can avoid power surge... when it comes, it comes... however, u can protect urself by either purchasing a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) - the more expensive option, or a surge protector - the cheaper option...

QUOTE(Balanar @ Mar 4 2010, 07:18 PM)
Terrible service from the Asus Royal Club at Imbi Plaza. Bought an n51vf in August at the PCfair. Had a problem with it (motherboard according to the worker) and sent it for repair on the 10th of February. Was told I would get it back around 2 weeks later. I called them 2 weeks later, and they told me they would get it back to me that week itself, or early next week. Now its the 4th of March, and after furiously calling them again and complaining, they told me that it would be fixed in the middle of March now. What should I do? :S

Seriously, I heard similar complaints over n over again with all other brand like HP,Compaq,Apple,Dell,Acer etc rclxub.gif ...

it's just Luck i suppose sweat.gif

Any ideas on what I should do now? Just wait? sad.gif

I can't get a refund/swap my laptop for a brand new one can I?

Can they at least give me a spare laptop to use in the meantime until its fixed? In dire need of one for work now..

Dear all,

JUst wanna ask if Asus provide Warranty Card ? If they don't, how do i register for the warranty ? I just bought the A42Jr and the shop didn't provide any warranty card.

Btw, can I extend the 2 years international warranty to 3 years ? If yes, how much do i need to pay for it?

Thanks a lot !

Personal Review
---------------
This baby cost me a total just under RM9,000. it includes the laptop, Asus mouse and bag (which is damn nice!) and also a 3 day FedEx shipping from USA to my home in KL here. Bought it from a company in the states as most of the computer shops in KL either couldn't import it for me (maybe they were just too lazy yawn.gif ) or some of them have never even heard of it! Oh! but there was one shop in Low Yat.... the boss tried to con me and wanted me to pay RM12K for it!! shocking.gif !! right after he said that, i just walked out of the shop. sometimes i wonder why they think we buyers are just so dumb.... sweat.gif

anyway, back to the laptop. first of all, like i said earlier, the laptop is HUGE!!!! and heavy as well! which i love... im not a fan of those "paper-thin-ultra-light" laptops... makes me feel like i'll break it or when the wind blows, its gonna fly away as well! and because its huge, the keyboard is not a "on-diet-keyboard", its almost the same size as your normal desktop PC keyboard, so my fingers never ache like my old 15" laptop. plus, this also has a keypad built-in as well smile.gif

it has great graphics, im not gonna joke... i do ALOT of gaming and also alot of photoshop/3D graphics design...etc, and for each application, the laptop has NO problem handling it. i even tried playing Sims 3 on FULL graphics level and it was SMOOTH!!!! lowest FPS was abt 58 only!!! didnt try Crysis as im not a F.P.S gamer~

I guess maybe the only problem i have is that on very high settings, the GFX card reaches abt 70++ degrees, but not very often. Also, there were complains about the BIOS giving problems once the GPU went over a certain temperature, i didnt have that problem at all cuz my laptop came with the new BIOS, so it was all smooth sailing~ icon_rolleyes.gif

Right now, i use my laptop for work, play and watching blu-ray movies, which i then connect it to the plasma tv via HDMI cable and it is great, i tell you!

Although it was a very big burn into my pocket, this laptop really is a desktop replacement in my humble opinion notworthy.gif

Some pics for you, sorry quality so bad, took with my handphone cuz camera with sister whistling.gif
