does anyone know where i can buy the new ASUS G71Gx-A1? perhaps a shop or maybe even a contact number itself?

its quite difficult to find shops where they stock high end laptops here in KL it gets even more difficult when you try to buy any of them

are you sure it hasnt been released yet? cuz after checking various reputable online website selling the ASUS G71gx (like Xotic PC), they already have it in stock. and it is no longer pre-order unlike last week~

currently now hunting for a shop in KL which can import this in for me... would take over 2 weeks jz to clear payment if i were to buy from Xotic

well, depending on your price, i may consider getting it from you. cuz at the moment im sourcing two shops in KL and two USA companies to see who can give me the best price vs fastest shipping time.

im honestly not keen on buying from the US companies and it will takes 2 weeks to clear the bank wire transfer and shipping from there alone will cost almost RM 1k.

chances are i will 100% be getting this laptop, now just need to see who can deliver the fastest with the lowest or reasonable price.

if you think you can help me, i would gladly accept it

i received my new ASUS G71Gx-A1 today the UPS guy was so nice. even asked me abt the laptop

first of all, its HUGE!!!! 17" screen is bigger than i thought!

now if i only i could get my hands on a 64-bit W7....

This baby cost me a total just under RM9,000. it includes the laptop, Asus mouse and bag (which is damn nice!) and also a 3 day FedEx shipping from USA to my home in KL here. Bought it from a company in the states as most of the computer shops in KL either couldn't import it for me (maybe they were just too lazy ) or some of them have never even heard of it! Oh! but there was one shop in Low Yat.... the boss tried to con me and wanted me to pay RM12K for it!! !! right after he said that, i just walked out of the shop. sometimes i wonder why they think we buyers are just so dumb....

anyway, back to the laptop. first of all, like i said earlier, the laptop is HUGE!!!! and heavy as well! which i love... im not a fan of those "paper-thin-ultra-light" laptops... makes me feel like i'll break it or when the wind blows, its gonna fly away as well! and because its huge, the keyboard is not a "on-diet-keyboard", its almost the same size as your normal desktop PC keyboard, so my fingers never ache like my old 15" laptop. plus, this also has a keypad built-in as well

it has great graphics, im not gonna joke... i do ALOT of gaming and also alot of photoshop/3D graphics design...etc, and for each application, the laptop has NO problem handling it. i even tried playing Sims 3 on FULL graphics level and it was SMOOTH!!!! lowest FPS was abt 58 only!!! didnt try Crysis as im not a F.P.S gamer~

I guess maybe the only problem i have is that on very high settings, the GFX card reaches abt 70++ degrees, but not very often. Also, there were complains about the BIOS giving problems once the GPU went over a certain temperature, i didnt have that problem at all cuz my laptop came with the new BIOS, so it was all smooth sailing~

Right now, i use my laptop for work, play and watching blu-ray movies, which i then connect it to the plasma tv via HDMI cable and it is great, i tell you!

Although it was a very big burn into my pocket, this laptop really is a desktop replacement in my humble opinion
