why before 11th of september? O_O need it to plan another 911 incident ar lol. U80V with the C2D P8700's at RM3799 if i've not mistaken. Comes with Vista Home Premium, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, ATI HD4570 Mobility. Webcam and other misc are basics.

I'm not trying to demote asus here but if you're gonna get a laptop now at tat price range, i suggest the DELL Studio 15's that is on promotion. RM3399 with all the specs almost indentical to the U80V except the processor, which is a P8600. And the HD4570 sports GDDR3 compared to the DDR2 HD4570 available in the U80v. However DELL only gives 1yr of warranty while ASUS gives 2yrs. Finally, no freebies and laptop bag laugh.gif

Update:

Since I am now having lectures for 5hrs in 1 go every Monday, I have tried pushing the battery to the limit...

Using Power4Gear Hybrid, in Battery Saving Mode, LCD to least bright, and with WiFi switched on, I managed to squeeze out 3hrs of battery with approx. 20% left according to Vista

Basically, what Power4Gear Hybrid does is to disable Aero and limit the CPU to max 60% only... Together with ATi PowerPlay downclocking the GPU, this effectively reduced the power consumption of 2 of the components that suck the most power.

Thus i believe 3.5hrs on N81Vp should be possible... The key is to tweak the power option...

Make it fast if you want to get it. Selling like hotcake right now.

The bag nice or not is too subjective. If you don't want it, give it to me. Hehe !

The following user's experience applied to u80v C2D T6500 2.1GHZ TDP 35watts (Note: The higher spec cpu is C2D P8700 2.53GHZ TDP 25watts i.e. lower power consumption)

Under Battery Saving Mode in Asus Power4Gear interface with LCD brightness set to minimum and the rest all in default settings in the Battery Saving mode i.e.

- Power Saving Desktop eg. wallpaper auto set to a White background with Asus logo in the middle of it
- Windows Aero theme disabled n reset to Vista Basic theme
- Windows Sidebar auto disabled
- Windows Taskbar auto set to Autohide mode
- WIFI adapter, PCI Express set to Maximum power saving mode
- Minimum CPU stage set to 5 %
- Maximum CPU stage set to 60 %
- ATI PowerPlay set to Maximum power saving

I have tried websurfing thru wifi connection without the keyboard backlit, the battery lasted for approximately 5 hours 30min with room temperature of 27 degree celcius. During the period, i was only running Firefox 3.52 (with NoScript Firefox Addon installed) with no other applications.

Hope the info above is of a little bit more help to those who's considering the u80v. biggrin.gif

well it depends if you're using 2.1ghz or 2.53ghz.
the two diff version gives you diff power consumption.

not 911 incident lar.. i'm leaving msia on that day for study.
if i buy studio 15, i would need to wait for the delivery, which has unknown time from 1 week to 1 month.
so i would rather get one that's ald built and can get it on the spot as soon as i've made the purchase.

how long the u80v battery will last? it's 6 cell right? can it be upgraded to 9-cell or even 12-cell one? drool.gif

oya btw, what's the difference between a ddr3 gpu and ddr2 gpu of the same model and same memory? rclxub.gif

Noob here.. thanks a lot =)

DDR3 is faster and thus, will give u better graphic performance...

take note GDDR3 and DDR3 are different... GDDR3 is even faster...

anyway, if u did read a few posts back, it's approx. 5hrs on U80V with Power4Gear...

damn i've visited lowyat 3times in 4days =_= ok lemme provide some info for you. eh i'm leaving msia on the 11th of september too lol. where you goin XD

ok back to the topic. from wat i've seen, cheapest studio 15 (with the P8600, 320GB [all models i see at lowyat retails only have it with 320GB, not 500GB as stated in the DELL website], 4GB ram, the HD4570 and the rest of the basic stuffs) is from AllIT, RM3099, and they give you a Dell Laptop carrybag, not bagpack, but no desginer cover, meaning the normal black/blue/green etc.

i know i've strayed alot from what should be discussed in a Asus thread but anyone knows if Dell's still selling the XPS M1530?
