I've set my mind, I'm taking either N81VG or F81SE.
If N81VG still not out middle next month, then i'm taking F81SE. Perfect, any specific date? |

QUOTE(bukz @ Aug 7 2009, 05:39 PM) I was facing the same problem as yours, but at the end I choose to purchase a pricier U80V mainly due to its weight (2.15kg), longer battery life (up to 6 hours), backlit keyboard (including touchpad)and cool design (some people don't like glossy finish). All other aspects are the same. It all depends on your needs. For me, my main criteria is mobility, so I dont mind to sacrifice another RM400. Based on my needs, I would formulate it like this: Well from my research that I did, I think the F81se gonna be phase out very soon because:F81SE+ RM400 = U80V RM400 = lighter + long battery life +backlit keyboard +cool design So, it depends whether your needs require you to have these extra features or not. a) 2-3weeks before PCFAIR, they came out with F81se P8700 "SPECIAL EDITION" at a price of RM3599. b) after PCFAIR they sell it at RM3399. I'd go for U80VG because they have alot and alot of good review on the net. such as from cnet.com, and etc. try and google it btw, any shop selling U80VG already? http://www.cnet.com.au/asus-u80v-339297553.htm http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=402411 This post has been edited by ameer88: Aug 7 2009, 08:23 PM |

QUOTE(dragonkiat @ Aug 12 2009, 01:55 PM) Hi friend , mind to share u get any further discount for your U80V ? RSP is RM3799 . Where did u buy it ? Thanks . I ask my office computer technican to buy for me.I was aiming for F81Se then he said U80Vg is the latest model with same performance and etc. and the most, SEXY DESIGN and LIGHTWEIGHT! Then he call all his connection in Lowyat and they said its out end of the month, he went lowyat that afternoon and search for it and no luck at all. I want it so badly. At night around 10pm he called and he said he's on the way to my house to deliver the notebook! I was superduper happy! I ask him where he get it from, then he said got lubang. Then thats all, I dont bother to ask much. If possible just wait for end of this month if im not mistaken, this model only sell at PC FAIR before they lunch end of this month. I search all over the internet and people from the US, Canada, Aus are crazy over it. Gluck! *Currently waiting for my Lappy Body Protector |

QUOTE(Perfect-Stranger @ Aug 17 2009, 08:42 PM) Well, actually the performance between U80V P8700 and F81SE P8700, i would say they are almost the same. Just that from their outlook, it's totally different thing. Price wise, you are paying extra RM 400 for it. Exactly it is just the same. Anyway, it's your choice at the end of the day. But for me, T6500 is just enough to cope with my daily usage. Paying rm400 extra just for: - The look - Lightweight - 180gb extra hardisc - extra Mhz on Ram. Thats all i guess. Not much |

QUOTE(locoroco2 @ Aug 19 2009, 01:39 PM) The ambient light sensor in U80V is so awesome! I just learned to turn it on by pressing FN+A key. Wooo another user besides me! My room is very dim, so i have set my screen brightness to minimum (by FN+F5) and had the keyboard backlit set to Off (by FN+F3). When the Sensor is ON, nothing happen to the Screen Brightness, only the keyboard backlit Auto Turn ON to mid level brightness. Then I switched on my torchlight and pointed it right on top the sensor, the Keyboard Backliit AUTO OFF and the screen gradually grows brighter til maximum, the Touch pad horizontal dotted line also grows much brighter when touched. In Room temp 26 degree celcius, the U80V has been up and running with light applications such as Firefox, winamp, thunder for 4 hours plus, the heat on the palm rest n keyboard area is almost non-exists. This machine runs very COOL and Quiet. I also touched the left airvent, the warm air that flowing out of it just felt a little bit warm and the air volume felt is just a minimal, very different from another notebook here i.e. the air is actually HOT and stronger flow/higher air volume. Just a simple description on the User Interface aspects above. Hope it will be of a little help for those who's considering this model. Overall, I rated this model: Highly Recommended. For more detailed review pls visit: http://article.pchome.net/scripts/art_cont...ticle_id=408790 http://digi.it.sohu.com/20090713/n265175012_6.shtml The second review above, the chassis was divided into 6 area where infra red heat detection device was used to measure heat level. Have Fun. What spect bro? Congrats! |

QUOTE(locoroco2 @ Aug 31 2009, 03:47 PM) Under Battery Saving Mode in Asus Power4Gear interface with LCD brightness set to minimum and the rest all in default settings in the Battery Saving mode i.e. well it depends if you're using 2.1ghz or 2.53ghz. - Power Saving Desktop eg. wallpaper auto set to a White background with Asus logo in the middle of it - Windows Aero theme disabled n reset to Vista Basic theme - Windows Sidebar auto disabled - Windows Taskbar auto set to Autohide mode - WIFI adapter, PCI Express set to Maximum power saving mode - Minimum CPU stage set to 5 % - Maximum CPU stage set to 60 % - ATI PowerPlay set to Maximum power saving I have tried websurfing thru wifi connection without the keyboard backlit, the battery lasted for approximately 5 hours 30min with room temperature of 27 degree celcius. During the period, i was only running Firefox 3.52 with no other applications. Hope the info above is of a little bit more help to those who's considering the u80v. the two diff version gives you diff power consumption. |
