To have the "Cellular Data Network" settings visible on your iPhone 2G, follow the steps in here:

http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=4271
Step 1:

check your APN setting after that from this thread http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/659856
im on maxis postpaid and i use these settings:

APN: net
username: maxis
password: wap

then try sending or receive MMS.
Step 2:

if step 1 doesnt work, try configure your APN setting by surfing to "www.unlockit.co.nz/#" through your iPhone.
in "Main Menu" choose "Custom APN"

miskol, I manage to have cellular Data Network option in settings now. However, the settings APN is unet instead of net under the cellular data section and the MMS section. I tried to change the APN from unet to net but eventually only the cellular data section can be changed. The MMS section, the APN, username and password all become blank. Anyone experience this as well?

DiGi user here, finally after 3 hours of trying, my 2g iphone can send and receive mms (tested kaw kaw)

Sent to a Nokia and received a MMS from a Nokia/Iphone3g too. Works like a magic.

I learn that, firstly u need to be on OS 3.0 , secondly update yr ipcc ( very important or else wont work, for DiGi user your carrier must show DIGI 4.1, under Settings -> General -> About ) Then finally install the "ActivateMMS2G" from cydia and follow the instruction. I did "ssh" follow Method 2 (SSH) on the first post of this thread.

After that finally i restarted the iphone, went to the "Cellular Data Network" KaBoomm the settings all were already there. Didnt disappear.

All the best trying.

Hi brother..

I just unlock my iphone 2g to FW3.0 and install "ActivateMMS2G" thru ispazio repo. At first I suceed sending and receiving mms even

without doing any settings to the APN or Cellular DATa. I don't understand how it works. But the next day, I try to send and failed...tried tons

of times still the same. Don't understand how I manage to send on the first day. Anyway I came across your post now and you mention

that i need to update IPCC file. How do I do that. Where do I locate this file and how do I modify it? I already have ACTIVEMMS2G installed. Do I

need to remove it first and update ipcc first.

Pls help.

1) installed from cydia.
2) follow miskol step create the custom APN
    - use iphone go to this website www.unlockit.co.nz/#

3) To Enable Carrier Bundle Support in iTunes 8.2 (Windows)

    - i using iPhone_3.0_Maxis_my.ipcc.zip

after did the setting above i still hav some problem to sending out mms

4) go to www.unlockit.co.nz/# again download the software
5) create a new profile n fill up this setting
   - APN: net

     Password: wap

after the step 5 if still not work follow by step 6

6) go to APN

Whenever I send out MMS or receive MMS, i notice my data usage records something, but it's small. Something like 20KB to 30KB for each MMS sent. I did turn off my EDGE setting in my iphone 2G. Is this normal?

it's normal. MMS require EDGE/GPRS to send or receive MMS. but that doesnt mean u have to enable ur EDGE.

i tried both ways, enable or disable EDGE while sending MMS, both still works. however when enabling EDGE, my data usage used are higher. so why the need of this extra data usage that i have to pay while disabling the EDGE when MMSing still works.

miskol : thanks sharing the tip... more data = more money (unless on unlimited data plan then who cares)

Like for me i am using digi prepaid, their data chargers are just so ridiculous, i very seldom surf on EDGE, but now with the MMS function is working on my 2g, no excuse not to use.

thanks again for sharing the useful tip of turning off EDGE to reduce data usage.

For starters, you have to be on OS 3.0.

Method 1 (Cydia)
1. Install the file "ActivateMMS2G" from the ispazio repo in Cydia.

Method 2 (SSH)
1. Using SSH, copy the file mms2g.deb (attached) into iphone folder, for example /var/root
2. Then in same folder (/var/root) in terminal input: dpkg -i mms2g.deb
3. Reboot.

Method 3 (SSH)
1. Extract files from Patch.zip into folders same as arhive.
2. For CommCenter chmod 755.
2. Reboot.
You can then adjust the apn, user, password, under Settings - General - Network - Cellular Data Network Settings.

U should follow the majority here who installed thru Cydia, most of them got it to work.

Maybe I should remove the other methods, to avoid any confusion trying to use SSH smile.gif

I can't send MMS... it gets 95% through sending one, and then it stops and gives me a red error icon next to the MMS which when I click on it says "Your message was not sent. Tap 'Try Again' to send this message".

I'm not sure if it's because the settings are wrong, because I uploaded the IPCC from http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/752226 which has worked for others. I also tried editing the carrier.plist file to change the APN from "unet" (which is for 3G I think) to "net", but it made no difference.

Maybe the problem is the person I am sending to, so can someone else try sending me an MMS to 012 282 5895, and I can try sending one back? Thanks!
