@davidmak,
Y don't U check it out and let me know?! *grins*  I'm oredi using IM 3.0+ (Full version) except I got it for 0.99 so muAHahHAhah it was a no brainer.  9.99 is quite a bit of $ *muAHahAHhaHAHah* and some forummers are oredi thinking I'm becoming like those 'Ah Sam' haggling at the market ! tongue.gif
*
*cough cough* i wonder who called you that

QUOTE(davidmak @ Jun 22 2009, 12:37 PM)
USD$9.99 is a bit hahahaha... pricey for me. I'm worse than you (Ah Sam haggling) cause I prefer free hehehe... I'll have to wait next month cause I've hit my max ceiling as I have been purchasing a lot of games lately. I'll wait a few moments before jumping into Beejive. Too bad it doesn't have a lite/free version. I really want to see how it operates in real life. Let me check youtube tonight if there're any such reviews.

So you've got IM+ for 0.99? Thats a no brainer! I wonder when they go down again  drool.gif
Yeah try out the IM+ 3.0 lite version. It has almost everything except Facebook and Skype chat/calls. Previously the IM+ lite cannot support background services, no sending photos, etc.
*
i'm watching beejive's twitter like a hawk now! just waiting for them to release the push capability version i.e. BeeJiveIM 3.0

apple has yet to approve their app for public use

@jonest,
I have the same dilemma! tongue.gif  I haven't used BeeJiveIM but I been told it's pretty good and stable.  Thus far, there's been no negative comments about it.  Assuming if I had to pay 9.99 for IM+ and 9.99 for BeeJiveIM, no doubt I'll go with BeeJiveIM biggrin.gif

@davidmak,
Ok.  FreeMemory is what I'm going to be downloading next biggrin.gif  Thank God it's 0.99 and not 9.99!!! I'm going to be running out of iTunes credit soon *gulp*

Are U currently using IM+ or what?!

Btw anyone can tell me yet how long BeeJiveIM will keep U connected till it disconnects U?!

I gotta learn how to do that too. Newbies these days needs hand-holding to explain the simplest thing.

Not that implying anyone in here as that. Just that if you do ask simple questions, then you probably need hand-holding like how Nokia2003 just shown.

Thanks a lot, Beejive! rolleyes.gif

I've tried deleting Beejive from my iPhone and re-downloading it from the AppStore inside the iPhone, and it spits out a message saying "The product you are downloading is no longer available". This may mean that Beejive is submitting a new version of its Beejive app, and hopefully end all this nonsense and silliness.

they are, mate

the reason, that i'm not moaning (as much) is because i'm following their official twitter and they do update it regularly.

straight from the horse's mouth and hence there is no need for speculation (or any purchase regrets *hint tinkerbel hint*)

@ everyone.

it is still (technically) a brand new app and cut them some slack. to make things worse, 3.0 is a different "environment" and it is bound to have some hiccups here and there la.

All this mess could have been avoided if they hadn't posted the crappy build of the app in first place. You don't have to race to get to be the first IM to do push notification, I'd rather have an IM app that does things right bur came in last than an IM app that comes out first but riddled with problems. That's Microsoft mentality you're seeing there.
*
problem is, with hiccups, they are sometimes unforeseeable. you may test an app as thorough as you want (perhaps since the developer OS 3.0 came out) but blunders may not occur until it is being released to the public.

heck, if they were completely avoidable, apple or any other cooperation will not be releasing any software updates in the first place.

sometimes, mistakes are best rectify by various feedbacks received from fellow users and it is by that way, users can feel a marked improvement.

humans tend to take things for granted, and if things come out as perfect as a mold, no one will appreciate those tiny little stuff.

@ stringfellow

i'm truly sorry but that's the fact when we are first hand/batch users, we are indeed paying to be "beta" users.

one can dispute as much as he/she wishes, but like i said, hiccups are unforeseeable. of course, it can make one mentally satiate by bombarding the said company with complaints and probably contribute an added on pressure.

theory doesn't apply to just softwares, but down to cars as well. that insufferable A pillar plastic in the honda civic which pops up when it gets too hot? surely a big corporation like honda has tested every aspect feasible before releasing the car to the public?

that's the pride (or shame) to be the first batch of anything.

Hence all these gripings. If they can't imburse me for doing their dirty job reporting every single error reports and glitches, then [RE]imburse me for all the aggravation. If the fault is Apple's, then it's their responsibility to do so, otherwise get the guilty party to the front. Then users won't feel so used and dumped on.
*
yes, you can. it is your right as a consumer to seek such reparations.

however, if you are not happy with the final outcome, you can then proceed to seek legal action against them for negligence et cetera and ultimately the court (remember not you and i) will decide if the corporation has indeed breached its fiduciary duties.

by then, hopefully (finger crossed), justice has prevailed.

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jun 25 2009, 08:45 PM)
Phew, just got back, 1.83Ghz becomes 2.13Ghz. Need to collect my thoughts on the recent findings, and I dont want to hurt anyone's feelings on the current OZ discovery.

I'll just let things pan out. If it does turn out fine, then congratulations to the Australians. They have been reamed on the rear end by their telco's offering since the 3G model is offered, it is high time they get the good news instead of the NZ side hogging all the unlocked units.

However, I am the eternal pessimist. That is how I keep my expectation low, always expect things to go not according to plan, so that I have recovery plans to rebound from the unexpected mishaps. Now, the word is "outright and unlocked". "Outright" can mean prepaid, meaning buying without a contract. "Unlocked" here can be interpreted as "unlocked to all the telcos in Australia" since all 5 telcos in Australia are offering the 3GS now, why the need to lock at all? They can just duke it out on who has the best contract plan to seduce their customers over. If this is the case, "unlocked" here can also mean "unlocked ONLY for telcos in Australia". I would not want to see my high hopes dashed when I slip my sim card in and still see "No Service" on the top left corner. Which brings it back to the need to contact a telco and request an unlock back again, square one.

I pray it does not turn out that way, and if it does not, I myself can be in Australia next month and get one myself. One customer is restricted to one per credit card, to if that is the case, I can bring "quite a few". tongue.gif So either way, I'm playing this cautiously. I hope our iPhone brothers in Australia comes in here with good news, so that we all can share this good news as another option/avenue to get our iPhones. rclxms.gif

i have no time to point out the correct legislation, but basically a network (given a choice) can lock their phones, provided they offer a service to unlock it later at a "reasonable" price.

if you are running a network, given such leeway, it makes sense if you wanna tie as many customers as you can, to your respective network, to increase your profitability. the only distinction is optus, where it is doing it for free because it views it as a mean of incentive for its customers.

a quick search over the telstra userguide for its employees,
QUOTE
All unlocking is considered a breaking of contract and the customer will pay an
ETC which can be either a recurring monthly fee for the remaining contract
duration or a one-off lump sum based on the remaining contract length (i.e. Pen
1 or Pen 2).

I understand that, but when all the 5 telcos are now offering the 3GS, the only reason I see for locking it to a specific carrier is for the specific advantages one would get for going for that plan. And since all 5 are getting it, the "unlocked" thing can be interpreted as "usable on all 5 telcos, but still locked to only Australian simcards".

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, I pray that I am WRONG. If I am, this spells good news to everyone, and I can even help shuttle some of these "unlocked" iPhones back home.
