QUOTE(thaisxs @ Jun 24 2009, 11:18 PM) after upgrade to 3.0 ? I notice my battery running out fast too after 3.0 . mayb i use too much tethering ? I have upgraded to 3.0 for a week now, battery was better than expected. but today I use my phone till the battery fully depleted, then i use the usb charger to charge it...now my battery life sucks....what a sudden change...my battery might be in bad condition now (like my macbook pro after 8 months...WTF)..... btw I manage to login to beejive again now, but push notification no longer works..

I see that there are quite a lot of complaint o iPhone 3GS battery on Apple support forum too....hmm
Added on June 24, 2009, 7:55 pmI think the problem with my iPhone battery is that there is something (maybe ntg at all) running at background, because the usage time keep on increasing (battery decreasing), while my phone is on standby

Wow, my iPhone is so wierd man, haha..show 20% battery remaining message while charging...and the battery keep decreasing.
the only thing that i can think of now is to blame Vodafone NZ and their lousy 3G network....their 3G cellular data network seems to be down (no wonder my push notification is not working, while it works on GPRS) I guess the iPhone was trying to get push notification through iPhone 3G network, and that is why the battery deplete so fast, even while charging. Will turn off my 3G network for now and see if the battery will go back to normal....
update: battery seems to recharge normally now. IMO, So far what i learn is, if u have push notification on, when ur 3G or GPRS data network is down, your iPhone will keep on trying to connect to the data network to retrieve push notification and hence the battery reduce faster... I might be wrong

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jun 25 2009, 01:57 PM) @psyeo, How and where do U get the batt indicator in %? *grins*Â It's not available on mine I get the % through sbsettings, ( there is other way too) but u need to jailbreak... Grrrr Vodafone NZ 3G sucks, lousy coverage and not reliable, I'm still unable to use 3G data...gotta use GPRS now. 1st world country with 3rd world Telco This post has been edited by psyeo: Jun 25 2009, 10:26 AM

@Hussain, You will need to have cellular data network enable (e.g. able to surf internet with 3G/EDGE/GPRS) to get near instantaneous push notification. If Wifi only, I guess u'll get push notification just like an iPod Touch...during standby it will take up to 15 minutes for the iPhone to connect to Wifi to check for push notification. also if your iPhone is Hacktivated (non-official unlock, aka Ultrasnow and baseband unlock) there is some problem with Push notification as reported by Dev team Added on June 25, 2009, 12:54 pmQUOTE(stringfellow @ Jun 25 2009, 04:45 PM) AS I discover this painfully yesterday, push-notification pummels your iPhone battery endurance down pretty hard. I left Beejive running on push notification, and it drains the iPhone , even with the Mophie Juice Pack on, to near critical when I got back home. The 10% indicator lighted up, as I raced to plug it into the power plug. SO make sure you turn off push notification, unless you are expecting a really important IM message on that time. Once you have received that message, IMO, I'll either completely log off Beejive, or turn push notification for Beejive off. That way, my buddies will know that I'm on the iPhone and still send me IM messages, but it wont beat my iPhone battery to a pulp. Be warned. for me the battery will not drained that fast (just like normal) with working 3G data network and with push notification on. but if the 3G/EDGE/GPRS data network fail, your battery will go down 1% or more on standby every few minutes.... I have to stick with GPRS and Wifi now when I'm at home...for some reason in my area the Vodafone 3G data network fail to work since yesterday evening and with push notification on, the battery drain like crazy (even while CHARGING the phone). I can logon to VodafoneNZ 3G network in my area, but the cellular data just fail to work on 3G (unable to surf internet).... when this happen, you'll also notice that the usage log in setting shows the amount of time use is more than the actual phone usage, even when u're on standby most of the time. QUOTE(cocklea @ Jul 11 2009, 10:39 PM) yep, pple definitely starting to like the whiteys now. still not as popular as the black ones, but on the 10th we got 10 of each variants in white, and today i check inside the cabinet only got 2 left of each. p/s: the sim swap for ur brother, it works in the 3G now? Yup, the old sim card has been abused pretty badly, LOL. Got a slight problem when replacing sim card, coz the original sim card owner was my friend's, and I don't have his pin code. But Firstmobile manage to help me replace it after some identity verifications.

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jul 12 2009, 06:03 PM) @xandman, If U can live with the extra weight (that's the main disadvantage but that's what U have to live with for the extra boost in battery!) the Mophie Juice Pack Air is pretty good. For better reviews, go look up stringfellow (except I ain't sure when he's back from Paris). He's supposed to put up reviews but he hasn't had time I guess. PS: I've seen the thing and it looks pretty good - with the Mophie Juice Pack Air, U don't need a casing Which color of the mophie juice pack air did Stringfellow go for? and what color is his new iPhone 3GS? haha want to do some survey on which color to go for with my white iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS
